Was traveling through the area the other day returning from Wisconsin.(I sometimes like to take the roads less travelled.) It was lunch time when I spotted Papa G’s on the west side of IL47. Glad I stopped! Excellent food, waitress and owners. This is the type of place I look for when I want a non fast-food lunch. Will not hesitate to stop again if I’m in the area.

Terrible service but good food. Management is friendly and welcoming, but the staff is remarkable. When one of us ordered liver, the waitress said, «Really? I can’t stand the smell of liver. If you really want it, I’ll have someone else bring it out to you.» Then she kept bringing it up as she occasionally stopped by our table. The have a big menu with lots of good choices. If you’re in the area, this is a good alternative. Just don’t order liver. .

Pap G’s has very good food that is nicely priced, Papa G’s is the place for causal dinning. My order has always arrived hot and fresh. The menu has much to choose from and the service was wonderful. Papa G’s is a great value. Marc of Elburn.

Real surprise here and it is not easy to know where to start with the praise. Let’s start with Dani who remembered that she served us 15 months prior and what we ordered! Are you kidding me? Can you say Cheers? Anyways, great service, friendly and prompt. Lunch entres were fab, with an excellent BLT sans avacado, and lemon meringue pie that tastes like your mom made it. If you can survive the IL police surveillance on the roads from O’Hare, or have a reason to drive through town, make the stop.

The sign out front says, «Just good food.» That is pretty accurate. The food is good, the service is decent, and the atmosphere is laid back. There really isn’t much special to make this place stand out, but if you live nearby, or are just passing through and want a quick bite to eat that is not fast food, this would be a good choice.

We went on a Friday night and it wasn’t busy yet. By the time we left, it was pretty full. The staff was really good about seating our group and helped us out with our orders. Throughout the night, the staff was really good about refills, getting more of our all-you-can-eat fried fish as well as extra sides. The quality of the food was pretty good and they had black bean relish as a side instead of just fries or something easy to make. The price point was quite fair and there were plenty of options on the menu as well as daily specials. It’s definitely a place you can return to and try something new.

Good diner for a small town. We really go because we adore the owners and the staff. Treat you like they’ve known you forever. Michelle is the best server, we love her. Very good Greek omlette and yummy spinach pie! Husband loves the Greek chicken or pork chops.

Oky Doky breakfast place. Been there about a dozen or so times in 4 years. My wife is not a big fan but I kind of like the old greasy spoons. Which is exactly what this is. Nothing fancy, just a diner with usual diner fare. I wonder about freshness or when food was prepared but if you go when the parking lot is packed(which is often) then these fears could be alleviated somewhat. I would neither reccomend nor discourage.

An ok place with ok food… better for breakfast. I’ve lived here for 15 years and I can count on both hands how many times I’ve eaten there… and most of those were because my daughter was working there…

Just because it is the only large restaurant in town doesn’t mean we have to like it. Rude staff. Below average food. Ugly décor. It is worth it to drive south to Blackberry Inn or east to Geneva/Batavia/St. Charles. I will NEVER go here again!

really great place! definitely would go back… i go to therapy just down the street and after, decided to treat myself to dinner. YUM! it was fast, prompt, friendly service. It was the kind of local establishment where, if you go enough… you become a «local» and everyone knows your name and starts up small talk with you. The kind of place to get some coffee and gossip about the days events. the kind where the staff greets you with a smile! it is nothing fancy, like people have said. it has that family restaurant feel to it. very cozy and inviting. At the front entrance, they have a display case of home made pie… and home made cini-rolls.mmm. have to try that next time. the soup was good, as was the bread and the iced tea came in a HUGEFSKINGLASS! I ordered the corn beef melt. It came to me with: Bread basket + crackers, soup, sandwich, french fries, pickle, and my iced tea… ALLFORUNDER10 dollars! for dinner! All that food… i could have taken left overs home… definitely check this place out if you want a nice«good eats» type local place with good fare and reasonable prices.

Whenever I stay out near family, we tend to go to breakfast here. Honestly, it’s nothing fancy but it’s well-priced, filling, and doesn’t give me an upset stomach like most family-style restaurants.

My Mom lives about 15 minutes from Papa G’s and she kept suggesting that we try it. So, on Mother’s Day we(7 of us) gave it a whirl. She was thrilled! Bottom line, they accommodated our large party on a «breakfasty holiday», my Mom and Grandma were happy and they have the BEST bread basket around. Now, I think they charge for their fabulous bread, but I am okay with that. I would go back for the homemade bread alone. It was delish!!! It’s a busy place for a reason… best family restaurant in the area. :-)

Papa G is like so many family restaurants where the menu has everything from steak to tuna melts. The food is good but nothing fancy. I ordered the breaded pork loin. Great taste and it was tender. But must everything be drenched in brown gravy? The staff is attentive even though we arrived close to closing time. The prices are standard for the area(7.95−9.95 for a dinner). It’s just a decent place to eat for a tasty meal.
