I came with my colleague and we liked each other’s sushi. I pointed to my colleague sushi and requested to get one as well. I think I referred it a wrong name. The manager switched out the sushi for me right away. Very good service here! Will com again for sure!

Sushi O is so consistent and great every time. I’ve been going there since they opened. My son loves the lava roll, he craves it often. The service is always great and the food is always perfect. Our favorites are the kenji salad, chilean sea bass, tommy roll, red curry dishes and beef negimaki. I bring guests often and they’re always impressed and crave the kenji salad. For fried ice cream and roti canai, I have to admit Penangs is better but everything else we’ve tried is awesome.

My takeout order(one avocado salad and 4 pieces of salmon sushi) was ready 60 seconds after I placed my order! Thank you for saving my day by taking my «I’m in a hurry» seriously. Oh, by the way, the food was very fresh and tasty Will definitely return.

I came to this restaurant for both lunch special and dinner with my family. For lunch, we had American dream roll which is made of shrimp tempura, eel, mango, avocado and caviar. It was unique and tasty. We also tried Caribbean sensation which was made of crab, shrimp, mango topped with avocado. We added the spicy Gusto roll which was made of spicy salmon and avocado topped with tuna. They were good too. We had spicy king crab rolls and lobster king rolls when we went for dinner. They were so good that all of us really enjoyed them. The deco was beautiful. The service was OK.

What a pleasant surprise to find that this place is a gem. You would never think it by the looks of the outside, but the inside ambiance is gorgeous. Very creative with neon lighting and unique decorum, retro fancy. The service was excellent. We had byob wine and they were consistently stopping at our table to refill the glasses, take plates away and see if we needed anything else. The sushi was delicious-I tried a special roll called Summer Breeze and the mango is a great touch to the sushi flavor. Vety happy, only downside is that they don’t offer sushi specials like almost every sushi place I know. For myself it cost 27 dollars.

Whether you love SushiO or not will depend on how many other places you’ve tried in the area. I couldn’t wait to try it based off other people calling it a «hidden gem». But after going there myself, I’m sad to say that I just didn’t agree. If you’re priority is a nice ambiance, Aja which is only a few minutes away will blow you away with their décor. If you’re interested in getting the best tasting sushi, Midori Sushi(Highland Park & Piscataway) is my favorite. With that said, Sushi-O is a good combination of the two. Although I wasn’t obsessed with their ambiance or service, I still really enjoyed both! Plus it’s BYOB. The service impressed me the most. All the servers were peppy and seemed genuinely excited to do their job, which isn’t too common these days. My party bought two bottles of wine and without even asking a random server came over with a huge smile on his face and added some wine to my glass. He didn’t even realize that he mixed the two different types of wines in my glass… hahaha. Either way, I didn’t even care because I loved the service so much! Beware of the menu– my entire table took like 15 – 20 minutes just trying to decide what order. There’s loads of specialty roll options! Take a look at the menu in advance if you’re planning to stop in. Here’s what I tried: Avocado Salad– I couldn’t believe how much I loved this simple salad! It comes with a sliced avocado on top and ginger dressing. I shared it with my table, but regret not ordering one for myself. Seaweed Salad– when a salad of half seaweed, half iceberg lettuce showed up at my table my immediate reaction: what the heck is this? The seaweed part was tasty, but was killed anytime I got a forkful of iceberg lettuce mixed in. Spicy King Crab Roll– I really enjoyed this roll! I ate up all 8 pieces and still wished that I had some more. Avocado– I was so overwhelmed with all the speciality options that I played it safe and ordered an avocado roll. No complaints! Ultimately, I plan to give SushiO another chance. Since so many other Elites love it, I would like to see if my opinion changes if I return. And I definitely wouldn’t stop anyone from giving SushiO a try!

My boyfriend and I came here on Valentine’s Day without a reservation and we were seated right away. I ordered the hibachi dinner with steak and scallops and my boyfriend ordered the spicy roll dinner. Both dinners came with ginger salad and miso soup. My dinner also came with rice and stir fried veggies. Some pieces of my steak seemed fatty, but the«non fatty» pieces were good. The scallops were good as well. I also ordered a spicy crab roll that wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t the best I’ve ever had. They also did not do a good job of laying out my roll pieces and most of them stuck to each other and fell apart while I was trying to pick them up. My boyfriend’s dinner consisted of 3 rolls: spicy crab, spicy tuna, and spicy salmon. He enjoyed the rolls, however, like I said, they weren’t the best we have had. The service was a bit slow, but that is to be expected as it was a holiday. A few people next to us were experiencing horrible service, but luckily we did not encounter that problem. I really enjoyed the ambiance; the restaurant has a lounge feel to it. I would go back again to try a few more rolls if/when they have specials/half priced deals. Overall, not bad, but too pricey for the rolls you’re getting.

Great for lunch and dinner. I love to go here after my piano lessons at Worldwide Piano next door. They have great sushi specials and the Thai food is some of the best around. Sometimes service can be a little anemic when packed, but usually pretty good. Nice people too!

Visited this place for one of my friends’ birthday dinner. We loved the restaurant’s interior and the ambiance. The lighting made the restaurant seem very fancy, and the private table booth made us feel more intimate and cozy. We ordered something special: a sushi boat. I have to say that the sushi boat’s plating was one of the most appetizing sushi-plating I’ve ever seen– our sushis were beautifully & appetizingly arranged!!! On top of its beauty, the foods were excellent as well! The sashimi was really fresh, the rolls tasted amazing, and the food content was excellent.(I’ve been to several sushi places where the rolls are composed mostly with rice– like the rolls didn’t really have the contents). With regards to the menu, they had a great number of special rolls available in a very reasonable price!

By far this place is still my favorite for sushi and japanese dishes. Although I hadn’t been here in quite awhile, sigh. Too far from me now but good for special occasions. I’ve been going to this quaint soho looking restaurant since they have opened. The staff has changed thru the years as far as servers which in my opinion hurts the business. They are not nice and usually not that great at their job. Okay on to the food… we ordered lots of food and as a Unilocaler«my inner fat girl» did emerge into a happy dance shuffle. We started off with gyozas(my son’s fave) then on to volcano, pepper Tuna tataki, and dual mountain. The flavors and oh yes!!! FRESHFRESHFISH!!! We continued with 3 rolls; spicy king crab, lobster king roll, KENJIFUSION(of course) As for dinner Tuna steak with stir fried vegetables and sauce on the side. Delicious and mouth watering. My son wanted miso soup so he got a big bowl of piping hot soup. To end this delightful meal we ordered fried banana with chocolate ice cream omg melt in your mouth deliciousness. So if your ever in the area definitely a place to Check out. They’re food never disappoints and is always fresh. Didn’t need soy sauce or Wasabi. they have an awesome lunch menu.

Everything we ordered from appetizers(beef negamaki, tuna nuta, and gyoza) were absolutely delicious. Sodas came right away. Staff is super friendly, more than accommodating, and attentive. Just make sure you read the fine print on the menu, as they do NO substitutions unless for medical reasons. Just read that large paragraph carefully, and you’ll be all set. Sushi rolls were plentiful, something for everyone. Special rolls, signature rolls, and regular classic rolls as well as Thai and Japanese cuisine. Plenty to choose from. Atmosphere is trendy but the food isn’t too pricy, definitely a great find. Don’t let the shopping mall discourage you from dropping in because it’s well worth it. Will definitely be back. Wonderful experience!

We are a regular here for many years and it always hits the spot. Their sushi is generous and at a fair price. Their fried rice is good but a bit salty. Sashimi deluxe is big and has a good assortment of fish. The servers are nice and ambiance is casual. Overall, I recommend this place for a first date or a family meal.

Great food, ambiance and service! The waiter was extremely courteous and friendly. He was extremely knowledgable about the menu and maintained a conversation regarding his favorite items on the menu. Definitely will recommend this place to others and definitely is on top of my list of places to eat at.

I had always wanted to try this place because of the high reviews but was sadly disappointed by the quality of food served to me today. I went in for their lunch special(which is really reasonably priced for the amount that you end up getting), but the food was just subpar. I’m not hard to satisfy when it comes to food, and I rarely complain but I just couldn’t let this one slide. I’m not sure if it’s because I came in close to their opening time and they were underprepared, or if they just used last night’s left over ingredients, but nothing tasted fresh at all. My friend and I ordered the«Hot Paradise» and«American Dream» specialty rolls, and a salmon skin classic roll. Sad to say, I was very dissatisfied. The salmon skin roll was not what I had been used to; there were sharp scales in my roll? And the pieces were completely drenched in what I THINK was supposed to be eel sauce. The salmon in the Hot Paradise did not taste fresh(even the color was a bit off), avocado was old and mushy, and the tempura flakes were stale! The rolls weren’t very skillfully made; they easily fell apart. I can’t say I am a sushi expert, but I’ve had a lot of amazing sushi and this place absolutely paled in comparison. Nothing I ate after that soothed my palate of its fishy aftertaste. The saving graces, the reasons why I’m giving this place a 3 is because their staff was very courteous and attentive. The ambiance is attractive, and the place was clean, which earned them a few more points. Their prices are reasonable. But I was very disappointed with the food overall, considering all the claims on here about this being the«best sushi joint in the area». I regrettably and respectfully disagree.

You know, I’ve been to a lot of sushi places in the state of New Jersey and this is one always nice to go too. The décor is sleek, modern, dark, but has an almost a club vibe. There’s always someone to welcome you. After my date and I left, there were people waiting. Definitely check this place out for lunch and dinner. It can get pretty expensive if you order a lot. But remember this, every roll I’ve had, has been astonishing. DELICIOUS. I recommend the bento boxes! So much food for a great price!

This is a super old review that I never got around to finishing. Note that my visit was almost 2 years ago. «Food is 3.5 stars but service ups it to 4. Wife’s birthday — comped ice cream w candle and singing and gong staff serenade.»

This restaurant is kind of hidden but the inside is adorable! I came here for lunch and was surprised by the different choices on the menu and the prices! Everything was less than $ 10 and they even had an option where you can order Thai iced tea for an additional $ 1.50 with your lunch. I ordered a sushi bento box and a came with miso soup and salad. The crab salad it came with was good and the edamame was nice and warm! I definitely want to come back and try their other lunch specials. Everything was pretty fresh and for the price, it was definitely worth it!

I gotta say, this place was a let down. Located in a Dunkin Donuts strip mall on the side of the highway, I was ready to grub hard on some fish based on these reviews and I gotta say, I was a bit let down. We ordered up edamame and chicken lettuce wraps. The chicken was sauteed heavily in oil and had zero flavor. Like none at all. My biggest pet peeve with sushi spots is when they don’t have any special rolls that aren’t smothered in spicy mayo or deep fried. I could barely find any, but I found three and went with those. They were also completely tasteless, one being a bit slimy and not that full of fish. Everything was definitely subpar quality and I wasn’t a fan and neither was my friend. We left about 5 pieces and called it a day. We had a server in training, which is fine, but sadly he wasn’t the most attentive. Overall, I wouldn’t come back to SushiO, I’ll keep to my sushi spots in NYC and North Jersey.
