This is possibly the worst restaurant in El Segundo. Completely overpriced for food that comes out microwaved(some bites boiling hot while the rest is cold). Total shite. The staff couldn’t care less if they tried. I guess that’s $ 60 bucks that I can kiss goodbye. Recommend others save your money and go anywhere else.

I’m not sure what was worse-the food or the service. Short ribs were cold, Mac n cheese runny and lasagna gummy. And everything was way overpriced for the quality. The staff stood in the corner talking the whole time clearly uninspired to serve customers. First and last visit… do not waste your time or money here.

So, just in town visiting some friends, they decided to eat here for lunch. Also the service was very slow. Had to ask for the heater to be turned on twice since we were sitting in the back outside. The one closest to us didnt turn on but she was able to turn on one down a few tables and asked if we wanted to move or not. We were comfortable where we sat since we had out baby with us too. So my wife just ordered the lasagna last night and it wasn’t very tasty at all. Actually to put it bluntly was plain nasty. Not sure why we took the half uneaten home, but what made it worse is that she ended up with food poisoning about 3 hrs later, when we were walking the Strand in MB! And driving back home she threw up her whole lunch! I got the fettuccine pasta which was not very tasty, but looked good with some ancho orange cream sauce which the server had no idea what it was. Fortunately I didn’t get any food poisoning tho and was able to get back to our parents place about 2hrs later. Not going there again! Pretty much ruined our 5 yr anniversary plans that we were going to celebrate today. Now its just water and pedialyte to recover from it and hopefully get it all out before we gotta fly back to Hawaii!

Meh… Okay, so I had always wanted to try this place and my mom and I both agreed we are never going to come back. I wish I had read Kedar’s review before I tried this place out, because as a vegetarian I totally trust Kedar and his opinion, and I also agree with him! My mom and are vegetarian and eat mostly vegan, so this place seemed like a fun thing to try. Upon entering, the place is very eclectic. There is a lot of cow print and mismatched, uncomfortable chairs. My mom and I sat next to the window. Service was very slow. Waitresses were dealing with two larger holiday parties but still had time to talk amongst themselves and sometimes even text, which was fine except when we were trying to get the bill to pay it was nearly impossible. My mom and I shared a cup of soup, which we did not enjoy, and then both got sandwitches and french fries. The sandwich was portabello pepper sandwich. I found it had way too many peppers and not enough of a mushroom taste. I did not like the soup either. I would not come back for either of these. However, I liked the french fries very much! One thing I will say is that for vegetarian/vegan/glutenfree friendly, this place did not have a lot of options. There are so many other great places in El Segundo, so I probably would not come back but glad I tried it so I’m never left wondering.

It has been a few years since I first ate at this restaurant, so my boyfriend and I stopped in for dinner after some of our other go-to restaurants were crowded. The food was so bad, that I can’t understand how it is in business or has any return customers. It has literally become a top candidate for Kitchen Nightmares . The service was OK — servers were friendly but service was a bit slow which was surprising because the restaurant was less than half full during the time we were there, and apparently the cook was just serving re-heated food. The food was disgusting. My boyfriend ordered the BBQWAGYUBEEFBONE-INSHORTRIBS, but what he received was a large, untrimmed(i.e. excess fat), poorly seasoned and poorly cooked slab of beef ribs which appeared to be boiled(certainly not slow-cooked) and then doused with canned BBQ sauce. I ordered NONNARINA’S AUTHENTICLASAGNA which was dry and crusty around all edges as if it was assembled several days prior and sitting in a pan to dry out. It was barely warm, the flavor was bland, and honestly, the meat could have been cardboard pulp for all I know. It had no texture; it was dry and flattened out into little bits of brown mush. It would probably work alright for a garage sale sign but certainly not for lasagna. I agree with others who’ve said the prices are a little steep, but when the food and dining experience is enjoyable, we tend to look past the higher prices. However, that is not the case here. There can’t possibly be anyone who works there(or owns it) that has enough culinary experience to actually think serving such mediocre food is acceptable, especially at those prices. The portions were substantial but why does that matter when the food isn’t palatable? I’ve had a few bad meals in my time, but I don’t think I’ve ever had such regret wasting my time and money to eat such horrible food. I really wish we hadn’t walked in the door and asked to be seated.

Been a few years since I’ve been to the Farm Stand. Wandered in the other day, after my first choice was closed. Tried out the Brunch menu this time. Got the vegetable omelette. Huge portion size, and pretty darn tasty. Not a broad spectrum of veggies, but good enough. Lots of cheese. Only one waitress on staff and the restaurant was about half full. I felt bad for her, she was pulled a lot of ways and not able to check up on us or quite a few others. People wandering into the restaurant looked lost/confused and were calling out ‘Hello??’. Kind of distracting. The food is AOK. It’s not enough to pull me back in, if I was in El Segundo. Decent establishment, broad menu.

I love the location of this restaurant. It’s in Downtown El Segundo, which I had no idea existed. I had no idea El Segundo goes as deep as it does. I discovered Farm Stand because they liked one of my pics on Instagram, so I went to their page then to their website and thought it sounded and looked good so I bookmarked them. I went on a beautiful Sunday afternoon when there just so happened to be a car show going on in Downtown El Segundo which was great fun to eat our brunch on the sidewalk and view the cars at the same time. My cousin had the fried chicken and waffle while I had the short ribs benedicts. My cousin says that the chicken was seasoned well but I could have been crispier. My benedicts were tasty but VERY rich. Between the egg yolks and the sauce the short ribs were in, I felt like my arteries were clogging and it actually started to become difficult to eat because of the richness. I could have used a squirt of lemon juice to cut through it. We also had the hummus as an appetizer. It was roughly blended so it was still a little chunky and not as thick as I am used to hummus being, but it had good flavor. I’d go back to try something from their lunch or dinner menu.

Work lunch. Why not. No reservations needed. Tons of tables available during lunch. We opted to sit inside as today was a really windy day, but patio seating was available. I was curious enough to try their pita bread and it came with a(super) mild chili oil. THAT was a good starter. They were flavored just right, soft and fluffy! For the entrée, I got their lasagna with a side salad. It’s different than what I’m used to — the pasta itself was thin and so was the spread in between, but there was 5 layers of goodness workin’ it! That was fantastic! My colleagues got the linguini bolognese(I had a bite — that was good as well. It wasn’t watery and the pasta was cooked just right), a couple of them ordered the lamb burger(they said they really like the blend of the flavor of the meat and the freshness of the tomatoes and lettuce) and another ordered the chicken breast sandwich(I was told that was cooked just right — nice and juicy with great flavor.) They had sides of shoestring fries(tried that, too, and I couldn’t stop eating that as well! I loved the thinness and the crunch!) Only thing is that the food took a little longer than we expected(since the place wasn’t really packed or anything) but the wait might have been because of the multiple to-go and delivery orders that was continuously coming out of the kitchen. Would definitely recommend!

It is one of the verryyyy few good places in el segundo. They have fresh organic healthy food. I’ve come here twice for lunch and the quality is consistent. My favorite is the tumeric chicken. The steak with roquefort sounds better than it ends up being. Finally the Turkish eggplant was good but had a little too much oil for my preference . Overall the service was fine. The place gets busy at lunch time. I would not drive out of my way to come here but since I work in el segundo and my options are limited I’ll probably be back.

Take the food to go! We have been coming here for many years and tonight will be the last time. The food for the most part has always been excellent but the service is a consistent disaster. Tonight started off by finding out that the one thing my husband likes was sold out(well after he ordered it of course.) After that, is was just a never ending situation of mistake after mistake. I can handle honest mistakes but when the staff hides from you and makes snippy comments, it is just downright unprofessional. Won’t be returning.

Nice leisurely Lunch Like a farm So I have been meaning to come here for awhile now since I started working in El Segundo, but the prices have scared away my co-workers so I decided to visit one warm Fall day. I guess you can say Farm Stand is in the«Mayberry» part of El Segundo on Main Street and there is street parking and I think there is a lot out back. After reading the menu it looks like they do a lot of sustainable-farm to table stuff, which means they have a seasonal menu. Also I noticed it was a little on the spendy side for lunch. I ordered the lamb french dip and soup of the day. While I was waiting for my soup they brought a little plate with carrot sticks celery and tahini dressing. The soup was some veggie soup that was really tasty, but I really forgot what it was called. I am glad my server timed everything and did not bring out everything together. The lamb french dip came with slaw but could be substituted with either fries or a kale salad. I opted for the kale salad so I could feel good about myself later. The lamb french dip looked pretty plain on the plate coming on a crusty roll and not pre-dipped like at Philipes in DTLA, but that au jus was some sh*t. So rich that it could afford its own Manhattan condo. So rich it could have its own yacht named Lamb Au Jus, well you get the point. The lamb meat was very tender, but could have been sliced a little thinner, and the crusty roll would have been better as a french roll. I guess I am too old fashioned when it comes to french dips. Even though I was not in hurry to get back to the office, the whole experience took just over and hour which is sorta a long time for a weekday lunch unless you are a Manhattan Beach Mommy or a trust fund baby. I really like the farm stand, but will wait to come back in another season since I have already done Summer.

In a cute quaint part of downtown El Segundo, we came here with a large birthday party(about 40+) for one of my best GFs. This place is not large but rather, long and narrow. We took up half the space in the«private» dining area which had a glass window divider, which kept the look, open and spacious. They boast healthy, organic food. I met one of the chefs who proudly boasted this was one of the first and most well known organic restaurants in the area. I got to sample the pumpkin ravioli which reminded me of a gingery, Thanksgiving pumpkin pie. Delish. I saw Kobe burger on the menu and had to try it. The brioche bun was a bit dry but overall, good. I probably would try something else the next time I come here. The servers were attentive with our large group. This is a decent place to meet up with your GFs or even a date with a health conscious person. There was adequate street parking for a Friday night.

Service was a bit slow. There’s also no changing table in the bathrooms, which is a shame. I wasn’t sure what to expect: this place seems to tread the boundary between casual café and upscale hipster eatery. I guess it’s a wine bar on the casual side. The top-40 music was kinda weird. Food was great, though! The vegan meatballs were especially awesome!

Overall: Very good food, plentiful portions. Good for lunch. Service is usually quite good. Food: Very good. I’ve had at least a half a dozen entrees and all of them have really been very good. Salads and lamb pomegranate stew are really excellent. Ginger lemonade is also a different and unique experience that I recommend. A lot of good combinations but most food would be considered ‘different’ or ‘unusual’. so as a result, I would say probably not a good choice for families where kids like ‘roast beef on bread’. Price: OK. A bit on the expensive side. At the upper end of the $$ range… Lunch for two often runs $ 50. Atmosphere: Trendy. Can get quite crowded but for whatever reason stays pretty quiet. Net: Good food, good experience/atmosphere/service. Good for relaxed pace lunch. Definitely OK for a business lunch.

I’ve noticed that if my friends and I linger after finishing our meal but before paying the bill, we get offered free dessert. Coincidence? I THINKNOT. Also, their burgers are pretty«meh». The lamb burger is the better option, but neither one lived up to our expectations. Definitely avoid.

Ordered the lasagna and it was good but not as warm. Slight cool to it but was so hungry that I didn’t care to complain. I only then complain after I paid the bill. Didn’t want to think I was one of those people who were trying to get a free meal. If it was warmer for sure would have given this place more stars. That and the food for take quite some time to come out. The filler food was good, instead of chips or breaks, we got celery and carrots which was a nice refreshing change.

The Farm Stand — Fresh healthy but the dishes were mostly lacking in that bit of piazzas that would have put this restaurant at the next level. I thoroughly enjoyed the service — helpful, knowledgeable with good sense of humor. Next time? Maybe lunch?

Farmstand is a lovely restaurant offering fine casual dining on the east side of Main Street in El Segundo — just north of Grand. With a parking lot on the south side of the building, it is an easy spot to come to. They take reservations, which we had made, but there were plenty of tables available on President’s Day. They have a decent sized restaurant that is long and skinny with a covered/heated patio that matches the floorplate of the restaurant on the north side of the building. The restaurant is done largely in black and white with banquettes lining the walls, white pedestal tables, and chairs opposite the banquettes. They use butcher paper on the tables, and the walls exhibit an eclectic art collection. There is also a small bar at the back end of the restaurant with a television airing the game of the night. The servers are a group of gals who are friendly and there are enough of them. However, they are a little disorganized(who’s on break, who’s covering what table, etc.) Fortunately, they tend to pitch hit for each other, so you will eventually get what you need. We asked about the soup of the day, which was called«Green Soup.» It was essentially a purée of greens that we were reluctant try, so they brought samples for three of the adults in our party of 6 — very generous. Ultimately, I did not like the soup so I did not order any more. I thought that it was bitter. Instead, we ordered the Stuffed Mushrooms appetizer, which was ABSOLUTELYAWESOME. 5 mushrooms were stuffed with a blend of bacon, herbs and bread crumbs and topped with a basil pecan«coriander» cream sauce and some chopped tomatoes. The herbaceous cream sauce was generous but not overly heavy. The filling in the mushrooms was meaty and well seasoned. These were A+. At the same time, our daughter’s kid’s meal arrived — Mac and Cheese($ 6.95). Orechiette were tossed in a cheese sauce with flavors of white cheddar, parmesan and brie. It was delicious, and the 2 year old enjoyed it. Kudos to Farmstand for bringing flavor to the kids menu. One criticism is that the menu is out of date, and the urban meatloaf was not available as advertised. DD ordered the lasagna($ 15.95), which was served with a side of mixed greens. He thought that it was a little dry, so he asked for additional sauce(a blend of Bolognese and béchamel). It came immediately and he devoured the dish — I didn’t even get a bite. DM ordered the lamb burger($ 13.95) with caramelized onions and blue cheese($ 1) as well as the Mendocino slaw. When requesting the burger medium rare, she was told that it comes one way because of the marinade. I really don’t think that was necessary, and it would have been much better had it been cooked to the requested temperature. Despite that, the medium well burger was flavorful, but not very juicy. The cheese/onion topping was generous. We skipped the bun — it was bready and not fluffy. The slaw was a big miss for me — chopped cabbage in a very creamy dressing that was underseasoned and lacked the tang you look for. DH ordered the Walnut Pomegranate Stew with lamb($ 16.95). This dish was outstanding. The sweet-tart pomegranate purée was filled with tender bits of lamb and served along a generous helping of rice. Personally, I would not order this because I want veggies on the plate, but the meat was SO good. It was perfect for someone who loves meat and not veggies. I had the stuffed bell pepper($ 14.95) which was outstanding. A red bell pepper was stuffed with a mixture of ground chicken and beef and rice and inverted over a pool of sauce made from tomato and béchamel. The pepper was sweet, the filling was moist and well seasoned, and the sauce was not overly acidic. I requested double vegetables and no potatoes, so I had a beautiful assortment — crisp green beans, sautéed yellow bell peppers, a roasted tomato, carrots, etc. A+ For dessert, DD got the brownie with coconut ice cream. The brownie was dry and the ice cream was more like ice chips. DH ordered the oatmeal raisin cookie which was dry and flavorless. I ordered Nonna’s Tiramisu($ 7) which was delicious. It did not have the pistachios advertised, which was very disappointed by. It did have great lady fingers dipped in expresso and layered with light and fluffy marscapone cream and topped with minced chocolate shavings. I highly recommend this dessert, and it is huge — enough for two. Farmstand was a nice place to go with decent, somewhat unprofessional service and some absolute hits on the menu. Just watch out for the misses on the menu and be prepared for less than stellar service!

One of my favorite places to eat great food but definitely not one of my favorite places to look at. The theme of the restaurant is extremely confused. Cow print chairs, modern tables with butcher paper, local art on the walls, Christmas decorations in January, a magicians business card on every table and a mostly Persian menu with Greek and Italian dishes mixed in. Confused right? But besides ALL that is going on the food is absolutely prefect. My favorite appetizers are the hummus, the baked eggplant dip and the goat cheese and honey. My favorite main dishes are the pomegranate stew, the ground chicken, the lamb burger and the eat all your vegetables. Everything is extremely well prepared and cooked to perfection. The lamb burger especially is so full of flavor. The pomegranate stew with chicken or lamb shank is absolutely decadent. They also have the best cooked rice I have ever had in any restaurant. Needless to say I will be back again and again but a more focused atmosphere would lend itself well to this establishment.

One of the best things about living in LA is the plethora of progressive restaurants serving up vegan, non-GMO, gluten free, or whatever other diet kick we may be on. While I’m not vegan myself, I respect those that are able to stick with it even with temptations all around. While my vegan sister was in town visiting me I was searching to eateries that cater to the herbivores in our world. Farm Stand came high on the list so we decided to make the drive to El Segundo to give it a shot! The close proximity to LAX is great too if you need to drop someone off later that night. Main Street in this small beach town is lined with indie boutiques and a variety or restaurants. In fact, just on the other side of the parking lot from Farm Stand is a charbroiled burger joint! The dinner menu at Farm Stand is full of pastas and even several meat dishes(organic and/or non-GMO). The dishes have small symbols beside them letting you know if they are vegan, vegetarian, non-GMO, etc with a legend at the bottom to clarify. My sister landed on the vegan linguine(with meatless meatballs and organic tomato sauce) which was amazing! Even the most die hard of carnivores would have liked these vegan-friendly meatballs! I went with«Everyone’s favorite» pumpkin ravioli(housemade pumpkin filling and organic basil cream). With a name like that it must be good! While pumpkin is always way over done every fall/winter, this dish was subtle enough to be enjoyed year-round! While the food at Farm Stand is delicious, it’s their stance on healthy food that makes the visit worth it. The kitchen is as environmentally friendly as can be with low-flow water systems, recycled and bio-degradable plastic goods, and they even recycle their oils! If you’re near the coast and in the mood for some healthy food, Farm Stand is the place for you!
