An incredible local breakfast spot that is dog friendly. The staff is as great as the food. They always make us, and our dogs feel right at home!!! The jalapeño hash is my favorite!

I asked to have my Mother delivered breakfast this am as a special gift. After a long two hours, I got a call to tell me they were refunding my bill. And could not deliver. So, how do you think that felt to tell my Mom she couldn’t have breakfast? From NYC? That’s local service at its worst. @grubhub @seemless Bravo getting worse.

Awesome breakfast food. I ordered one of their specials of the day which was delicious omelette and came with hash and toast. Large portions, I couldn’t finish the meal. We sat outside and our waitress was very friendly with our dog. We had a friend in town from NYC and said it topped his favorite NY diners. Overall great experience!

The manager on duty charged me $ 11 for a breakfast sandwich. For 2 slices of bread, 2 strips of bacon and a slice of cheese. Probably cost them $ 1.50 to make. I did not want the fruit or hash browns that came with it and«Zee» told me she still had to charge me for it because she’s not the owner. CRIMINAL! Will not ever recommend or go back. #thelocalyolkrobbinglocals

Friendly service is always a good place to start. Speedy service is always good too. The food was okay. Nothing spectacular. I ordered classic benedict and bf ordered veggie benedict. We also shared two pancakes. Food came out fast and hot, which is what we wanted. Reasonably priced. No wait. Can’t give it 4 stars because I reserve that for better presentation. I am only taking stars off for boring presentation. If you are hungry and need to eat, this place has food. Staff was super friendly which goes a long way with me.

I had read a review in a local freebie paper about how great the Local Yolk is. Boy were we disappointed! It’s nothing special. It’s not even average. I think the restaurant reviewer should get a new job. The service was good. Nice people. The food was cold, otherwise, it would have been average… maybe. The hash browns tasted like the oil they were cooked in was off a bit. The tortillas were nuked to death. The bisquit was under cooked. It wasn’t very busy because we went during the week but the kitchen was struggling to get the few orders out and correct. I saw several items returned to the kitchen from other diners. I know it’s a local institution and I get that so I think the locals should continue to go but don’t bother if you’re from south Manhattan Beach or farther. It’s not worth the parking hassle.

The Local Yolk is a total classic in the heart of Manhattan beach. This is your ultimate hungover-morning after-need some grub– breakfast spot. It has a really great relaxed vibe and makes you want to spend the rest of your day there hanging out with a cup of coffee, catching up with freinds. They have everything you could want, breakfast burritos, omelets, waffles, pancakes, salads, sandwiches, wraps… Plus some unique dishes like the Jalapeño hash! Be sure to order that for your table to share, it is absolutely delicious.(We get ours extra crispy) The service is lightning fast, so even on the weekend you won’t be waiting too long for a table. Alex is our favorite server, he is so sweet and always remembers my family’s order. If you are in Manhattan be sure to visit The Local Yolk you will not regret it!

Food was ok. Had the Heart Healthy omelet w/the hash browns. Very dull food. However, the service was phenomenal. Our waitress was very sweet and informative when i asked her about the bread options. So, if you want to have breakfast at the beach with courteous waitstaff but dull/bland food, this is the place to go.

My friend and I ate here on my way to Cabo San Lucas. We had stayed the night at a local hotel and ventured over here in search of breakfast options. This is a perfectly serviceable local breakfast diner that offers delicious and serviceable options for all types of typical breakfast fare, from pancakes to bagels, with every egg option in between. You can expect reasonable prices, bottomless hot coffee and good food — nothing fancy mind you — but everyday can’t be fancy. I had the bacon, eggs, and biscuit, while my friend had the bacon, eggs, and bagel. We also had fresh fruit, which was delicious. I’d definitely stop by here if you want to see where the locals eat breakfast and have a surfer breakfast of your own.

People smoking crack with these reviews or they must know the owners. This breakfast was soooo fucking bad that I didn’t even finish my food and didn’t want to bother with a credit. This was disgusting and how can you fuck up, breakfast? It’s the easiest thing you can cook on the griddle. I’m sure 20 years ago, this diner style place reminiscent of Happy Days would’ve been better, like when your dad got you up early in the morning to take you to breakfast, but it feels like the food has been as updated as the entire place. Won’t be coming back until its properly rehabbed and repositioned. C’mon, this is Manhattan Beach for crying out loud! The 3PS system will be brief on this one: 1. Product: disgusting. Still don’t know how this could be screwed up. Had the eggs benedict, one of my favorite breakfasts, and this was so freaking gross I ate one, left the cash, and got out as fast as I could. 2. People: mostly families and middle-aged people. 3. Place: Old with none of the charm of cool old places. And majorly outdated. An old diner like this doesn’t belong in a posh expensive neighborhood like Manhattan Beach. Sorry if that’s snobby, but I’m not living there. 4. Service: weak. No real personal touch to eating at the counter. An experience so underwhelming, I had to go eat again somewhere else to forget about it, until I decided to go on Unilocal and bring back that displeasing memory.

I’m addicted to the jalapeño hash and eggs. I’ve tried one of the omelets and it was pretty good. Once I tried the jalapeño hash, it was all over. I go there specifically for that. I like that they have a few tables for outdoor seating and allow you to bring dogs.

Yes from the outside it looks like your typical beach diner but then you have a bite of their french toast and you’re transported. Every bite is heavenly. Their sausage links are fantastic too. Great diner after a long bike path ride.

I hate to give this place 3 stars after the great service we received. Alex was our waiter and he did a great job of making sure we had everything we needed. 5 stars. Unfortunately the same couldn’t be said about the food. I ordered the Local Yolk Omelette with an orange juice. I’ve heard so many great things about their omelettes but it’s all hype. The side of pancakes were ok, not great. There just wasn’t anything(food) that makes me want to come back. Again the service was great, we had an overall great dining experience but wish the food was better.

I ordered thru DoorDash and was very happy. Other than the fact that my butter packs melted in the bag :(the food was good. Pancakes were delicious! I got the Popeye Special? Hash browns weren’t all that but I think its because of the container. I would try them again but this time I’d go in :)

I thought that I wrote a review on this place before… but I guess not. This is my husband’s go to spot in MB because there usually isn’t a wait for a table during prime breakfast hours. That is key when you have an impatient and hangry 2.5 year old kid. I really appreciate the free muffin and fruit for kids when they sit down, as you know, you can’t just let kids be hungry if you expect to enjoy your own meal. The food is standard breakfast items and my recent choice was the corned beef hash. It was decent, and home made.

Appearance: This is a very small and cozy place to dine in. There are booths, tables, and counter top options. If you’re uncomfortable with the possibility of constantly bumping into people, you have the option of sitting outside(but they’re two seater tables). The tables were clean and not sticky(which is a big plus). There is also an open view to the kitchen. My favorite features are the egg clock on the wall and the old register on display where you pay after dining in. Food/Drinks: I ordered an orange juice and Al’s El Porto omelette with guacamole instead of avocado, ham instead of bacon, hash browns and a side of white toast. The orange juice is always great. However, the ingredients to the omelette were mostly placed on top. I would have liked it to be cooked into the omelette. I’ve also had other dishes in the past. Their classic eggs benny were delicious. The Huevos Rancheros were also delicious. If you’re really hungry, the Gordito Burrito would definitely fulfill your needs. The original pancakes are good, but not great and the hot chocolate is very rich. The coffee doesn’t have much flavor. They should try different flavored creams. Service: Our server’s name was ALEX. We were greeted right away and were given the option for our seating arrangements. He was very patient, friendly, and very considerate! He warned us about the street sweeping on Sundays and urged us to move our cars. After receiving our food, he made sure we had everything we needed and asked if we wanted additional condiments to match our food. Overall Experience: I have been coming here for years. I usually come for the breakfast, but I feel as though quality is starting to decline. I get great service every time I come. The cooks might have been a bit off today. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt for next time.

Cute little diner style place with booths and a counter. Wasn’t crowded on a late weekday morning. Service was quick, food delicious with a expansive menu including unique omelet choices. Ordered the hummus yummos omelet consisting of eggs, sundried tomatoes, goat cheese topped with hummos. Just a little too heavy on the sundried tomatoes. Pancakes were excellent as was the organic expresso. The heart healthy omelet was made with egg whites, onions, bell peppers and mushrooms topped with grilled pineapple and avocado slices. The biscuit was a bit heavy, not flaky as expected. I’d come again as well as recommend, lots of choices on the menu.
