This was my second time to Mesa Street Grill. The last time I went was a few months before they closed their old location. I had a FABULOUS time my first time around and my husband thought it would be a good idea to celebrate Valentine’s Day there. The service and food we received was sub-par and the tables around me most likely could’ve agreed with the service part. Our waiter forgot our drink order and served us cold bread. He forgot dishes for a couple, and took forever with another couple’s dessert. We were only revisited once, and that was after we had completed our meal. The tables behind us, on the other hand, had impeccable service and a fantastic waiter. I left feeling very unsatisfied with the whole experience and most likely will never return.

This is my favorite upscale El Paso restaurant. I choose this place for all my celebratory and holiday meals. I was skeptical that they’d be able to convert that white elephant building where so many restaurants have failed to something as nice as their previous location, but boy was I wrong. The new space is gorgeous, both the dining rooms and the patio. In all the times I have eaten at Mesa Street Grill, I have had only one bad experience, lunching with a half dozen co-workers. Everything was just wrong on that visit, excruciatingly slow service, incorrect orders, grossly overstated bill– all things that could be attributed to one very bad server. I emailed the restaurant and described our terrible experience and the owner wrote back quickly to invite us all back for a comped meal. When we came back, they immediately recognized us and treated us like kings, more than making up for the previous experience. Although it is too pricey to be a regular haunt, this remains my #1 choice for special occasions.

Went here for grad party and was really disappointed. We made a reservation for 8 people two weeks in advance and called to confirm the day of and still ended up waiting close to 30 min. The food was delicious and I bet would be better if it were served hot(hope you’re picking up on the sarcasm there) .The only thing that was served warm were the stuffed jalapeño appetizers which we got after everything else. So… This place is a great drinks and appetizer place, wouldn’t say it’s much more than that.

I had the lobster mac & cheese… It was delicious with crab and lobster chunks. The price point for lunch is a good deal. Serving size is not too much but not too small either. I’d recommend this place for anyone visiting El Paso. Decent price, good food and nice atmosphere.

After checking into the hotel. We drove down Mesa looking for a place to eat dinner. We saw this place and decided to give it a try. The location looks fairly new not the same building shown in the Unilocal photos. The ambiance is nice. Since it was happy hour time and we didn’t make reservations we were seated in the car area. There are flat screen tvs, multiple tables, an outdoor seating area, and a bar area with a vast selection of alcohol. I ordered the Spicy Shrimp Pasta which was DELICIOUS!!! There is a variety of food selections to choose from. It is on the expensive side. The steak prices starts at $ 36 but the side dishes are shareable size. I would visit her again to try the steak. I don’t know how the other seating area is set up could only see there are white table cloth type set up, normal for a steak restaurant. The staff appeared friendly and specifically our waiter was nice and attentive. Read the fine print about parties over 5; there are many additional charges applied to the bill.

This place has potential to earn 5 stars but needs some serious fine tuning on the service. The problem with El Paso is that we’re a small town trying to act like a big city. Nothing wrong with that, except that in turn you have these local folks or I should say hostesses, wanting to act like they’re from the big leagues, only to display lack of interest on the verge of rudeness. My advice is to set ego aside, serve your customers humbly, smile, and watch your business grow. Easier said than done. Other than service, the food is good, the atmosphere is great and the value is average. I’ll come back, but only when invited. I refuse to suggest this place to clients or my many out of town guests. There’s plenty of better service fine dining establishments in our town.

Mesa Street Grill has good food. It has a good atmosphere. But its very expensive and when I spend that kind of money I expect very high quality. And Mesa just doesn’t cut it. My experience started badly when I ordered an old fashioned. What I got was the worst old-fashioned I’ve ever had. There was a ridiculous amount of ice in the drink and very little bourbon. I asked for an old-fashioned not a slushy. The drink tasted like it looked. Only when I stirred it like crazy was I able to spark some semblance of life into the drink. Hilariously, the bartender saw me stirring and asked if I wanted more ice. Good lord. When I got to the bottom of the drink I found an orange slice that I had to triple check wasn’t a lemon it was so yellow. Alright on to the food. I ordered a half-order of stuffed jalapenos(which gives you 3). They were brought out fairly quickly(the restaurant had a nice flow to the order of food so I give them props there). The jalapenos were very thick, stuffed with melty gooey cream cheese. The bacon was crispy. But the way they cook it makes the bacon act like a ring. It almost immediately slid off the jalapeño. So you are left eating stuffed jalapeño with your fork with a side of bacon(rather than bacon wrapped jal). Perhaps they could wrap it with additional bacon and make sure it really cooks into the jal. For dinner, I ordered the spicy shrimp linguine. The dish was well proportioned and was served in a deep bowl. The flavor of the dish is spot on(creamy chipotle) with significant heat(it really is spicy, which is how I like it). I has chunks of tomato and jalapeño in it(I really overdid it with the jalapenos I think). The dish comes with four jumbo size shrimp which are perfectly cooked. Its a good dish. But for 27 dollars I have some criticisms. First, the sauce, while tasty, has a goopy texture to it. It is a very thick sauce. And the jumbo shrimp have their tails still on. So you are left with two options, hand eat the shrimp and make a huge mess(from the goopy sauce), or cut the shrimp in half(but still likely having to use your hands to get all the meat out). Maybe I’m being nitpicky, but that’s my issue with Mesa. Every dish I had there was issues with that really made me think about the money I was spending. From the drink, to the appetizers, to the dish. So I am giving it two stars because when I compare it to other top tier restaurants that Mesa is trying to be, it misses the mark. The food itself is 3 – 4 stars. I would also rate the service as acceptable but nothing impressive. I sat at the bar and after asking for the check I waited 10 minutes then had to ask again to get the check. If you want to shell out a ton of money to impress a date, then Mesa works. Just make sure you order a wine(you know what your getting then) and not a cocktail.

In from out of town and took a cruise down Mesa Street to find a place to eat. We passed many potentials, but a quick menu Google didn’t appease us. So to our luck we stopped our journey right in front of Mesa Street Grill. We decide to «just eat here», to our surprise that ended up being a great decision! Great service, great food could use a little beater bread at the table BUT not that concerning. I had the Steak and crabcake, my husband the ribeye! Both phenomenal! We topped it off with bananas foster for dessert! We left full and happy!

Um what to say? Really bad service… We came here for my sisters birthday for the sole purpose of eating dessert. We were seated and after that it all went down hill. It took the waiter about 15 minutes to take our order and another 35 to actually bring it. The only thing we ordered was 2 desserts and 4 coffees and they didn’t even bother bringing the coffees early. We never got napkins, and when we got our cappuccinos which had no cream/foam the waiter didn’t even offer taking them back. The desserts themselves were ok which is the reason I gave 2 stars instead of one, but overall it was a very bad experience. I’m surprised it got good reviews from other people.

This place was OUTSTANDING! I came by for lunch after checking into my hotel. I arrived around 11:30 and there were only about 5 people there, but by 12pm it was packed with professional people. I couldn’t decide what to order, so the bartender let me sample 2 of the soups(steak soup & cream of green chile). Both were delish but the green chile was my fave! First time having it & it was very yummy. I ended up ordering the Marsala chicken dish and boy were my tastebuds dancing. It was delectable! This place is extremely classy & a must try, if you’re in the area!

It was my husbands Birthday, I called the day before to make reservations I talked with a wonderful young lady, Samantha. I told her it was my husbands BD and she said she’d note that on the reservation. We arrived at 6:25 P.M. The young women behind the desk indicated that they were having«Fine Dining on the patio and if we’d be interested in sitting out there?» We wanted to sit inside because, it’s El Paso, it’s hot, and the view is Mesa street! We were escorted to our«TABLE.» It was downhill from there! The table was the table that NOONEEVERWANTS! Right across from the kitchen, where you can hear and see what is going on. I asked the young lady If we could please move, her reply was so rude, «all the tables are reserved». I informed her, that I to had reserved a table, «well, she said this is the table we reserved for you!» It was either take that table, or sit outside in the patio. We sat outside, in the far right corner, where the bench is higher then the table, with pillows for a back rest where my husband chair was lower… it was just awkward! The server was in such a rush to get us started, I had the Lettuce Wedge which was delicious, my husband Caesar Salad was underdressed. Before I could finish my salad the waiter had our entrée, I still had the fork up to my mouth when the young man inquired if I was finished with my salad, he whisk away my plate. I ordered the Lobster Ravioli the sauce over the Ravioli was very good, creamy, thick. Though, the lobster was so over cooked, rubbery and dry, the ravioli was a tad undercooked. My husbands Salmon was not cooked evenly the middle of the fish was raw. Our wait person did offer us dessert, we declined. The waiter stood there while my husband took out his wallet, he was so quick to get the card, I asked my husband jokingly if the waiter«had helped him take his wallet out of his back pocket!» We paid our bill and we were back In our car at 7:28 P.M. I’ve never had Fine Dining under an hour. Oh yes, while sitting on The Patio we fought with a fly throughout our meal! I was so disappointed with the whole experience. I guess Samantha forgot to note it was my husbands Birthday.

By far, the best restaurant in El Paso. It is great food, great service, and a great overall experience. Mesa Street has the best ahi tuna dish I have ever tried, the poblano mole sauce is delicious. The salmon is to die for and the risotto it comes with is reason enough to keep ordering it. The cheese plate is HUGE and has a great variety. I have also had the caprese salad, which of course was perfect. I love coming here on special occasions or for a night with just the girls! We have a great time and the service is always great. One time the food took a very long time, so the server brought us our second round of drinks on the house. Attention to detail, is best when going out. I will continue to dine here, no matter how expensive it is– you definitely get what you pay for! BESTRESTAURANT

Thank you Aaron for posting on my review. An UBER driver recommended your place and took us there. Which is why I was disappointed to have spent $$ getting there only to spend more $$ to go somewhere else right away. Me and two other friends were visiting El Paso for the weekend from California at about 11:45pm Friday night. We walked into the bar section and sat ourselves(since no one was at your reception area). We made eye contact with many of your employees(including bartender) but no one approached us ar any moment. I would say we waited 10 – 15 minutes at least before walking out…

Wasn’t sure what to expect based on the overall rating. This place is underrated. The atmosphere is lovely, the bar area is amazing. We ate outside on their porch. We’re from Chicago, so 50° is quite warm for winter! Claudio was an outstanding server. We had the Iceberg lettuce. The presentation was the best I’ve seen. The cashews were a pleasant addition. Yummy! We ordered the filet &NY Strip with Green Chile Casserole. We stay away from carbs. The prices of the meats were Chicago prices. The meats were done exactly how we requested them. It was also served with a bacon wrapped stuffed japeno! Maybe El Pasoeans don’t use Unilocal as often as Chicagoans do which may explain why such a low rating. I think this is a classy place with great food.

This place was definitely fancy, in the best way possible. Table cloths, lit candles, beautiful glass, copper fixtures. I wasn’t turned away in my jorts and gray t-shirt. Not that I was given the heads up that, «Hey Margaret, we will be going someplace fancy tonight». I dressed up more for Red Lobster the night before but whatever. Sorry, beautiful multi-racial couple canoodling over plates of pasta, that I may have spoiled your view. I elected to get two sides, rather than a main dish. The Lobster Mac and Cheese and the Vegetable Tempura. The Lobster Mac was heavenly and the tempura managed to turn broccoli into pillow-ly bites of breaded joy. Service was immaculate and I can see why the place is so friggin’ popular. I can also see why, when a table was available, my relatives rushed out the door, with nary a moment to dress up.

I write this review with a heavy heart… sadly we all must say good-bye to MS Grill! This location is now closed but I had to drop by with my wife one last time to recall all the great memories. For those of you saying, «what you talkin’ bout Willis?» right about now, don’t worry, they are reopening right down the street! As usual, our reservation for a table in the fire place room was quickly granted to us upon entering the restaurant. This room was extra special being that it was where I proposed to my wife. The The waiter was prompt and courteous and brought over out celebratory bottle of moscato promptly, ice bucket and all. My wife absolutely loves the bread rolls and they are a fluffy, sweet blend of dough that makes you think your biting into a cloud smeared with butter! Our meal came perfectly timed. I ordered the 14 oz Delmonico Prime Rib-eye with a side baked potato and it was absolutely delicious. I ordered it medium and it was a little over cooked but the juicy flavors I long for in a medium were still there. A pleasant surprise came in the form of a bacon wrapped jalapeño and it really complimented the steak. The baked potato was great and comes with bacon, cheese, sour cream, and butter on the side. My wife ordered the Spicy Shirmp Pasta and it was a lovely, creamy texture that really blended well with the most crisp, freshest shrimp I have ever tasted! I’m not usually a shrimp kind of person because they often don’t taste fresh, but once I took a bite of my wife’s dish I couldn’t help but pause for a moment to really appreciate the freshness. We were going to dive into a dessert but just simply could not after the lovely meal we had just had. I will definitely be looking forward to their new location over on Sunbowl & Mesa!

It’s hard to say anything bad about this place. The Mesa Street Grill has been a staple restaurant in my life here in El Paso, definitely one of the top local restaurants all-around. It’s flexible, with an outdoor, casual seating arbor(nicely misted and temperature controlled, absolutely beautiful to spend a few hours) and a high-end, fine dining experience inside. Long ago I had the best sea bass of my life inside this restaurant, but the prices are outstanding(worth it for the food) and the dress too fancy to ever bring me back to the fine dining again, unfortunately. However, we went for a light dinner and adored the patio seating and bar menu. Their bar burger is HUGE and delicious, the Greek salad refreshing(but very, very sweet), and of course the bacon-jalapeño appetizers are on point. Their pressed coffee is to die for, along with the crème brûlée cheesecake(for as long as it’s on the menu.) Four stars because of the price and my super sweet(and olive-devoid) «Greek» salad. Gonna miss the original location. It reopens after they close the old one supposedly around the 23rd of July(could be later, don’t take my word.)

The good: Our food had excellent presentation, the vegetables were perfect, the steak was tasty, and the salmon was fine although very mild in seasoning. Service was spectacular. The bad: The mango tea had goopy syrup in the bottom. Pretty disgusting to take a sip of it. Overall the atmosphere at the restaurant is fine, but definitely not fine dining. At this price point I’d expect either a nicer atmosphere or amazing food, they didn’t have either.

My husband and I came here for Valentine’s Day last night. I have to say I love the décor and ambiance. Very small but very elegant. Our server AB was very accommodating. I ordered the crab cake and petite filet and my husband ordered the filet and baked potato. Our food took about an hour to come out but it was Valentine’s Day so that was to be expected. My filet was cooked to perfection. The crab cake was great as well although I did find some shell in the crab cake. My dish came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. It would’ve been nice to have some sort of sauce on the mashed potatoes or the steak. I understand steakhouses aren’t big on sauces but it just seemed a little dry. The only sauce was a thin line of chipotle mayo for the crab cake. My husband’s filet was great. He loved it. I didn’t like how it was served a la cart. For 40 bucks you’d think something would come on the side. We had to pay $ 8 for a mediocre baked potato. $ 150 later, we enjoyed our dinner very much but I have had better service and food for less.
