I love this place been coming here since it was 2 years old when it was at its first location. This place has great comfort food. Maria and Pauline are some of the best people ever. This is definitely a place to come for good mom and pop food. Look for the specials outside or on the wall those are the things to get.

Pros. The waitress was nice and the food price was good. Cons. the place was dirty but decided to give it a try. I ordered the huevo con chorizo combo. The egg and chorizo was good but I received raw microwaved tortillas and the hash brown was terrible.

I love the 2 pork chops here with eggs, hashbrowns, toast. Delicious! Pauline is a sweetie and she even gave me free soup, pancakes, and 2 whole pies to go and different occasions. The price is awesome. Sure the place isn’t fancy, but I only care about the food and service.

Cheap — Yes Good — No I just had two dry pork loins, box made mashed potatoes with a blob of margarine on top, corn out of a can, garlic bread made out of a hotdog bun and a bowl of soup that was unrecognized. You cannot make this stuff up. Total price was under $ 7.00 but I could not eat it and am heading to Taco Bell for lunch. Perhaps breakfast is better than lunch. Oh, worst yet is the place is a total dive with worn out carpet, tables and chairs.

My neighbor is the ownwer of the restuarant, I never been there. She told me about it. Brought me one of her breakfast burrito and it was like heaven. It was so big. Cheesey, ham, hashbrowns, eggs all wraped toegther and I feel in love with it. I could eat it everyday. Im so happy to have a neighbor like her :)

I am forever looking for new breakfast joints around San Gabriel and they are few and far between. Apple Jack’s is a good, cheap ‘greasy spoon’. Place is small and only takes cash, but it was pretty busy. I ordered chicken fried steak and eggs with coffee and my bill was just over $ 9. That is a great price! Also their homemade salsa was awesome. Only reason for four stars is the general cleanliness of the place. I will definitely come back.

Where am I? It felt like stepping into a mom and pop joint in the middle of Nowhere Texas in 1980. The menu is pretty straight up… eggs, bacon, pancakes. Super cheap. You come to a place like this for breakfast. no muss, no fuss. You don’t come here to brunch or bask in the ambiance, save that for a fancy place like Denny’s.

I found this place on Unilocal.I thought I give this place a try. It’s in a little plaza with lots of parkings. The place is small inside. It’s about 15 tables. This place is very old and unappealing. The price is very cheap. We got there after 11am. One old guy cooking and one waitress does everything. An Asian lady owner. We didn’t know they don’t accept debit card. My husband had to stay. So I had to go to an atm. Luckily there’s a Bank of America on Ramona less than a mile. It didn’t say anything not accept credit cards anywhere on the doors or inside. It did say on Unilocal not accepting credit cards. Not everybody goes on Unilocal to see that.

Where do I start? I’ve never seen breakfast/lunch so cheap! You really gotta try their tomato mac and chicken noodle soup. They’re not overly salted, just perfect. The cook is not stingy with the portions either. I usually order the breakfast burrito, hold the bacon, or the belgian waffle, and sometimes the turkey sandwich with a soup. Maria, our waitress, is such a doll. Always hardworking, but still puts a smile on her face. From time to time, you’ll see the owner, Pauline, chatting away with the customers. Also, lunch isn’t served until 11am. Come here on a budget, leave there with a full stomach.

This Is a nearby local breakfast and brunch restaurant tucked inside a small plaza. It has Lots of parking and open view facing valley Blvd which iseasy to find if you know what Your looking for lol great service and average food. The price is pretty cheap even when with some items increased throughout the years. Just one of those places you love to go back every once a while to enjoy some breakfast :)

Im giving this place 3 stars for the type of place this is. My grandmother calls thid place«The spoon»(short for greasy spoon). The prices are good and the food isnt anything spectacular but its like going to a friends house for breakfast and I love that. I had to take two stars off to be an honest Unilocaler but I would give it 5 just to be nice to this place ’cause they deserve it. I will continue to frequent this place with my kids anytime were in town. The stars that are lacking come from cleanliness. I have found ants stuck In the sugar and gnats flying around. The tapatio on the table looks old and crusty and rhey havnt cleaned the salt shakers in a long while.

This is a very old fashioned décor, dilapidated charm. This is not IHop. This is the greasy diner you come and cheat on your diet with. I would not advise to eat 7 days a week but it was fun eating their burger special and the pancakes. The chicken fried steak was enjoyable too. –Not too crowded during the middle of the day during weekdays –You can always find parking –There is a massage place next door. Nothing exceptionally spectacular, but I believe this is the charm, I have been back, will be back.

This place is amazing. First off the food is delicious, homemade, tasty, filling. Second, the value is incredible. You cannot beat the prices for what you get. Definitely come here and try it out.

i have been coming here since i was about six years old. maybe younger. It used to be a diner style restaurant but they tore that down in about the late 90’s to build the senior citizen apartments that are next door now. Place used to be full of cops because Pauline(owner) always gives those pigs free breakfast. The food is super cheap. and its delicious. alot of cops still frequent the new hole in the wall location. The regulars from before still come in a little on the elderly side now. my dad included. for lunch i recommend the teriyaki. for breakfast pancakes are always awesome. or the Denver omelet. I would come here over a Denny’s or a norms any day. I love it.

Cheap place, fairly good hole in the wall… well kinda. I used to go here when I was younger, but as someone who is older with more refined tastes, really, this places charges you cheap prices for food that tastes like it was from your favorite TV dinner. One person said it’s just like home, and that’s what it is. You be better off buying Hungry Man and microwaving it yourself at home.

Cheap place to get breakfast and lunch. Denver omelette with hash browns, toast came to only $ 4.95 including tax! Atmosphere is very homey with its mismatched, chipped dishes and different coffee mugs. But food was surprisingly good. Definite hole in a wall so don’t expect anything new or remarkably clean… just like home.

Apple Jack’s is a real El Monte institution. It’s a rarity and it might transport you back to a time when El Monte life might have been more like small town America. A place where old-timers are taking it easy, visiting old friends, and smiling with ease. You’ll be served by a friendly woman who will fill your coffee cup and hollers out orders to the Asian woman in the back who does the cooking. It’s breakfast like your aunt would make if you visited her for the weekend. Jam spilled on a sticky vinyl tablecloth, scrambled eggs and bacon, and warm toast on your favorite chipped plate she keeps just for you.
