Staff are friendly. Food is good. Kinda pricey. $ 17.00 for a California Pear Salad w/Chicken? C’mon Sycuan, you make enough off the gamblers. No need to gouge.(Few small chopped pecan pieces, not like other guest’s photo.) Salad was tasty and large. Bf ordered Sig Sig. Said it was more like Asian Pork Carnitas. Different flavor, but good.

I am sorry, but this place is only good for its breakfast. I have been here three times, once for breakfast, and the other two times for lunch/dinner. So far I’ve tried Shrimp Fajitas which wasn’t too bad; Shrimp Stir Fry, I ate all of the shrimp, and had to ditch the veggies as the sauce that they used made it taste horrible; Ginger Soy Ahi(appetizer) and it was pretty good. Today, I ordered the Calamari and Grilled yellowtail tacos. When the calamari came out I was not impressed. It looked overcooked off the bat, was chewy and difficult to cut– it didn’t even taste good drenched in the sauce that it came with and the parmesan cheese sprinkled on the top(and unnecessary as it did not add to the taste at all!). Presentation is obviously not a priority and looked like it was just slapped on the plate. Next, my tacos came with flour tortilla. It honestly tasted like a taco from Del Taco(not a good thing). I wish there was an option for corn tortilla. The tomato and cabbage on top was bland so I scraped it off and started eating just the tuna and blackbeans. Surprisingly the tuna was delicious! Just sad that it wasn’t highlighted better. I would skip Wachena unless you’re getting breakfast.

i went with a friend of mine that eats often at this restaurant and says everything on the menu is good. I didn’t get my hopes up since the last few meals I have had around town were a disappointment. I ordered the cashew nut chicken and to my surprise it was delicious. The order was huge and they didn’t skip on the cashews. Because my wife likes pf Chang we normally go there for Chinese food and I feel wachena’s is a lot better. Its definitely a place I want to try again

Breakfast was in order when I stopped this place located inside the Sycuan Casino on a early Sunday morning. Even though you could still smell that musty smell of cigarettes, I sat in the non-smoking section. When the hostess first sat me down, she sat me at a table that had food crumbs on, so I asked for a new table, and politely pointed out the crumbs, and advised to have someone clean them up. For breakfast, I ordered the Sycuan Scramble for around $ 11. The scramble came with Jack cheese, tomatoes, bacon, cheddar cheese, freshly sliced avocados, and green onions, but they forgot to put the green onions in the omelet for some reason. The omelet came with hash browns or fruit, which I went for hash browns, extra crispy and some rye toast that I choose. Even though the eggs were a little over done, the omelet was good and came with a good amount of crispy bacon. It came with a lot of Jack cheese and very little cheddar cheese for some reason. The eggs had a good level of salt in them and the avocados were at a nice soft ripeness. The hash browns were good but not as crispy as I would of like. They were lightly seasoned with a mild crispiness on the outside and were soft in the inside. I enjoyed eating them with their house salsa that I asked to try. The rye toast was of good quality and had a heavy toasting and melted butter just the way I like it. In the end, a good omelet, a little overdone and with the green onions missing, did put a little damper on the meal. Also, as I ate my meal, no one ever came over to wipe the table that I moved from, and before I left, I checked on it, and it still hand crumbs. I felt like asking for a cloth to wipe it down for them.

There food is amazing! My suggestions: Wor Wonton Soup Combination Pan Fried Noodles Waffle Nachos Also, if you are a card member, you get a discount. It’s a great place to have a «upscale» lunch or dinner without the price The waiters and waitresses have always been nice, but sometimes they seem to forget about you.(I blame the fact that it can get busy.)

I’ve been here a couple times with my parents. The place is very clean and has a beautiful interior. The reason I’m giving them 3 stars is because the quality of the food is good but nothing to fancy. The food looks beautiful but the overall quality is average. Recently when I ate dinner here I ordered the combination plate for dinner which came with kung poa chicken and egg roll and friend rice. The kung poa wasn’t spicy which it should be and the rice didn’t taste very cooked. My mom enjoyed her omelette though. This place is good maybe it was just this time? I wont judge them to hard because I’ve had good food here before.

This is my 2nd time this year to try this restaurant. Both times I have been pleasantly surprised. They have an extensive menu(yay) and I am eating my way through it. Big disappointment, libations served after noon, sigh, it’s only 11:15, oh well. Korean steamed buns and short ribs tacos were delish. Cranberry bread yum – o. Baby bro had the meat loaf also yummy. Down side the waiter who was very nice did not refill our iced tea, I had to ask. We plan on coming back within 6 months and I will again sample the ample menu.

Lunch with friends at Wachena was amazing. I ordered iced tea, clam chowder, New York Strip with veggies. My steak was cooked to perfection and my veggies were moist and tender. I’m definitely coming back here!

After a long night of bingo my cousin wanted something sweet so we decided to come here for some cheesecake. The cheesecake was really good not too sweet and not to heavy. The texture was perfect. The crust was really thick and was also not too sweet. Our waiter was super nice and attentive his name is Jesus. I also ordered an amaretto sour which was also really good. Even the water tasted good I’m assuming it was not from the tap. Sorry I can’t review the food. we did not have any, although they bring wheat cranberry bread to the table. the bread was warm and good it is lightly sweetened. Oh yeah the prices aren’t that bad either.

I have eaten here several times… I have only been disappointed with the food one or two times. The service has been lacking the last 3 times or so that I’ve been. Long waits for the check. Non attentive waitstaff. Some will charge for the«what I thought» was free bread, some don’t…it’s been inconsistent lately and that is disappointing because the food is pretty darn good! I hope that they will improve on their service because I am close to not coming back.

I’m not really sure when I turned into a 65 year old lady and started going to casinos for fun… and while I do enjoy a good slot machine, I’ve also learned that I enjoy eating at casinos… and no, not the buffet, but rather, the cafes with their wonderful entrees and 24 hour availability. Wachena is super nice, very classy inside. There’s a smoking and a non-smoking section, could be cool if you’re a smoker and the urge kicks in while you’re chewing on your food. O_o There were a lot of Asian foods on the menu, but also the staples; steak and eggs, French toast, sandwiches, etc. I had the steak and eggs, $ 15, it was a beautiful dish served with a side of fruit, the coffee was good also. Him had the sweet and sour shrimp, $ 16, it was a big enough portion but I found it pricey. And because of that, Wachena is my least favorite. It’s a lot more expensive than Sage at Barona and the Café at Viejas. It was good but nothing too spectacular other than the décor.

The other reviews were so true. Our main waiter made a mistake with our order and had another waiter bring the correct order with a sly remark of me eating too much.

Place: At Sycuan Casino. A nice restaurant and great alternative to the buffet and you happen to find yourself at Sycuan. Place: Inside the Sycuan Casino, nice décor, fancy place without all the fancy B.S. Service: Good staff, very attentive and professional Price: Slightly above average but nothing out of the ordinary, especially considering the atmosphere and décor etc. Food: Interesting offerings, a twist on the traditional and their menu is a mix of American fare, Asian and south of the border.

Had dinner there last night(8÷22÷13). Food was not too bad. I had the smoked short rib special, which was cooked ok, but the side dish of vegies were not very good. Also, a loaded baked potato should be loaded, not just butter and sour cream. Wife had Imperial Chow Mein. Typical decent Chinese food. As for the Steak and Lobster for $ 34.95 it’s choice steak, not prime so you really get what your paying for. Don’t expect a Steak House type of dinner, think more Black Angus. The worse part of the place is you have to walk through Sycuan Casino to get to it. As you as you walk in it’s like swimming through an ash try. Place is old and dingy, Wachena was decent. Service was pretty good, our food took a long time, but others were being served quicker so maybe they dropped my ribs and started over(which is worth the wait!).

I will start this by saying Im a GM of a restaurant! Ive read the other reviews on here after dining. I have never been here-never gambled at the casino. My partner does however gamble and gets vouchers daily. We came here with me not knowing anything about the place, and him knowing everything about it. We both got the lobster and steak special that they had going on for $ 25.00. We both got an appetizer and a beverage in addition. Service was really slow to begin with, but once the server reached our table, she NEVER stayed far away. My drink was never empty, and I always had what I wanted within reach. I would return!
