OMG. Real food. Good breakfast food. Hole in a wall, kinda divy but just perfect. Be prepared to wait if you’re dining on the weekends… the wait isn’t long but the space is pretty small.

This is an old-fashion breakfast café and for what it is, it is great. One waitress does it all. She is very efficient and quite pleasant to look at, as well. Portions are large. Food is of good quality. Seating is very limited. They have a counter with about ten chairs, about five booths and maybe three two seater tables. The people squeeze three-four folks into those two-seaters. Nice thing is all the local merchants can be seen eating there. The tailor was there one day, the carpet guy a different day. It is the longest running restaurant that I am aware of in the city as it was here at least since the 1960s.

The food: no frills, just great home cook style food, it def hits the spot. Décor: feels like grandma’s home. You want to see the latest Pantone color on a wall? Uh… Leave. Service: AH-Mazing! Just like home. Saw one of the chef come out to check on another table(prob know the party) and the rest of the staff, gives you the impression you are at their house :) and perhaps the older guy in the kitchen is Jose ;) sooo cool. Overall: The place to be when you just want some home cooked meal and feel at ease not having to dress up.

TL;DR I enjoyed their Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs for breakfast. I would recommend the home potatoes as your side rather than the hash browns as they were said to be bland by the two people who ordered them in our party. I really enjoyed eating here. The food was good and the staff was very friendly. As soon as you walk in you feel like you’ve gone back in time. In this fast paced world we live in, it feels nice to enter a place that isn’t filled with tv’s and radios once in a while and enjoy a quiet, peaceful meal by other like minded customers. The décor made me feel right at home and the food was also very good. I had the Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs with home potatoes and thought everything tasted great. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are generous… my kind of place! They also gave me toast(rye) with butter. I really liked eating here and will be coming back to try other items. I will say that two of my coworkers got hash browns with their meals and they said that they were super bland so I would stick to the home potatoes if I were you. Glad we decided to come try this place out. Pros: + Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs + Home potatoes + Good prices + Generous portions + Friendly staff Cons: — Hash browns were bland

I’ve only been here once but it’s a cute hole in the wall: nothing too fancy but feels like I’m at home. Great breakfast selections with cozy interior that reminds me of back in the days. Will visit again soon!

Cash only. This is a great ma and pop place for brunch! Expect long lines out the door because the food is great! I got the chili omelette, and man it is pretty hearty! It comes with hash browns and your choice of toast. The omelette is pretty filling and the quality of the food is great. Service is very friendly. Only thing though is that parking can be hard to find. There is a parking area(forgot how much for the first hour), but there’s also street parking as well. Would definitely come here again to try other things on the brunch menu!

Favorite breakfast spot on the westside. I love Wendy’s Place. This little diner is absolutely fabulous. They have a very small town vibe and the prices are right. If there is a line outside, just sign up on the clipboard and wait for your name to be called. They have several booths, a few tables and bar seating. My go-to is Jose’s special omelette with hash browns with peppers and onions with a side of buttered toast. The salsa that comes with the omelette packs a nice amount of heat. I have tried the french toast which is really nice and fluffy. I have also ordered the chicken fried chicken. Everything has been great. Wendy’s delivers consistently good breakfast food. Cash only. Bank of America is around the corner!

This was my first time coming to this place and let me tell you… delicious. Simple breakfast made fresh. The place took me back to the 60’s. It’s very old fashioned but very unique. Everything in here is vintage but definitely a conversation starter. The service was amazing .the waitress was super nice, we got our food very quickly and it was exactly how we ordered. Definitely coming back… a hidden spot in El Segundo. Please note this place takes cash only. but it’s ok. we ran to the gasoline station across the street. Excellent service and good food.

I was in the area and was looking for a good diner ala Norm’s, to get some breakfast. I’m glad I found this spot. The food was great, portions were good, the toast was nice and buttery, and the coffee cup never went empty, even the prices were good. I will definitely be coming back next time I’m in the area. FYI, it’s cash and check only so make sure u bring cash.

I’m very proud of myself for having discovered Wendy’s Place! It’s an adorable neighborhood diner where you feel right at home, even on your first visit. Not only were the servers friendly, but so were the other patrons. At one point, when the servers were busy, one of the customers(clearly, someone who had been going to Wendy’s for years) got up and started refilling everyone’s coffee cups with a big smile on his face. How awesome is that?! Plus, the décor at Wendy’s is cute and makes you feel like you’ve gone back in time. The restaurant is very well kept, without losing the charm of a place that has clearly been around for a while. But it doesn’t stop there, because the food at this gem of a diner is delicious! The portions are great and the flavors are spot on. And after a satisfying meal, you can walk around the adorable streets of downtown El Segundo. Wendy’s Place is just perfect for a Sunday morning brunch, followed by a stroll.

Warning to newbies. CASHONLY. Why would you not put a sign on the front door for newcomers? Big duh! As for the café itself, it was a throwback in time café, the food was basic average café food and the service was nice. You can tell they were all regulars inside, the food was good enough to come back a second time when I’m in the area.

Poached eggs are done well: perfectly moist whites and runny yolk to soak up with their biscuits or hash. Hash browns with bell pepper and onions are nice and crispy, with a well browned outside while still moist inside, nicely seasoned, very lightly salted which I prefer. Chicken fried steak is awesome! Perfectly crisp and seasoned batter, with a nice moist steak inside. Biscuits have a good flavor, and the gravy is good, but it could be just a little fluffier or flakier, and the edges, while a nice brown, are almost rubbery in some bites. Thing is, when it comes to biscuits, texture is just as much of the battle as flavor, so I’m shrugging a mehh here. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

CASHONLY!!! Parking: You can park on the street or at the 99 cent store parking structure This dinner is so hipster and cute! They have a lot of old pictures and puzzle pictures all over the walls. Downside, it’s very small, only 20 people max? As for the food, I got the Eggs Benedict with Ham, and it was absolutely delicious! Their cheesy sauce over the eggs was great. Although I wish their hash browns were cooked a bit more crisper. As for the service, it’s pretty good. The chef who brought over my friends pancakes was singing to him. Most of the customers here are regular old folks, so my friend and I felt a bit out of place. Would I go out of my way to come here? Maybe not. I only came here since my friend and I were craving breakfast food when we both dropped off our family members at the airport. Don’t let my opinion stop you though, you should definitely give this place a try.

If you like big portions at low prices then this place might be for you. If you value taste, cleanliness, presentation, and service, then not so much. waiting 30 minutes for a table at 10:30 am on a Friday is bad enough. taking 10 minutes to clear a table already empty for 5 minutes made it more frustrating especially when the tabletop was not at least wiped clean. They only take cash or check and somehow we all missed any sign stating this. if it’s there it’s not obvious. the food is inexpensive and plentiful but not very good. home fries were greasy and had the effect of being over cooked but that appears to be by design. the French Toast was not bad. not worth the wait and definitely not 4 star worthy. lots of hugs and smiles and time spent chatting with for what appeared to be regulars but no love for us out of towners.

Chicken fried steak and eggs? Excellent! Did a Unilocal search and settled on Wendy’s in El Segundo over other options in Manhattan Beach – I prefer the quieter environs of El Segundo, anyway. Old school café w/seating about evenly split between counter and tables. I arrived at 0800 on a Friday and the place was ¾ full — good sign. By the time I left 45 mins later, folks were waiting for a seat. The chow? It all looked good, and though the menu is not expansive, I was quite pleased w/simple chicken fried steak and scrambled eggs. Gravy was about perfect: not too salty, and just enough to last until the final bite. Hash browns were tasty and perfectly cooked crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Coupled with friendly and efficient service, and I’m a fan! Cheers! RS
