Was there last night very nice people working there. But was very dissatisfied whit there food. Had tomahawk ribeye was over cooked and very hard to cut. The lobster was also bad. I went there over five years ago was very good. Have sent a lot of friends there. But will not refer them again. And also my wife said that the king crab legs where salty. And they cost $ 110.00 dollars shame on them.

Boo! This place was awful! We were treated with no class(maybe because we were wearing sweatshirts). The chicken was weird! The waiter couldn’t explain what the chicken dish was, his excuse. Because I was the first one that ordered the chicken that night(hard to believe, it was almost 9pm!). Lobster overcooked. The only reason this review has one star is because the cheesecake was good. No water offered. Empty bottle of A-1. The list goes on and on. We had to ask for everything!!! Go somewhere else. Too pricey for the crappy food

I had another losing session at Grand Victoria… no surprise there. It so happened I was given a $ 50 voucher to dine at any of the restaurants so decided to go there to soothe my losing ways. I went just before 9pm on a Thursday so there wasn’t much of a crowd. It took about 5 minutes before a server came over to seat me. I guess the servers double up as host and hostesses. The place is pretty dark and there’s plenty of mood music if you’re with a date, which of course I wasn’t. Oh well…*LOL*. My server Juan was attentive enough. I ordered a moscato which is my newest fave wine. It tasted pretty good. I ordered as an appetizer their Blue Crab Cakes. The Crab Cakes were placed over roasted red pepper relish. The relish bought much needed flavor to the cakes, which had plenty of crabmeat. So glad it wasn’t mostly bread like the stuff I usually find in stores. Speaking of bread, the loaf they offered was fairly warm. I was okay with the whipped spread but used it sparingly. I decided on the Porterhouse steak which was cooked medium well. I ordered it with a side of garlic mash potatoes and green beans. The steak came out good enough and I had leftovers afterwards. I decided on the bread pudding which wasn’t the best but was okay. I’ll probably return to try some of their other offerings. And hopefully win a jackpot to pay for the meal…*LOL*.

I had a gift certificate. I took my mom and dad with me. We all had 1 well vodka drink.(21.00) We all had the lobster bisque soup(24.00) Yum so good. Rich creamy lobster flavor. However the spoon they add is not worth anyones time it is a hard bread like spoon with no flavor and can break a tooth even after soaking in the soup. … Bread and MARGARINE served at the table I was raised on real butter and was really disappointed to have fake whipped oil served to use. The server never spoke except to take our order. Dad had lobster pasta and said soup better then pasta. Mom had Shrimp DIJORNE she enjoyed. I had the appetizer scallops. Wouldnt recommend. The sauce was cold the scallops however were fresh and cooked nice however lacking seasoning.(Salt) The flavor was not there. I do waht to add I ordered a side of asparagus. They were spot spot on.

My sister and I thought we would visit the steakhouse in the Grand Victoria Casino, Elgin. The casino gave us a $ 50 a piece upgrade, so we figured we’d dine royally. We both ordered the NY strip steak. My sister had to ask for real butter not margarine. Then she had to ask for au jus for the dry steaks and had to remind the waiter for mushrooms on the side. My sister got sick on something and could not continue eating. We had go to the hostess to get a take out bag. This fiasco wasn’t worth $ 94 plus a $ 20 tip. Not royalty but peons. Redo your staff and food. Treat your customers more regally, your Highness.

This is a fabulous restaurant. We were there again this past Saturday.(Oh, yeah, unfortunately I lost over the course of the night. Ha!) Their food and service is 5-Star. Tom had the Tomahawk Prime Rib — absolutely delicious, though perhaps a bit fatty. I had the Colorado Rack of Lamb… what I always have when we go there. It was out of this world. Both were cooked to perfection. The drinks were great — I had a couple of dirty martinis, Tom had a few beers. The service was excellent. 5-Star dining and in the suburbs. Great place!!! Oh, and I’ve often gambled without my best half and brought dinner home. Outstanding! They cook it a little under so it’s perfect after my 25-minute drive home.

One of my favorite steakhouses. It would be a tough choice between here or Morton’s steakhouse. I made reservations because on Friday’s & Saturdays this place is usually busy. However by the time we arrived at 9 it wasn’t crowded which was a plus because it gives the staff more time to focus on your table. We started off with drinks & some appetizers. For appetizers we had an order of fresh oysters & an order of oysters rockefeller. This place has the absolute best oysters that I have had. Most places have oysters that have a really fishy taste or smell but not here. The oysters are very fresh & you can taste the quality. For our main entrée we ordered a 12 oz. fillet & a porterhouse. The food arrived about ten to fifteen minutes after the appetizers which was great timing. My steak was a little bit over cooked on the side but after a few bites it was great. I had a few bites of the porterhouse as well & it was also great. Lastly I usually don’t get dessert after steak but the desserts here are awesome. We ordered the big chocolate cake with a side of vanilla. They call it the big chocolate cake because it is massive. Overall this place is worth the money. The food is delicious, everything is fresh & the service is good. I look forward to eating here again.

I had the Tomahawk Bone in Ribeye steak, a baked potato and broccoli with cheese sauce. The meal was cooked perfectly and I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good Ribeye. The casino is ok but the restaurant is a very nice find in Elgin!

I may have found my new favorite place out here. It may not be yours. Buckingham’s has a lot going for it, but I’d like to provide a tiny bit about me and why my review should matter a little. I travel extensively for business and a big part of my business is spending time in steakhouses with customers. From Carnevino to St. Elmo’s to Peter Luger’s, if you can drop a few too many coins on a killer piece of meat and it’s near a major metro, I’ve either been there or have it on my list. Before leaving grad school, I worked in restaurants specializing in this area. On both sides of the tablecloth, I am familiar if nothing else. So Buckingham’s does quite a few things right. The ingredients will meet or exceed your expectations. When you factor in the price, there is no way the quality of the ingredients doesn’t exceed expectations. The value to quality ratio leans heavily towards value. Our meal would have been minimum $ 100 more for 2 at a Morton’s or other chain steakhouse. Seared scallops and shrimp cocktail began the night. Scallops were cooked perfectly with a good sear but not overdone. This was a smoking value as well. I may come back and simply order two of these as a meal. The shrimp were probably 4 count shrimp, devoid of any fishy smell, nicely prepped and quite good. Even the cocktail sauce was decent and I’m normally not a big fan(aside from St. Elmo’s). The wine list was small, but had some outstanding wines at outstanding prices. The bottle we had there I had recently bought for only about $ 10 less at out local wine boutique. This value thing keeps popping back up. My steak was expertly prepared. It was a gorgeous cut of prime beef, aged very nicely and incredibly delicious. It came with sides. Really good sides. The potatoes were awesome. My wife loved her meal as well. So this looks like a home run. I mean, all this talk about great food and a killer value… Herein lies the killer. I mentioned having spent a lot of time in restaurants like this. I am used to the coddling level of service, expert bus staff that wait and pounce like tennis ball boys when my water glass drops even slightly below the full mark, someone to monitor and pour my wine and a knowledgable waiter that knows the menu, describes the food and sells me on why I’m spending this much money. Let’s delve into some specifics. I was paying our bar tab when my wife was sat. The waitress apparently walked up to the table, said«oh I see you have drinks» and walked away. No introduction, no welcome, no mention of her name. OK, the whole party wasn’t seated, passable. I sit. And wait. After 10 minutes or so, the waitress stops back by the table. «You ready to order?» No introduction, no welcome, no mention of her name, or the specials, or the standard steakhouse dissertation about how«the prime quality of their beef represents only 2% of all beef produced in the US and how their proprietary dry aging procedure helps to enhance the delicious natural beef essence» and so on and so forth. I felt like I was at the counter at a Denny’s. The room is small. They may call it intimate, but it’s definitely small. This in and of itself isn’t a killer. I mean, it’s Elgin. As a former Elginite, I understand all to well that Casino or not, the local economy could support this type of place if there were many more tables. The downside is the room is very loud. The music is inaudible due to the acoustics amplifying the conversation buzz to a dull roar. And that is what kills the place. Lack of finishing. Lack of attention to detail. I may pick on the Capital Grille, but this type of thing would simply not happen there. The food wouldn’t be as good and it would cost more, but to the proletarian palate, it would feel quite a bit more special. I know this isn’t the type of dinner most people go out to all the time. And as such, if you’re «special occasioning», don’t count on Buckingham’s to special it up for you. So yeah, probably my new favorite place in the area. I will very likely be back. I don’t know how many people I’ll bring with me as, for the sake of their perception of the evening, I’ll suffer through a(shudder) choice grade steak at Ruth’s Chris.

Service — 5 Stars Ambience & Décor — 5 Stars Steaks cooked to correct temperature — 3 stars Taste — still 5 stars, despite the 3 star above So I’ll settle on 4 stars for Buckinghams. Hubby ordered the rack of lamb, cooked medium, and his was perfectly cooked to medium. Delish! He was a bit sad they didn’t include any of the sauce it came with(in a small bowl on his plate) in a little container as he took half of his meal home. I ordered mushrooms with my steak and they put those in a small separate box for me. My friend and I both ordered Porterhouse steaks. I ordered mine medium rare — the smaller tenderloin side was cooked perfectly medium rare. The larger strip steak side was medium. Same thing for my friend’s who asked for his medium — the tenderloin portion was medium but the strip steak side was medium well. Hmm. I would hope a nice steakhouse could cook the steaks to the proper temperature so I’m not sure what the issue was. But, the QUALITY of the cut was still outstanding — tender and flavorful. The side of mushrooms I ordered for my steak deserves it’s own paragraph! Wow. It was an extra $ 5 which seems steep for mushrooms but these were worth it. They were large with a nice meaty texture, cooked perfectly and enough that I will have mushrooms to enjoy with both rounds of leftovers I will get from my steak. The three of us shared a slice of cheesecake since we were nearly stuffed. I thought«New York Style» cheesecake was supposed to be a creamier texture, but I’m not a cheesecake expert so I’m not sure. It was just your average cheesecake, nothing special about it or the crust. It said it came with a chocolate sauce, but it was more of a chocolate drizzle. Fine by me, but if you are a chocolate fan you might want to ask for more. The whole fresh blackberries & raspberries it came with were perfectly ripe & a nice touch. The service was outstanding. From making our reservations, to the hostess greeting, our server who was gracious & attentive(but not overly so) and the manager bidding us farewell — all a lovely experience.

$ 55 for ONE and a HALFPOUNDS of Fresh Alaskan King Crab Legs $ 38 for THIRTYTWOOUNCE Tomahawk Bone-in Prime Ribeye Steak That’s basically Dinner for Two where each couple gets 16oz Ribeye Steak and 12oz. of plump King Crab Legs for $ 46.5 a person! Very good quality food at very good value… as long as you don’t head to the casino! Interior is very similar to McCormick & Schmick’s…surprising gem in Elgin.

The meal starts off with complimentary bread and crackers with whipped butter. Bread was very good and had roasted garlic baked in. Excellent stuff. We ordered calamari and some cold oysters. Oysters were rather small, you get larger at seafood buffets. Calamari was good but wasn’t as crispy as I would have liked it. They have a special every once in a while for a 20 oz steak for $ 20. It was served with salad, potato and green beans. Salad was plain, just ice berg with a few tomatoes and carrots. The mashed potatoes were amazing… garlicky and buttery. Dessert is also included and it consisted of a square of chocolate cake which I did not try. I got the NY strip and this was the BEST steak I’ve ever had. To be honest I was not much of a steak person until I started eating like a caveman(paleo diet) so maybe I just never appreciated it before like I do now. That said there is absolutely no comparison to the many chuck steaks and porterhouses I’ve cooked myself at home. This steak is seasoned to perfection and perfectly broiled to medium rare as I requested. The fat on the edges had just carmelized enough for a crunch. Every bite was consistently rich and tender. Absolutely a piece of dining heaven. I spent the rest of the drive home smiling and commenting on how damn good that steak was and posted here as soon as I got home. The one issue we had was that the server messed up and forgot to bring out salads out at the start of the meal. This was okay because the steak was so amazing and we ended up having more room for it.

So it’s 615 on a weds and we go to check in and she says there full. I see 4 open tables? The hostess says they have reservations? Really? So we end up eating at the bar. the service behind the bar was a Little hectic It seemed like it was really busy but it wasn’t. We all had there steak special which is salad and either a rib eye or fillet. I chose the rib eye. It was OK nothing great. but for 20 what do you expect. Save your money and go to Prime instead

One of the nicest restaurants in Elgin happens to be located in the casino. To begin with, there is the lounge, which is mod-ish, where you can watch ESPN and have a drink, and there is the restaurant itself, which is glamorous in a Hollywood Regency meets Edwardian oak panels and banquettes sort of way. You’ll want to sit in the restaurant in the comfy booths. And it helps to have a reservation: the restaurant is cozy and being cozy, it is tiny, but comfortable. The steaks are fabulous and beats possibly anything I’ve had in any Randall Road restaurant; I was lucky to indulge during last summer’s prix fixe special and was pleasantly surprised by the size, tenderness, and flavor of the ribeye steak. Both of us like the appetizer menu, which has a good number of small plates, but were let down last time, the manila clams with the chorizo came very gritty, but generally the seafood options pleased.

Well if you can afford to eat here, then do it. We had some points from the casino which covered our bill for our family. It was my high school graduation ’02. We had a feast. The shrimp cocktail were the largest, freshest shrimp that I had ever seen. They were clean and crisp and oh so good. The memory is engraved in me. We had surf and turf and the lobster piece was also fantastically large with buttery goodness and the steak was mouth watering. It is a nice cozy, quiet restaurant. I am glad we didn’t have to pay because the bill was $ 600 for 5 people. These are the types of places where you get your money worth, however. Not like these modern, french or fusion places with the plate larger than a satellite dish and the portion the size of a pea. I look forward to reuniting with Buckinhams one day.
