The BBQ was great and even though I had a large order to that I had ordered over the phone they took they the time to make sure everything was there. Already made plans with my office to return very soon.

Great little dive to satisfy some lunch hunger. My wife and I had the pork sandwiches. The meat was very tender and juicy. The flavor of bbq here reminded me of being back in Georgia. We’ll be back.

This is the type of place Unilocal is perfect for. In EP for the weekend with the family and we wanted some authentic barbecue. Unilocal steered us right and we found Tony’s The Pit. It’s been around since 1958 and it is still the perfect BBQ fix. Great smoked meats, communal tables, classic rock radio. What more could you want? A location that doesn’t look like a set for the movie Judgment Night? Vegetarian options? Nah, wouldn’t be real then. Keep it up guys!

If you want to have a great experience, get the beef brisket sandwich, lean meat, with everything.

Heard great things about this place and i was very dissapointed. Staff was awesome and super friendly. sandwiches were very small but the kicker is that the brisket was flavorless and a little on the dry side. The bbq sauce was good and saved the day but i will not be back.

This is a tough one. Because Tony’s is such a cool little dive and because their staff are so friendly, I desperately want to like their barbecue. Unfortunately, it’s really nothing to write home about. The brisket, while dry on occasion, is often cooked quite well only to be criminally under-seasoned. The same thing plagues the pork. Someone’s being stingy with the salt and pepper! The sausage is brought in from Dallas and isn’t bad, but I know firsthand that they can source much better sausage within the great state of Texas. As for their sauce, it’s the vinegar variety(which I personally prefer) rather than the sugary sludge you get elsewhere. Also, while hit-or-miss, Tony’s potato salad is usually pretty tasty. I still return to Tony’s every month or two with my father who, like many other patrons, has been frequenting the place for decades. The food may not be spectacular, but that’s not due to a lack of passion on the part of the kitchen staff. And anyway, it’s by no means terrible(State Line’s barbecue is pricier and much less appetizing… syrupy sweet, bone-dry ribs anyone?). With a little recipe tweaking I think Tony’s could have something very special, but as it is this old neighborhood haunt is special anyway, because it’s offering something that most of El Paso’s bbq slingers just don’t have enough of: good old-fashioned charm.

I enjoyed my stop here mostly because the service was great. That’s not to say the food was bad but, it wasn’t great. The BBQ sauce was not as thick as I would like and the brisket was a little dry. In spite of these downfalls, I would eat here again.

I hated everything about this place. Most especially the food. The pork sandwich was sub-par, and the cheese fries are nothing more than a batch of frozen crinkle cut fries deep fried with a half cup of the cheap nacho cheese sauce poured over them. Who ever told then that could pass off as cheese fries?! On top of that, the location looked as clean as a gas station restroom. It was hard to find. I’m seriously disappointed by the other people who have Unilocaled a positive review, this is the first time Unilocal has lead me astray. I will NOT be coming back, thank you very much.

Working at the medical center I popped up Unilocal to look for BBQ in the area and Unilocal dropped me here. I had a beef special and ordered a extra pulled pork sandwich. Everything was great and I kept throwing down the BBQ sauce to make it sloppy. Both sandwiches were tender and full of flavor. I like paprika on my macaroni salad color, but Tony’s worked well. I also saw that they had burritos using all the different meats. Good décor showing the family and photos from the past. Plan to go again when in El Paso.

Great lunch spot. They have three or four lunch specials each day that are $ 5 with a drink and a side. The classic sandwich is a regular beef sandwich which consists of great brisket cut up with some green salsa, pickles, onions and barbecue sauce on a hamburger bun. There is a reason this place has been around for 50 years.

delicious pulled pork– my true love when it comes to bbq, and something that is not very easy to find as you move more west! friendly staff, home-made french fries, a diverse and bustling lunch crowd– all tucked into south-central el paso. as is often the case with bbq places, you share long tables with backless chairs with other customers– something that fits the mood well. my only complaint would be that it seems like they don’t have a liquor license/don’t even serve beer– it could have just been that it was noon on a thursday and everyone was going back to work, but i didn’t see any kind of listing or display. it may just be me, but i think a good, cold beer is often hand-in-hand with a craving for barbecue!
