La Flor’s food is the best Mexican in Elgin in my belief. You get great taste and generous portions. I always do carry out since the interior is in serious need of an update. The prices over the years have climbed up and for the most part I agree with them, but I feel as if their tacos are a bit overpriced. If you are looking for fast Mexican with great taste and cost no issue, this is the place to order from. Tortas, Burritos, and Tacos de carne asada are my go to from any Mexican place FYI.

Steak tacos are so tender and flavorful. Great takeout place. Beans have balances of smoothness and flavor.

It’s seriously the best Mexican food but it always makes me sick but it’s also so good. My heart is always torn between delicious now and sick later.

Overpriced tacos that’s all I have to say. You can tell on the menu they changed the prices. I got three tacos for almost $ 10. Get outta here.

I am giving this restaurant 1 star when actually they deserve ZERO. I am rating this visit for this experience only. I frequently visit this establishment at night and the steak tacos are delicious… rated #1 out of anywhere I have ever had Mexican dinners. Warning: DONOTEATHEREDURINGDAYHOURS. The cook does not know how to prepare food. Our tacos were tasteless. It was like I was eating at a completely different restaurant! The day cook needs to be fired or trained by the night cook. Now I understand why this place was getting negative reviews

I’ve tried every taco place in Elgin there is no competition this place hands down the best. I’ve become a regular here my wife likes this place more than I do. You couldn’t improve anything on the the food its perfect. The place could use an upgrade. Same tables it had when it was 3 other taco places in last 20 years. Still my favorite Mexican restaurant anywhere

Very basic Mexican food, there food is pretty bland, taco bell level. They are open late which is a plus.

I was heading out to dinner with my daughter today. We were headed to Los Comales in Elgin, but decided to give Tacos La Flor a try. This is a pretty small place. We were seated, and our waitress brought chips and salsa to the table. The chips were fresh and warm, and the salsa was pretty decent, with cilantro and onion. We placed our orders; my daughter opted for steak tacos, and I ordered one each, steak, pastor and chorizo. These are Mexico City style with mini corn tortillas. The pastor was tasty, and had a nice tender texture. They were happy to hold the pineapple as I requested. The flavor was very much of BBQ. It was very good, but different than the style of other nearby restaurants like Los Comales. The steak was excellent. It had really good flavor, and was very tender. My daughter also gave the steak a strong«thumbs up». The chorizo taco was also very good. Again, the style of the chorizo was different than I expected. Usually, chorizo is quite salty, strongly seasoned, with a tart kick from the vinegar. It’s also finely ground like ground beef. The chorizo at Tacos La Flor, is more of a solid sausage texture. It had a nice flavor, but was not as spicy or as salty as is typical. It was also leaner, and not as greasy as what I usually get. This was a nice change of pace. I like both styles, but I would have no problem ordering again. The waitress was attentive, but she spoke very little English. She had no problem understanding the order, and was able to customize my tacos. I attempted to ask here about the different style of chorizo, but I did not have much luck with that. In any event, she was quite pleasant, and the food was delivered to the table hot and as ordered. The price was reasonable. I’ll most likely be back!

The food here is excellent! I have tried many items on the menu, including the steak tacos, tortas, guacamole, and horchata. I loved all of it. Any time I have a craving for Mexican food this is the place to go

This happened last year, but it needs to be known. Went there late night, with a group of friends. They advertise(on the wall) a $ 2.50 quesadilla; that’s what I ordered. We ate(food was decent) but after I paid my bill, I see that I was charged $ 5 for the quesadilla. When I tried to talk to the girl, she said that she brought me a different quesadilla and that because I ate it, I was basically out of luck. She was beyond rude and literally turned her back to me, and ignored me when I asked to speak to a manager. That was the *2nd* time something like that had happened to me there… the first time, I had ordered the advertised 99 cent tacos. Once again, I was charged more for them because they added tomatoes… something you don’t think you are going to be charged for when THEY ask if you want them. They refused to adjust the bill and were rude. Lesson #1: always check the bill before paying it. Lesson #2: don’t go to Tacos La Flor. Tacos Comales(2 blocks away) is much better.

On 9⁄7 my husband and I ate here and got severe food poisoning. There have been incidents at others restaurants in the area very recently and it is probably linked to the contaminated lettuce that is being reported. When my husband tried to contact the manager working the next day, he was told the manager was very busy and was hung up on several times. A complaint has since been lodged with the Kane County Board of Health.

This is really disappointing to do but La Flor was our favorite taco place for years. My wife has even posted very complimentary things here. Unfortunately we both are currently very ill from steak tacos we ate yesterday. We have been extremely sick for over 16hrs now. I have tried calling to tell them twice now and Monica hung up on me the first time immediately when I explained our experience. I called back and she answered again. I asked to speak w the manager and she kept asking«the manager». When I said yea she kept telling me he is busy. She hung up again. Terrible service and we have a legitimate concern. Now we are going to the Health Dept. This is really disconcerting since we have loves this place for a very long time.

We stopped at this place on our way back home. I was craving a quick bite of cheap authentic Mexican food. Ive know Elgin to have a few Mexican places so I Unilocaled and came across this place. From the appearance of the place it seemed pretty authentic, they also had a variety of food from tacos, burritos to tongue and seafood. My husband ordered 2 chicken tacos and I ordered a huarache with asada meat. The tortillas were pretty cheap tasting, ad my huarache had a pound of lettuce with some kind of cheese but I was disappointed it wasn’t crumbling cheese. The salsa was a red one, not very spicy or with much flavor. I don’t think I’ll make a stop here but 2 stars for the price. $ 9.57 for those things.

If I would’ve written this review 5 years ago, hands down I would have given La Flor 5 full stars. I used to frequent this pace on at least a bi-weekly basis. Ordered food for pickup that was always ready hot and fresh, and more than enjoyed the late-night reunion with everyone I knew at 2AM. I’d have to say that since La Flor cut their hours from being open 24 hours, down to closing at 11 or 12, not only the appeal, but the quality of the food has gone down for me. Don’t get me wrong, I will still stop in for some tacos or a burrito special from time to time, but it’s just not the same.

With the plethora of Mexican restaurants in Elgin, it’s very sad that the Unilocal reviewers are calling this the best. I went with chicken and bbq beef tacos and i was majorly disappointed. They do not have flour tortilla options, only corn. The place is a dump, which can be overlooked if the food is amazing. I was thoroughly underwhelmed. Cheap, yes… quality, tasty food? no. ps for much better«cheap» Mexican may i recommend El Rodeo in Streamwood

Yes, they are right down the street from me so I have a bit of a bias, however… they never fail me. The tacos are great(although you have to ask them not to put letus and tomato). no fail mexican food at a great price.

Decent tacos and better than average burritos. Every time I have been here they made my order from scratch. Good to know it’s not just sitting in a steam table for hours.

This is my favorite Mexican place in Elgin. It’s not very fancy but the server is always very nice and attentive. It’s atmosphere is similar to a hot dog place except with mexican food, music and soap operas. :) They have a burrito special for $ 5.99 where you get a burrito with FRIES? I got a chorizo burrito special even though i wasn’t sure about the idea of fries with a burrito and OHMAN. These fries are out of this world. And more importantly, the chorizo burrito was probably the best burrito i’ve ever had. It wasn’t too dry or too greasy which is easy to do with chorizo. it was perfect, and the other toppings are evenly distributed through it as well. Every other thing i have ordered has been delicious as well. The Gordita, awesome. The cheese enchiladas suizas were really delicious, it tastes like they chop up pablano peppers and put them inside with the cheese, so flavorful. The chips that come on the table are pretty alright, however the hot sauce they give you to put on them is really great, it tastes slightly of barbecue and hot sauce together but in more of a watery Mexican style. They also have a combo platter for $ 5.99 where you get enchiladas and chili relleno with rice, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, bean and avocado. Also very good.
