We absolutely love this place! First restaurant we visited in OKC, the Bread Pudding is to die for! Unless you are a great cook like grandma…

We stopped by this afternoon and picked up a take-out order… we got a slab of Babyback Ribs, fried Okra and Cole Slaw… it was delicious!!! The cole slaw recipe is new to us and we LOVE it!!!(we weren’t crazy about the old style.)… We’ve been patronizing the Edmond location since they opened the doors for business and they never disappoint us. Thank you Charlestons!!!

Our family suggested this place for supper on a busy Saturday night during graduation season. They were busy, but were able to get us in pretty quickly. We had a very friendly server. I won’t go into everyone’s order, since I didn’t try everything, but I had the chicken enchiladas and they were very good. I ate every bite, even the garnish of seasoned tomatoes that had been broiled a little when they melted the cheese(which was quite good). At the end we split a piece of their key lime pie and really loved it. The crust was a blend of pecans and graham crackers and the filling was perfect. We did appreciate the excellent service; however, at times our server got a little too friendly by interrupting our conversations and hanging around a bit too long. We were only in town for a short time and this cut short our opportunity to catch up with our family.

Let me start of by saying this, if its a Hal Smith joint then count me in. I love all of the Hal Smith creations and especially Charleston’s located in this south Edmond location. We I come here I usually get the cheeseburger with a cold bud light and my wife usually gets a grill chicken salad. The quality of the food at this location is steady and solid and the service is consistently great. We definitely recommend this location.

My husband I either dine in or pick up from here 3 times a month. I love the grilled chicken and avocado club. Instead of fries as a side I get the carrots and it’s a fantastic combination. Curb side to-go service is great too. They’ve never gotten my order wrong either when picking up to go which is nice since there’s so many places you go to get to go food just to get home and see something was made wrong or missing. Love this location!

I love our Charleston’s here in Edmond. The food is ALWAYS correct and cooked the way I order it. The servers keep the drink glass full at all times. The management takes pride in this location and it shows. I have NEVER had a bad meal here and I eat here often. Brave the temporary construction on 33rd and Broadway and go enjoy a great meal and fantastic beverages.

I am new to the area after relocating from Memphis. This place is fantastic! The spinach/artichoke dip is top notch, the steaks were cooked perfectly and the caramel brownie with ice cream dessert is pure heaven. Our server, Max, was on point and very knowledgeable. Sure, it’s a little pricey, but really worth it. Hey, you get what you pay for! I really don’t have one negative thing to say. This guy and his family will be back.

Why is this a four-star restaurant? This is a five-star all day long restaurant. Caleb our server was outstanding and the food was no less then phenomenal… If you are visiting from out of town this stop is a must!

A phrase ruined good food and otherwise good service. Beware, your entire night will be an attempt to upsell. Life got in the way and we found ourself traveling on our 25th anniversary. Tired and clad in casual clothes we were referred here for a good steak. The food was as billed. My problem is that two minutes after the general manager found out we were celebrating a major marriage milestone(he asked, we did not volunteer) our waiter returned to ask«how about a dessert to celebrate you anniversary»(the waiter could only have found this information by talking to the general manager). When the bill came, we were surprised to see that the dessert was not comped given that our anniversary was used in the suggestive sell. Immediately recounting the evening we realized we were never offered a free dessert. The suggestive sell was simply another suggestive sell after the bottle of wine when we sat down,(we said glass only please), appetizer as we were starting(we said no) and shrimp with our steak(we said yes to one). My issue is not that the dessert was not comped. My issue is our anniversary was leveraged by someone to simply do another suggestive sale. If the waiter had simply left off our personal celebration when suggesting a dessert we would not have left with such a bad taste.

Charleston’s is fantastic. I was just in town visiting family, and we came here after a long day of working out in the heat and it hit the spot 110%. Their food is typical nice American, but absolutely phenomenal. Salads, sandwiches, burgers, soups, chicken, pot roast, steak, you name it. The service was great too. Kept our waters full, food was out within 10 minutes of ordering, knowledgeable about their food/wines, and very respectful. I ordered the Oven Roasted Chicken with a starter House Salad. The salad was amazing and it comes with a buttery/honey croissant. I can’t exactly nail what it is about the taste of the croissant but it’s excellent. The house salad was filling, delicious, and gave you just a little more extravagance than a typical house salad. The Entrees were big, hot, and delicious. Their prices might be a tad higher then your typical dinner out, but for the amount of food(protein especially) and the quality, I would say they’re almost cheap. The Sweet Glazed Carrots are wonderful… if I could order a plate of just those, I would. Mashed potatoes are the perfect consistency, gravy was so flavorful, and the oven roasted chicken was juicy and hot. It was one of the best meals I’ve had in a while. It’s officially up there with my all-time favorite restaurants.

Where do I begin! I ate here with my family for Father’s Day. I had the 14oz. prime rib, medium rare of course, garlic mashed potatoes, grilled shrimp and a house salad. The prime rib was the best I’ve had in OKC! The garlic mashed potatoes were a perfect compliment and tasted awsome! The shrimp, well what can you say about the shrimp, perfection! They also have the best dinner salads around! Everyone else enjoyed their dinner as well. Just too many to describe. The food would have been good alone. But they out did themselves by providing us with an outstanding server«Bailey». If you go I’m sure the rest are good too. But you’ll have a winner if you get Bailey! Let’s see… Great food… Great service… Hmmmm. Overall grade«A+++». I’ll see you soon!

The food is always very good and the wait staff is wonderful and extremely attentive. The aesthetics of the restaurant are nice as well. My only issue with Charleston;s is the acoustics. This place is LOUD — The background noise is horrible. It is so loud that you must shout across the table to be heard by your table mates. My favorite meal is Walt’s Champagne Chicken Salad. We go at off meal hours in order to enjoy the food. If you go, try my favorite: Walt’s Champagne Chicken Salad

I absolutely love coming here! The food is never a disappointment and the staff are not only friendly but very attentive and seem like they really enjoy what they do. It’s a bit on the pricey side but great for date night or family occasions!

We often go to Charleston’s for lunch, more so than dinner. We even go to some of the other locations around town depending on where we are when we get hungry. Charleston never fails us. The food is always consistent and cooked fresh to order. The croissants are a favorite… soft, warm and just the right size. At lunch time I tend to stick with the Chicken Club salad, subbing grilled chicken for the fried, and hubby with the Grilled Chick and Avocado Club sandwich. The blue cheese dressing is one of my favorites around town and hubby absolutely adores their homemade pickles! Dinner time brings out the prime rib(after 4PM until they run out) and well, I’m a prime rib kinda gal! Hubby, also a carnivore, tends to favor the chicken fried steak in the evenings. They have a decent wine selection to go along with the menu and we’ve yet had anything we haven’t enjoyed there. In the Summer… go for a Bellini or two! Refreshing and delicious! Two tips for the Edmond location: 1. Evenings tend to be crowded, get there earlier or plan to wait. Lunch on Saturday is rarely that busy, but during the workweek and Sundays it can get a bit busy. 2. If you love your car, you want to note that the Entrance on Broadway right at 33rd is a bit steep. Going in isn’t bad, but coming out we have scraped the bottom of both cars now. One is a standard sedan and the other a sports car that sits lower to the road… BOTHSCRAPED! Try to remember to go out the back way onto 33rd or go out the exit on the other end of the complex.

Love this Charleston’s. Best chicken fried steak and the mashed potatoes are like a fluffy rich cloud of heaven. Salads are good too. Sandwiches are delicious. Yum. Good choice to find something on the menu for everyone.

When I visit my family back home in Oklahoma, we usually end up at either Ted’s Café Escondido(check out my review for that) or Charleston’s for dinner. I’ve been here many times growing up in Edmond and my dad happens to be a huge fan. While I love the ambiance, I’m not entirely sold on the entrees. I’ve never had anything that kept me coming back for more… and there are probably at least five other places I would choose to go to before Charleston’s, but I tend to go with the flow when I’m back home. I’ve had the blackened chicken caesar salad but noticed the dressing was a bit too intense(make sure you get the dressing on the side). The salmon is actually pretty delicious but I prefer it as an entrée, not with the salad. The most recent trip I ordered the grilled mahi mahi with steamed veggies served on a bed of rice and I would have to say that it was probably the best meal I’ve ever ordered from this restaurant. It was delicious and the portion size was so big that my brother took half of it home for his lunch the next day. My mom ordered a burger and it was large enough to split the meal with my grandma and still have leftovers. They serve warm loafs of bread and butter when you arrive, and warm croissants with pre-dinner salads. They have a full bar but I’ve never had anything to drink here so not sure how their cocktails taste. The prices average anywhere from $ 12-$ 30 for an entrée and they have everything from soup/salad to steaks. Overall I would say that Charleston’s is a decent choice if you want a variety of American food options, definitely worth checking out but don’t expect anything extraordinary.

This is yet another Hal Smith restaurant and therefore caters to the uncreative, humdrum eaters of Oklahoma. The food is always good, but never great. They take great pride in filling the plate so that the above-average prices seem worth it. An old trick whereby if you see more food, it must be a better value. It is not. You can get much better food for far less money in Edmond and Oklahoma City. Charleston’s of today is a much different restaurant than what first started 20+ years ago. What once was a neighborhood eatery with a unique menu has now become yet another chain of mediocrity. When they added Fried Catfish and Chicken-fried Steak to the menu, it was the final nail in the culinary coffin. They often run out of desserts. Even the ubiquitous key lime pie can regularly be 86’d by 8pm. Not that I’ve ever been sincerely disappointed if this happens, but it would be nice if they could properly forecast demand. If they had to throw away a few servings at the end of the night instead of running out, they’d still make plenty of profit and, more importantly, have more happy customers filled with overly-sweet treats. And I do mean overly-sweet. Even the key lime pie is borderline cloying. The apple-walnut cobbler is more sugar than apples or walnuts. The herb mix on the prime rib is overbearing as if they are trying to mask the flavor of a bad piece of meat. Oddly, the beef is just fine and doesn’t need rosemary covering the exterior. The cream gravy on the chicken fry is far too rich. To be clear, the food is good and consistant. But nothing is great or outstanding. You will never leave with a sense of wow or delight. But you will leave having eaten far too many calories and spent much more money than the average family spends on food for an entire day.
