I was at Churchkey Pub the night of the incident regarding the negative review stating that the group of 14 were«asked to leave»… They were not asked to leave, but asked to tone it done a notch. The women in the group were screaming at such a high tone that literally the rest of the patrons not in that group would instantly look over to the dart board area out of sheer shock! I also witnessed the interaction between the employee of Churchkey and the group leader and it appeared to be respectful conversation. But, one woman insisted on throwing out«their’ credentials stating that they were/are doctors and or big shot members of the community… She was very rude and did nothing but escalate the tensions between the group towards the employee. Take this poor review with a big grain of salt to a group of spoiled people behaving badly without any regard to the other 40+ patrons who were trying to enjoy their night as well…

Beer was cold, but how hard is that? A group of 14 of us got asked to leave by the bartender, because the ladies(our wives) were making too much noise in an Irish pub while we played darts. Yes. Too loud. In an Irish pub. We were not drunk. It was one of the wives 55th birthdays. Yes 55th, and we’re obviously HUGE troublemakers. If you can’t have an exuberant party at an Irish pub, where can you? And apparently, if you ask the owner about this, his answer is, «we’re not an Irish pub.» Hmmmm… It’s ok, I get it… you’re kowtowing to the tiny, seriously retiree, 70+ crowd that complained. But don’t advertise yourselves as an Irish bar, if you can’t act like one. Either wear your Depends, and cater to the oatmeal crowd, or man up, and don’t bend over to the minority that complains, just because they’re «local». Because we’re local too.

This is a really fun place to ride our scooters on a summer afternoon or evening. They almost always have a football game on, darts and a nice tomato soup. Great beers on tap and yes even a cider or two. Service is no nonsense but good. Its one of the oldest pubs in the area, and always lots of people. Its a place we enjoy even in the winter(after the Christmas tree lighting we went in to warm up and a quick drink and small bite to eat. It was perfect).

Low key laid back off the beaten path pub with awesome food and an interesting tap beer selection. They brag about their cocktails, but I’m a beer drinker. Reubens are massive and delicious. Next time we’re trying the pork shank. They serve the Dark & Stormy with Gosling’s Rum, so all is right in the Church Key’s world. My only suggestion would be to feature more local beer — Seven Seas, Big E, Diamond Knot, American Brewing, etc.

Discoverd this hole in the wall recently and thoroughly enjoyed my meal and drinks. Great English décor and amazing atmosphere. I would love to watch the World Cup there or a Sounders game. I recommend the Soft Pretzel and Beer Cheese. The Kobe beef dog is also a great meal. Definitely stop by, even if it’s just for a late night drink!

I have been to this bar many times before and I can’t say it enough, best bar in Edmonds. Rotating taps and educated staff make this place a staple in this cozy small town. If your an Edmonds native and haven’t been here your missing out.

Last week, I watched a customer at the bar tell one of the servers that his service was lacking due to his focus on talking to other staff, watching tv, etc. It was a loud, brutal face to face that everyone else noticed. It was deserved. I don’t know where the owners are, but they are seemingly MIA and service really lacks when they are gone. I’m feeling that«downward slide» for Churchkey, which would really suck. I hope it’s a momentary trend.

This is my kind of place. I love a good pub and I feel like this really fits the definition of what I’d be looking for when I walk into a self-proclaimed«pub.» They have a great beer selection, a nice, quaint, pubby atmosphere, and I hear they have good food too. I didn’t have a chance to try the fare but I’ll be back for sure.

«Uncovering a hidden gem in the most unlikely places.» Church Key Pub is conveniently located in the heart of Edmonds and a short walking distance away from the waterfront and ferry terminal. Some of crowds I encountered were passengers waiting for the ferry and the rest were locals enjoying a low key night out on the town. The bar does have some large seating areas for big groups and a couple of dartboards to spark a friendly competition. The interior design is simple and cozy providing a relaxed and casual experience. The menu items were an unexpected and delightful surprise consisting of appetizers, soups and salads, entrees, sandwiches, flatbreads, and even a crème brûlée dessert. One notable item that caught my attention was the Mac n’ cheese made with Beecher’s flagship. The cocktail list was equally impressive as they have absinthe. I opted for the Sazerac, Long Island iced tea, and Bavarian pretzel. The drinks were perfectly mixed and the pretzel was still warm and fresh. The service was top notch I never had to flag anyone for attention for a refill. Overall this place comes with high recommendations. Fantastic service, great menu items, and inviting atmosphere makes this a great happy hour/night out spot.

Food, service and beer are great! The rotating beer selection leaves little to be desired. Staff is courteous and attentive. Food is delicious and not too heavy. I really can’t say enough. UPDATE: Church Key just got a beer engine! In the opinion of this beer lover, beer engine is the only way to enjoy proper English Ales and it’s something you almost never see. Kudos to Church Key for picking up one of these!

Love this place! Another place like Salt and Iron where i feel like there is such a good positive atmosphere! The staff is awesome. Very friendly and quick service! Food was really great too! It really makes Edmonds feel like that home town atmosphere! Moscow Mule is a must! Yum! They have the authentic dart boards which are super fun! If you are going out in DTE, it is a definite go to!

I’ve been here a few times now, and I FINALLY a got my Boundary Bay on tap! And it was delicious. The staff here is great, their drinks tasty. And he vibe is very much like an English pub. I tried their Bangers and Mash — very good. My friend had a Dark and Stormy and their cobbler. The Dark and Stormy was perfect and the cobbler super tasty. They do trivia on Tuesday, it’s free and not the bet but let me repeat: it’s free. There isn’t all that much seating so it’s best to avoid Tuesdays or come very early(if you want to do trivia or get in before the crowds).

Most important part of a bar: the drinks obviously. Rest assured you are in good hands. Best Moscow Mule I’ve tasted, good selection of beer and of course whisky(as every good pub should have). Second most important part, especially for a pub, food! Good traditional pub food with a little extra class and local/quality ingredients(Beecher’s Cheese!). Decently priced for bar food in general but for Edmonds specifically! Atmosphere is great. Staff and owner are awesome, funny, and knowledgeable. Crowd is loud during soccer and music nights, but cozy on most nights. Darts can get a little loud but it’s a pub for Christ’s sake! The décor of dark wood, old timey advertisements, and sports memorabilia fit perfectly and are aesthetically pleasing. Finally, love the name. Guess it’s in reference to a church key being a term for a bottle opener? ;) A new favorite for me and soon to be a favorite Edmonds go-to!

This was a complete surprise. We just stopped in to throw a quick round of darts and grab a beer. We stayed for a little longer. The atmosphere was great. There was a genuine neighborhood feel to this place. It just looked like the crowd was having fun. The staff was very friendly. The music was a great selection. It was not too loud where you had to talk loud, but you could still hear and enjoy it. There is a great selection of hard to find beer on tap. I spoke with the owners and their philosophy was to get the beer that nobody else had. It looked like it was working. They also have a nice selection of various whiskies. The one thing I like was there was none of the fluffy, highly sweetened stuff. This is place where you come to get a beer or something on the rocks, maybe a combination of both, and enjoy your night.

What a cute pub! Fast and friendly service. IPAs on tap a nice assortment. We had the turkey wrap(was a little dry) and the rueben both with salads. The rueben was perfectly delicious. A nice cozy bar off main street. We will be back!

While I’m sad that Jack Murphy’s is no longer an establishment, I absolutely love the replacement, Churchkey Pub! Churchkey is the perfect place to go if you want to sip on a fine beer or cocktail and be able to talk to your friends/significant other in peace. It is a quiet, cozy, dimly lit bar with old church pews to sit on and dark wood tables. It has an English aesthetic to it, just a very charming bar. The prices are reasonable for the type of bar it is, which is classy, but not TOO classy. Moderately priced food and drinks… not the best deal because it’s not a dive bar, but not a bad deal by any means. Get the Moscow Mule in the cool copper mug!
