Service is $h@t waited a half hour for a medium rare burger, which came out well done. The place was fairly empty. I specifically asked how he knew how done each burger was done as my buddy ordered a med well burger. We both got well done. No apology from the waiter or no offer to improve service. Asked to have burger removed from bill, oddly enough that came very swiftly. Jeremiah you suck as a waiter, after messing up an order 40 min in is not the time to try and improve service. Will not return here again

Great service and food! Better experience than expected. I had some questions about the menu and the manager was more than happy to answer any questions I had. Hard to find at any restaurant ! Music was hip, great ambiance and it was clean! I will for sure be coming back. The bison is the best I’ve had in the longest!!! Totally worth the trip :) Thanks Jurni for the great experience

Edit — It was my great delight to have given this establishment a 5 star review, however after my travels I went back(about 3 weeks) and checked my CC statement and it had a ridiculous charge of nearly double what my original food cost was. I called the first time to talk to someone about it. Felix the manager answered the call. He took my information and was going to call me back… and he never did. I called again a couple days later to see if I could talk to someone about it. Andy answered the phone… He said he would relay the message to a manager… I waited that day for the call and nothing. So I need to express my shoddy experience trying to get this resolved. When dining here please make sure to check your CC statement as they might overcharge you!!! Our server was great, very knowledgeable about the good. He even had suggestions to pair with certain foods. I had the Sonoma bowl and blueberry vodka lemonade, delish

Stopped by for dinner on Sunday. The first thing we saw is that they had a sign on the front door that states they are closing early due to low stock in the restaurant. The sign did not say that, it just said they were closing and then the staff told us they were low on items in the store. The service and the way things are done are much different. When the order is given to the customer at the table and they are out of the specific item, they just don’t tell you. It’s like a guessing game. It certainly felt that they were doing us a favor by servicing us. What happen to customer service. When we were ready to pay our bill, the bill was given to us however it seems they forgot about us as they never came to pick it up. Perhaps I will receive a message from the management as to the reason for the change in service.

Okay, I had never had a roasted grape tomato nor anything«hippie» but their hippie salad was definitely a winner! Add the chicken, yummy flavor and ready to be devoured.

I am surprised this place is still open. Even with nobody in the restaurant, service is extremely slow plus they do not listen very well to their customers when they brought out a brownie that we wanted to eat at the restaurant with ice cream and boxed it up for take out with no ice cream. The one star rating is also for taste. Their burgers just don’t taste that good.

On our way to Dockweiler Beach, we were looking for a nice spot for lunch that was different than the strip restaurants and Disney Park food, we had been eating for 4 days and came across The Counter. It was exactly what we needed. A nice cold brew, some Parmesan fries and burgers custom made with what we wanted on them. And less expensive than almost every other meal we had prior on our vacation. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. If ever I find myself in the area again, I would totally drop in and eat here.

Business very slow, hardly anyone here, less than 10 people. Allot of staff for no work. I wonder how they stay in business. Check brought before asked if I wanted dessert, do they have it?

I got a burger at the Counter after a night of driving balls at The Lakes because, why not? I ordered my almost $ 30 dollar burger to go and patiently waited. I tasked for my burger to be cooked medium well. This burger is not cooked medium well. I don’t eat beef that is pink, near red. I just don’t. It’s not what I asked for. I find this happens consistently with the beef Burger patties at the counter. It’s kind of a bummer to have to re-cook the food you just spent really good money on. It should have been slightly pink, not DVF bubblegum pink like what I cut into. I think next time I’ll save the money and go to In-N-Out…

How did I not gave this place a visit before… First visit and I think I’m in love You see, i have a very specific kind of taste, I don’t eat raw onion, don’t like tomatoes, don’t care about lettuce and generally«if it’s healthy, it’s not for me» kind of guy so finding this kind of menu, on which you mark your very specific, own selections is a real treat. I’ve ordered ½lb beef, broiled egg, roasted red bell peppers, roasted chilies and olive mix, on a gebeta bread, all escorted by a cherry tomatoes marmalade, which was a blast!!! Fries were great, slim cut, very crunchy, with just the right amount of salt. There was a disappointment though, defiantly not a deal breaker or something that will prevent me from visiting here in the future again; the meat was over cooked and missed our requested level of doneness :( That’s the only reason this place only got four stars and not five, cause I’m already a fan and I promise to update this report in the next visit. hopefully.

Excellent Burgers. Fresh Meat. A bit pricey. Good service, on subsequent visits I’ve encountered kind of a snobby attitude. The place has a fresh, clean vibe, but cannot beat other establishments like Islands for service, quality, value for the money, and making you feel welcome and at home.

Downgraded from 5 stars to 3 stars and now only 1 star. I’m utterly disappointed in the service and they changed the menu look/ordering style(again!). Lack of service. Sticky seats. Freezing outside and still have both garage windows open. No wonder no one was sitting in the center seating area-because it was ridiculously cold. Asked them to close them and they could care less. Wanted to walk out before even ordering but reluctantly stayed. Happy Hour specials is a joke. Nothing special there.

Horrible atmosphere. Really poor service. Never been before and made that clear several times. Server could care less, offered zero suggestions, ideas, comments. Asked about new wings and seemed to care less and be clueless about them. The whole place looked in shambles. Nobody working there seems to want to be there. Ordered and then decided to just leave since couldn’t imagine it being a good experience. Went to HopDoddy and it was fantastic. Would never go to The Counter again.

Today I was taken to the counter for the first time by a friend. I decided to try their southern fried chicken sandwich. So their menu lists the different components that comprise the sandwich,(buttermilk brined * jalapeño jack * tomatoes * coleslaw * fresh jalapeños * honey dijon * brioche bun). Well, when I got my sandwich I was missing the cheese, honey Dijon and jalapeños, but it had a lot of pickles which weren’t on the list. I thought about telling my waiter but he disappeared and never bothered to ask us how our food was or If we needed anything. I was disappointed and a bit mad that I couldn’t even get a refill on my drink. After I finished my meal which was a mission, and only because I don’t believe in wasting food we were getting ready to go and I heard two other tables complaining that the service was really, really slow and almost negligent. First impressions really matter, and now I will think twice if I ever want to go back. If I do, I hope we are seated where the waiter/waitress are more attentive to the customers. IFYOUWANTTOBUILDYOUROWNBURGER, TRYSLATERS50⁄50. Betters service, better food.

*It would have been 3 stars except for the awesome hostess who made my night* Came here on a Thursday night with just myself and my two kids ages 3 and 1.5. The place was not packed. It wasn’t even 6pm, maybe 3 – 4 other tables, I think all of them had been served already. I had the most careless waitress ever. She kept disappearing and hanging in the back by the kitchen. Was never looking around to see if I needed her(or any other table for that matter. Things this waitress sucked at: — I asked for water for all 3 of us. She brought me one for me and one kids water. Gee thanks that’s not gonna cause a fight right away. Then took forever to get another kids water — Specifically asked me if I wanted pickles on my kids burgers, I said no. It still came out with pickles — my food came out when my kids was almost done I saw another table with another waitress that came in after me get all of their food before me — Parmesan fries were cold and mushy — could not get her attention when I needed more sauce, napkins, the check — when I asked her for some to go boxes, she brought three with no bag. So careless, how am I supposed to carry out 3 boxes and two kids? Bring a fucking bag dude. Then of course she disappears again and it was impossible to get her attention to get me a bag — when she brought the check she placed it way on the other side of the table under some napkins and menus so I didn’t see it and had to try to find her again to see if she had even brought it Contrast to the hostess: — super sweet young lady. She was so sweet to my kids. Acknowledging them and the fact that I was alone with them. Asking if they both needed kids menus and crayons — right away brought me a high chair and booster — watched my 3 year old while I ran to the bathroom to wash the baby’s hands — offered to take my 3 year old to wash her hands but I declined. I asked her if she could come with me to help and she totally didn’t hesitate and did it with the friendliest attitude. — every time I could not find the waitress, she helped me get her I gave the hostess a tip just for herself and a smaller on to the waitress even though she didn’t deserve any. The food is decent. Nothing special but a good solid burger. I prefer my sauce inside my burger but seems this place doesn’t do that. Kids burgers could have been more well done on the inside. The fries were a bit soggy but overall for a casual burger place with tons of options it is not bad. I’m sure I’ll end up here again.

I need to stop dining here. Somehow what ends up on my plate is never exactly what I ordered. For example, I check brioche bun and get a Hawaiian bun. This wasn’t a big deal, but if I hated Hawaian bread(Okay, who hates Hawaian bread?) I would be upset. I’ve paid the extra 50 cents for the pretzel bun and was sorely disappointed. My understanding is the Counter is a place where you can make your burger exactly how you want it. This has never been the case for me. The location is also much smaller than other Counters I’ve been to. They also have cheap metal chairs which are uncomfortable. Therefore, I’ve concluded this establishment is too pricey given the several burger options in this area. Not to mention the food also always takes so long to come out.

The Counter really has some fantastic burgers! Having waited too long and found it way too much to meat to eat in one sitting by eating the pounder last time, he went for the smaller size this time and found it just right. The shoestring fries are ok, nothing special and the service is a bit of a hit or miss. Wait times can be long, best time to go is when they open. Plenty of parking and seating, location is clean and well maintained. The veggie burger was amazing, very tasty, worth every penny. The prices are a bit higher, but I feel the quality is there, great stop for burgers in the area!

EACHCOUNTERISDIFFERENT; THISONEIS «NEIGHBORHOODY» This review has taken awhile to get to the top of queue & «reviews to write». Like 2 years or so, but it was a fun and good experience. David(server) & Rose(the manager) had a lot to do with it. They gave it a warm and neighborhood feel. Located in the Plaza El Segundo, nice and relatively new, it’s tucked in one of the back corners of. As all The Counters have, with clipboard you choose your bun(or lettuce or bowl), your meat/veggie burger, how big(¼ pound to 1 pound, $ 9.50-$ 18), 4 toppings, cheese, and any premium toppings for an extra cost. They also offer a unique special burger-of-the-month(ie. tuna), and a special flavor shake… which makes a nice compliment if you wish to be extra-piggy. What you get is really good burger. Not tippie-top of my «Berger knows: Burgers» list, but right up there for a burger chain. If that’s not enough, get the 33÷33÷33 which for you non-math people, means a 1⁄3 of Fries, 1⁄3 of sweet potato fries, and 1⁄3 onion rings. My favorite is the veggie burger — it’s absolutely one of the best I’ve ever had! Just to note: if you are watching your carbs, it’s not low. You’re better off with a beef or turkey burger. My personal«beef», per say, is that a 1⁄3 lb is too small, and a 2⁄3 lb is too big. ½ lb is what I would like… and it’s not an option!!! C’mon!

I very seldom do burgers… I went to this place as I was on a road trip to pick-up a motorcycle in Long Beach. It’s my friend who took me there… and it’s a great burger place! They propose fully customizable burger(Build your own: select your meat, bun, condiments, sides… etc…so watch out as you might get an over-sized un-bite-able sandwich!), you have a multitude of possible burger combinations. Meat is excellent, burger add-ins are very fresh and well prepared, sides are greats(huge fan of the coleslaw and their tiny potatoes fries) and the staff is super awesome! Slow service(under-staffed). Worth the wait though.
