I have been to Schmidt’s three times, tried different things, and it has always been the best experience. The hamburgers are among the best I’ve tasted(why I’m Unilocaling today on National Hamburger Day) with bacon from Reams meat market(also the best at what they do, by the way) The fish fry is outstanding with several seafood selections. I have loved the bluegill, swai, and walleye. If you like the«Wisconsin lakeside» fish fry, but don’t want to drive north of the cheddar curtain, you need to come to Schmidt’s. There is likely a 20 minute wait on Friday nights, as the fish fry is extremely popular. Ice cold beer, a veranda and outdoor area, give you a perfect place to hang and wait until your«blinker» goes off. We have always had the most courteous and enjoyable wait staff at Schmidt’s.

After moving to the area earlier this year, we’ve been to Schmidt’s a handful of times. We love sitting on the patio to watch a Bears game or just to enjoy the nice weather. The servers have always been good to us, not sure why others found the service to be an issue. We’ve always ordered sandwiches or tacos on taco night. Food has always been good quality and tasty. The tenderloin and pulled pork sandwiches are my favorite. ;) Drinks are fine – we order bottled beers and they are nice and cold. We’ll definitely continue visiting for good food and service in our local watering hole.

Absolutely LOVE going here! The food is great — Jimmy is an AWESOME cook! — and the waitresses are always on cue and care about the customers! I love the patio in the summer too! I recommend Schmidt’s to everyone!

Draft beer was cold, the burgers were awesome and so was the Reuben. Great portions. We’ll be back for sure.

Love this place! I have never had a bad meal or bad service here. My man and I frequent this place often due to that fact it’s motorcycle friendly and has an amazing outdoor patio and space. They even have bags if you want to play. The outdoor bar/TVs are great for summer/early fall sports games and relaxing. The service has always been great as well. The girls are sweet, attentive, and friendly. Never had a service issue. Great job everyone! The menu has excellent choices, great variety, and something for everyone. Portions are average to large. I can’t complain about any of the different choices we have ever tried. It’s all been very good. We love swinging by Schmidt’s during our rides.

They have an impressive fish fry on Fridays and bloody marys on Sundays! I have a hard time deciding to go here or to Eddie’s because both have such awesome food and options for adding garnishes to the bloodys.

Had onion rings and a pork tenderloin(sandwich recommended by server) and it was really good. Service was VERY fast and our server couldn’t have been more attentive. My dining partner was satisfied with her grilled cod sandwich but felt the house pico with tortilla chips was lacking. My ONLY problem was the temperature of the beer. It was Miller Lite, not a craft beer with a specific temp requirement so we wanted them COLD and a frosted glass would have been nice. The were NOT cold so tasted like we were chewing on warm bread.

All the fish is delish! The beer battered onion rings are amazing! Some of the servers seem angry? But other than that, the food is great and live entertainment is available sometimes. Definitely go out on the patio when the weather is nice.

This place rocks. The atmosphere to the employees make this a place where I would frequent if it was closer to home. I was told about this ultimate Bloody Mary and I was not disappointed. It’s a drink and a meal all in one. If your by Elburn or even if your not and looking for a good place to hang out and have good food check this place out.

Lunch was fine, but nothing to write home about. With more time, we would’ve driven someplace with better options, but we were on a schedule, so we figured Schmidt’s would do. Service was decent, but I hate places that serve on paper plates. I’m ok with paper napkins(since I go through a lot of them), but seriously, please give me a real plate and a knife that’s not plastic. The wings were good, though the server looked at us like we were nuts when we asked for some of all of the sauces(a $ 0.50 charge for each, I think). My chef salad was decent, but nothing I couldn’t have made at home, and I don’t like when salads are artfully arranged on a plate with dressing on the side — I like to mix my dressing in evenly, and I end up flinging salad all over the place trying to do that. Final note, they need a larger ladies’ room. Two stalls is just not enough, guys. The dead animals all over the walls of the restaurant were a nice touch though, confirming that yes, you are in the middle of nowhere. Decent enough for where it is, but nothing special.

Stumbled in with a friend for a girls night dinner. Drinks were great. Pleasantly surprised by the martinis. We ordered a few varieties & each one was good. Dinner was decent, but nothing memorable. Service was efficient & price was right. Would frequent if I lived closer.

Very good food. Appetizers and sandwiches. Dinner salad fresh and generous. Prices to be expected. Service was attentive. Our party of 6 met here as it is mid point between our homes. Not disappointing

Fun atmosphere but weak beer selection & yucky food. Everything tastes like cardboard & freezer burn. The animal heads on the wall are another reason this place is just not for me. Very dark inside & smells like stale beer. Would fit better in a college town where kids didn’t know any better than to go here to eat & drink cheaply. Walk down the block to Eddie’s…your stomach will thank you.

3.5 stars for Sunday lunch. 2 beer battered cod sandwiches. Bun lightly buttered and toasted. Very nice. Big piece of fish with a dense, hard batter. If you like the light and fluffy batter, this is not for you.(Maybe our fish was twice fried?) Excellent 5 star cole slaw. Fries were ok. I opted for chips. Not home made. Deluxe side set up of lettuce, tomato and onion. Awesome tarter sauce. The girls at the table next to us ordered $ 10 Bloody Mary drinks that were a meal in a glass. Be sure to check out the photo I took. Wow!

Very good bar food and a surprisingly large menu. Nice beer garden with outdoor TVs, a full service bar and entrance to restrooms. Medium noise level, just enough sound to keep it lively without disturbing your conversation or the games. I like microbrews, which they have a limited selection of. That is the only reason they do not get 5 stars.

Let’s go 3.5 Stars here/Nice pub in Elburn with«Rustic Feel»… It’s a pretty big place with a large patio as well! Mixed clientele with lots of locals as well as people just passing thru. Big menu/above average Pub Grub/Bartenders and Servers are very attentive! Prices a bit above average as well. As an added bonus, it’s across the street from Ream’s Meat Market… get dat did!

No booster seats or high chairs for kids, also talked to friends who went with a party of 30 during football season and was turned away due to the size. seems to only want to cater to select locals.

Yummy fish fry! Every time we’ve been here for the fish fry, it’s been very tasty and we’ve always enjoyed a fresh cold beer. Fun atmosphere! Gets pretty crowded on Fridays, esp in summer. I will say though that service for us has usually been pretty slow but since we get beers at the bar first we usually are too liquored up to notice(half kidding). So I suggest going in expecting slow service but tasty food.
