Has a wonderful Irish pub feel – dark, moody, but wonderfully cheerful. Makes you believe you’re in a pub on the Isle. There’s a sweet fireplace, and wonderful décor. I can’t wait to try the food. Also, the women’s bathroom smells like lavender. A bar with a NICE bathroom!

First of all, this place ain’t cheap– I definitely spent waaaaaay too much money there. But, I came in on the right night! The legendary Desmond(who I guess works at Daphne’s normally) was filling in for the night and he was hands down the best bartender I have ever seen in my life. Charismatic, charming, and knows how to make a fine drink. Love. The cool thing about this bar is that they have a ton of great«sipping» whiskeys and craft beers. This is what a bar experience should be. If you’re gonna drink, do it right! Desmond makes a mean Manhattan. I am going to follow him wherever he goes now. The bar itself had a dark, old pub-like feel. It was pretty sexy. I felt really comfortable and at home. This place is kind of a treat for me, but it is definitely one of the best places that Edmonds has to offer! I will be back, and I hope to see Desmond again!

Well a bit of an update and up just by one star… ONLY because of the service that the bartender provided… He promptly welcomed me, introduced himself to me and the three others on the bartop, how homely. The Redbreast was a wee bit better than the last experience. I dont think the quality of the review will get much better than this though… It seemed as if the«tulip» glasses were either 12 or 14oz glasses and charging $ 6, at least in the downtown Seattle Irish pubs you get a proper 20oz tulip glass for $ 6.00. The sandwich and Mac n Cheese seemed tempting, but I don’t think I will be wandering back that way for awhile, if ever. Sorry.

Its a nice enough place. Dark and cozy… They have a beer and some great irish whiskey. Ive been there twice and its fine. Not a place that I really make as a destination, but if im around there, Ill stop in(though there are other places close by Ill go to first). Bring a flash light as you cant see a dang thing. Bartenders are nice enough, not overly friendly, but hey as long as they get my drink to me as quick as they can, Im happy. …but it is a fun place to go with the dark wood paneling, wood floors, dark corners to curl up in and they even have a private nook/snug for special group occasions.

Really good. I liked everything about the place. The bartenders were perfect, all I had to do was describe the kind of drink I wanted and he made it for me. And it was really good. There is no TVs, which I like, it gives it a more ‘Irish pub’ feel. it doesn’t get too crowded but there is a lot of people who go there. It’s a good place overall, nice people, good atmosphere, great drinks, and good food. Definitely give it a try.

LOVETHEBUENAVISTASTYLEIRISHCOFFEE! Haven’t been to San Fran? Well lucky for you this place serves it exactly, ditto, twin style, the same… amazingly rich and delicious. You are from Ireland? You been there? Have an accent?! You are a regular at the Swell or Fado? Oooo… Big Deal! I’m Hispanic in heritage but I don’t go to every Mexican restaurant saying«You aren’t Mexican enough!»…Just sayin. I found that this place passed my first test… Ordering a Bloody Mary! The bartender made it perfectly spiced and gave me as many olives as I wanted(since my BF kept stealing them). The bar men(Gabe and Will?) were friendly and lightly BS’ed with us while we got our drink on. The prices are great and for two people with a mission to get a lil tipsy on our day off… it was under $ 40. The food isn’t anything special. A couple sandwiches and some mac… If your going to have two things on the menu, make them really special! Serve some Scotch Eggs(easy to make and serve hot or cold!) with nice spicy mustard or simple Irish stew. We walked in there with no expectations, just looking forward to what a new place in Dread-monds had to offer. My BF and I decided we could easily become regulars. If you go there for any reason… Try the Irish Coffee, you wont be disappointed ;-)

We went there for St. Patrick’s day and it was lovely! The thing that was impressive was that when we walked in, even though it was super crowded, the bar tender noticed us right away and immediately took our order. Great cheerful service! Also, they have Irish moonshine which is fruity and yummy and the Irish coffee is the bomb! We only got a little sandwich which was fine and I have yet to try any other food so more review to come!

(2.5 stars) You know what makes a good Irish Pub? Food & Atmosphere. I know, I know — Beer & Whiskey help, but in a town where I can walk 2 minutes east or west and fine places with a large a selection of beers, this is less of a definitive issue for me personally. So I’m back to food. I’m half Irish, one of my closest friends is an Irish national, and I’m on holiday in Ireland relatively frequently. I’ve been to as many real Irish Pubs as those whose roots go no deeper than the chapter on «How To Look Like An Irish Pub» found in a DIY book from Home Depot. No matter how dark, how sullen the staff, or how dinky/elaborate the drink select is — if you’re going to server food, serve food. Don’t offer two horrifically crappy«skillet» items that you threw together in the back closet you’re claiming to be a kitchen. That mac & cheese? Who the hell serves M&C room temperature and on a piece of wax paper in a cold cast iron skillet? And don’t get me started on the«sandwich» you also decided to serve also in a skillet that tasted like you just took the plastic wrapper off of. I’m a big boy and I know the difference between a bar and a pub, so my suggestion would be to dump the«food» and go back to being a bar. I’ve been in a few times now, the first couple for a beer only, and I can say that we’ve always encountered friendly staff — talkative and eager to engage(although offering patrons samples of whiskey you point out is rot gut and they won’t even sell in Ireland seems like a strange selling feature). But the atmosphere in general is a bit sad. It’s not a particularly inviting space(dark it is, but isn’t that an Irish Pub requirement?) and any life seems to temporarily come from any groups of friends that stop in. Maybe a change in music, or a TV with sports, or getting a good gender mix in the employees would help(our last visit had 4 guys working — for no more than 6 patrons — wow). I know you’re relatively new, and I’m not saying I won’t ever be back, but maybe a little maturing time is needed to find a good groove. Running a larger bar is a lot different than the itsy bitsy space you have with Daphnes Café across the way(same people, according to the bartender).

We went in on a Wednesday night for a Guinness. The Guinness was poured to perfection, the staff were friendly, and music was upbeat. We ended up staying late into the night. The place had such a great vibe and we’ll definitely be back. Cheers!

Decided to try this place even after seeing all the negative reviews. Walked in on a Saturday night and the place was busy but not packed. We located some seating at the bar and ordered two beers(Guinness and a Harp). The beers were $ 6 each but were not the standard imperial pint size that Guinness is normally served in I think they were 14oz glasses. The bartenders we ok but appeared overwhelmed. After ordering and finishing our first round they did not notice our empty glasses and I had to try very hard to get their attention to ask for my bill. I really wanted this to be a fun Irish bar but the overall experience was lackluster and I don’t think we’ll be back.

We didn’t feel welcomed by the bartender. Too bad. We’ve been looking forward to having another establishment in Edmonds. My wife and I walked in a little after 4. They open at 4 and besides us there was one other couple. We asked about their Murphy’s Amber which is made for them and asked for a taste before ordering a glass. We were told, ‘that’s not our policy.’ Guy, are you serious? You’re not willing to promote your product to a customer with a one ounce taste to determine if it’s worth ordering the full glass. And while sitting at the bar we were asked to pay in full or open a tab. Honestly, if that’s their policy and how they treat their customers, as an Edmonds resident I don’t need to go back… ever again. By the way, my wife and I decided to walk to Engels after AND we decided to conduct an experiment. We sat at the bar and inquired about one of the beers which seriously we hadn’t tried before. We asked about it. It sounded interesting and we asked for a small taste. The bartender gave a great explanation, suggested an alternative and even poored a taste of that beer without being asked. He even asked for input on future seasonal beers. We ordered one of each. We paid our tab after drinking our beers. We made a point to thank the bartender for making us feel welcome and we left a decent tip. Folks, this isn’t about seeing how many free tastes of beer you can get. It’s about feeling like you can walk into an establishment, being welcomed by a knowledgable staff, and having a nice experience. Besides Engels; I’d strongly recommend Rory’s. We’ve been going there for years with and without the kids. We always feel welcome. The staff is friendly. The food is good. Don’t waste your time at Murphy’s

I liked the place ok, but geez its dark. You can turn up the lights a little bit. And what’s the deal with giving out $ 2 bills and $ 1 coins only as change? A guy sitting at the bar told me it was some kind of Irish superstition/tradition but I’d never heard of anything like that. What was funny is that I went to Darrell’s after being at Murphy’s, and paid for my drink with $ 2 bills. The bartender said«Oh, been to Murphy’s?».

This one of the most authentic Irish Pubs I’ve seen in the US. We had a great visit, the drinks were well made, and the bar staff very friendly. I’;m sure we’ll be regulars. Can’t wait to try out the Snug!

I would love to give this place 5 stars and living so close I know we will give it another try but after our 1st visit I wasn’t blown away. 1st problem was going to the bar and ordering a Poor Mans Black Velvet and the bartender didn’t know what it was. That was quite comical to us as we order it quite often at the other area Irish pubs. So after we told the bartender how to make it it turned out quite well… But then before we had time to finish ours and our friends finish there Guiness an Asian bartender came by and took them off our table– we had to tell him slow down let us finish! He was quite a funny fellow. He was doing some stretches behind the counter. As far as ambiance– wonderful. Can’t wait to try the food. Hopefully they will get some fun Irish entertainment in there.
