Great service, the patty melt is the best in El Paso. The carnitas are awesome, highly recommend them

I hadn’t visited Tejas Café in quite some time and boy have things changed. Unfortunately the changes were not in a positive direction. The first thing that struck me was lack of a courteous or friendly welcome. My daughter and I walked by at least three employees and not one person bothered to welcome or even greet us. The service left much to be desired(to say the least) and the food was just average. I’m not sure who informed them that water with small pieces of jalapeño and tomato qualifies as salsa, but they definitely need to throw that recipe out and start from scratch. The thing that really gets me is that they have the nerve to have raised their prices by about two dollars per plate since my last visit. This sorry routine gets played out all over El Paso and somehow the business owners still fail to learn for others mistakes. Lacking business=higher prices=OUTOFBUSINESS!!!

I was in the area, starving, and failed to check Unilocal’s ratings. Big mistake… I wasn’t impressed with the food, not even satisfied. So, I’m making this one quick. Pros: Quiet Great Service Inexpensive Dishes Good Portions Cons: My Meal: Grilled Chicken Breast, which lacked taste. My App: Tortilla Chips, which was stale Overall, good thing Tejas doesn’t rely on Unilocal to stay in business. They seem to get enough visits from their regulars. Will I be one of those regulars? I think not.

The good — cheap food. decent service. ok portions. The bad — the food is marginal. We went with the wife, kids and I. We all got different plates and nobody was particularly impressed with their food. I agree with another reviewer in that there’s tons of fantastic mexican food around town so there’s no good reason to eat food that’s sorta ok, at best.

Prices aren’t too bad, actaully cheap. Good portions of food and friendly service. The Mexican combo is the best!

This place was very clean, the portions were big and the service was excellent, but that is where the above average stops. The tacos were greasy, the salsa was inconsistent(one bite would be fine, the next would taste like dishwater) and the prices were not all that great. With all the great Mexican places to eat around the area, they really need to do better than that. And this is another old Pizza Hut building.
