Great atmosphere. Excellent staff and service. Amazing food. I had the Pulled Pork Panini. The bread was thick, light, golden brown in color, buttery, and crispy like french toast or a good quality french fry, with defined ridges. The pork has soft and juicy, and the caramelized onions were thick, bite-sized, hot, and delicious. My colleague had the Cheese Steak Sandwich, and was equally as pleased.

I wasn’t expecting much from this place but I knew it was a safe bet with the positive reviews. I was pleasantly surprised. The diner is modern, clean, and hip in appearance. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive. The food was much better than I was expecting. I have eaten at places with similar reviews and menus but was disappointed by the food and menu options(I am a vegetarian). This place had vegetarian options on a simple menu along with their tasty looking meat options which tested my will power. I highly recommend this place.

Wouldn’t change a single thing. Seated quickly, beverage orders taken within a couple of minutes, attentive and patient server, excellent menu and my tortilla omelet was so freaking good. But, the grits though… YES! The cream makes such a difference. Nothing to complain aboutZ can’t wait to return.

This little gem in Elizabeth New Jersey has a little hipster vide to it and the food is incredible as well. I enjoyed the bean burger which was amazing and held together with guacamole. The service staff is very attentive and friendly.

We stopped in at 10:40am on a Sunday and beat the brunch rush by seconds. The place was loud, the server wasn’t incredibly attentive but boy was the food good. It was like a hip IHOP with extremely great food. We’d come again but probably not on a Sunday morning. :) we strongly recommend the waffle sliders!

A great Unilocal find for certain! Stopped here for brunch in June 2016 and was delighted by the interior, menu and cocktails! I had the chicken and waffle sliders, with syrup and Brie cheese, as well as home fries and a pomegranate gin cocktail. You can order traditional diner fare, like omelettes, pancakes, or Jersey favorites like Taylor Ham on an egg and cheese sandwich. Portions are generous, had I not been traveling I would have taken leftovers home. Thanks for a great brunch find, Unilocal

We came here because of the amazing reviews, but unfortunately, this place fell flat for us. Service was a bit slow. I know it was fairly busy… but I’m talking about our server coming over to take our order, realizing she didn’t have anything to write our order down with and then disappearing for 5 minutes to get a pen? She was pretty nice though… I ordered the pesto chicken omelette was pretty disappointed. The chicken was extremely dry and the«pesto» was a very light line drizzled across the top… barely any given. the omelette was bland and I didn’t end up finishing even half of it. the home fries though… I could have eaten a full plate of just the home fries and been perfectly happy and satisfied. my boyfriend ordered the waffle sliders and was not impressed. He too, said everything was too dry. my niece ordered a veggie omelette that seemed like it was 90% broccoli, 5% egg and 2% cheese. She said the cheese was only in 1 corner of the omelette. I reached over to try some of her omelette and literally just got a fork-full of broccoli. not impressed. I don’t know how the rest of our party felt about their dishes, but for me, I wouldn’t come back based on the meal we had.

Amazing service, comfortable atmosphere, delicious food, versatile menu, excellent drinks ! I can’t stop raving about it, I don’t feel 5 stars are enough ! I want to bring all my friends here. I had the cake batter pancakes with oreos — home fries and a side of bacon. Everything was cooked to perfection, the potatoes were exquisitely seasoned & the brunch punch was just right to get the day going ! My table also ordered the nutella panini which had strawberries & bananas inside — also great. Love the plaid shirts lol

Urban Griddle opened up a few months back, and they were on the ball from day one. Decent prices(about the same as every other diner in the area) but with better food, and a more creative menu as well. The only downside were short hours and a long line which meant a 20 minute or so wait. The cheesesteak was surprisingly good, and the pork roll egg & cheese eggrolls were just F-ing perfect. The jerk chicken on waffles is a particular favorite of mine, as well. Sadly, there was a car accident outside the business, which caused a fire. They’re temporarily closed to remodel, and I’m counting the days until they come back. Meanwhile, you have people giving them 1 star ratings because of circumstances out of their control. Just ridiculous. Anyways, like I said, I’m looking forward to the day they reopen, and I’ll be ordering those pork roll egg & cheese eggrolls for sure.

Urban Griddle makes me wish I lived in New Jersey. They specialize in breakfast, lunch, and specifically the time in between the two! Such a cool place to brunch. The menu is so cool and I felt compelled to try a couple of items and stuff my face with deliciousness. I ordered the waffle sliders, buffalo chicken omelette, philly cheese steak, macaroni & cheese and french fries… The sliders were yummy. It had a piece of jerk flavored buttermilk chicken and cheese sandwiched between two mini waffles. the chicken had a nice spice to it because it was sprinkled with red pepper flakes. I asked for syrup to bring it together because I felt it was missing a sweet component. The buffalo chicken omelette was really tasty. Nothing like I have every had before– and definitely not your average omelette. It was full of flavor and the buffalo sauce added a nice kick. The omelette came with the choice of toast as well as hash browns which were also really yummy. The philly cheese steak was good but my friend suggested they give you an option on which cheese you get. They give you yellow american cheese on it and she suggested either white american or even provolone. I agree and I also believe it would be cool if they allowed it to be cooked with add-ons because I do love a cheese steak with sauteed onions and peppers :) The one thing I wouldn’t try again or recommend is the macaroni and cheese. I wasn’t a fan of it. I know they make it with three different cheeses but I can only recall gouda. it was cold, watery and I didn’t enjoy the taste at all. My waitress was very accommodating and she quickly replaced my distaste with an order of french fries and those were very good – Seasoned well! With all that being ordered my bill still came out to $ 30 and I couldn’t believe it because I spend more in NY on two meals in IHOP. Oh how I wish Urban Griddle becomes a chain and makes its way to Long Island. The menu full of comfort foods and amazing prices will keep everyone coming back. Not to mention the A1 service — I love it.

I came here on a Sunday afternoon for brunch. We were told that it would be about a 20 minute wait before we could be seated and it was actually less than that. I would say we were seated about 10 minutes after we got there which was great. The waitress was friendly. She came and introduced herself and asked what we would like to drink. I ordered a green tea and my date had(I forgot the name) but it had a spike of vodka and OJ, he said the drink was very good. We weren’t ready to order so we just asked for two minutes. Well, two minutes certainly turned into what seemed like 15 minutes. We had to physically call the waitress over and say, «excuse me we’re ready.» She put down what she was doing and came right to us. I ordered the breakfast nacho basket and my bf had the waffle sliders along with pancakes with oreos. I for one really enjoyed the breakfast basket but he insisted that his meal was only«alright.» I would come again and recommend this to others. Sidenote: get some curtains or something for the highway side of the restaurant way way too bright.

I was in the area and was looking for a brunch spot so I looked on Unilocal and urban griddle was the first restaurant in the search field. We walked in and got seated immediately. I suggest you get the Ms. Charlotte it’s a great sweet bubbly cocktail but it’s a creeper. We order the jerk chicken and waffle sliders which was good but I suggest to the manager he should have the option of buttermilk fried chicken. Mac and cheese and the French fries and burger was also delicious. There were so many things on the menu I wanted to try. I love that there were a lot of options from panini, to salads, to burgers etc. I absolutely recommend Urban Griddle

This place is in the wrong area! It’s on some highway but the food and restaurant is amazing. I went with my co workers for lunch, food was great. As a vegetarian I had plenty of options, from presentation to taste I loved it! The only think I wasn’t so fond about was service, I had to keep asking my waitress for refills. But besides all was great! I ordered a Greek salad, it was just perfect! Tried hummus pita wrap and burgers looked great also! My coworkers and I are definitely going back.

I used to like Olympia, but now I LOVE Urban Griddle. The vibe is awesome. I feel transported to Brooklyn instead of Elizabeth. Their breakfast is great(tortilla omelet and Nutella panini are everything). And they make a mean Bloody Mary with bacon in it! I just wish it was in a bigger glass like most places instead of the small ones :)

I have to give 3 stars for the managers Customer Service skills. I heard good things about this place and couldn’t wait to check it out. The atmosphere is very nice, cute and cozy. Food: My pancakes were microwaved, my bacon was cold and NOT crispy, my friends waffles were so cold the butter didn’t even melt. The«Winters Punch» was good! I gave 3 stars because they were attentive and the manager took care of everything right away. I’ll def give Urban Griddle another shot.

It’s been a couple months and Urban Griddle has become my consistent go-to for breakfast/brunch/lunch. I have introduced this place to many of my friends and they all love it! The food stays awesome, but the people here make the experience even more pleasing. You go to Urban Griddle enough and you get to know everyone. The owner makes his rounds and talks with all the customers to make sure everyone is having a great dining experience and we always are because the entire wait staff is exceptional. Since my first review, I have tried different menu items and everything has been so good. One of my new faves is the spinach feta omelette that I get with egg whites. That mama jamma is so delicious and big! Their fruit cups are delicious too! With fresh fruit with just a bit of cinnamon sprinkled on. Their lunch paninis are crisp and tasty. And while I’ve never had one myself(don’t care for red meat), my friends really like the burgers here too. Oh, and their mimosas have gotten stronger since first coming here! Just one of those bad boys on an empty stomach and, «heyyyyyyy.» So good! I really can’t say enough good things about this place. Such a gem.

Urban Griddle really brighten my day, like they say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I am the Brunch type of girl and yes Urban Griddle broke my daily routine records, I haven’t ate such large portion for breakfast in years. Everything on the menu was just so appealing! From pancakes to waffles and the your choice of customization. Their lunch menu is also served all day. Their portions was big and fulling. Everything that I order was appetizing and appealing to munch on! I ordered the Burrito bowl with grilled chicken added for $ 3 additional definitely better than Chipotles! Loved their hash browns with onions on the side. The pancakes was a bit sweet since we had Oreos added on it. I really like the atmosphere of Urban Griddle. It’s like a traditional yet modern American Diner. Not to mention the service was wonderful. We were respected and they consistently asked us if everything was okay. Overall I LOVE this place!

My reasons to love jersey!!! Finding awesome food places in most unexpected places. What a delightful surprise. The place is very trend, modern, clean and most importantly welcoming. Please do not, not come because of where this place is located at. I know this part of route 1 is not you would associate such place with. The drink menu is very creative, they even have Boylan soda on tap along with craft beer. I had Urban Bourbon and man that was good twist on breakfast drinks. Food is incredibly fresh and clean. I enjoyed my jerk chicken sliders with eggs and waffle. And when it comes to home fries, they mean business, perfectly seasoned. Service is wonderful, they waited on us right away and the staff is very welcoming. The owner George stopped by and said hello. His family has turn this old dinner in to what it is today. As always you have to try it to believe it. #happyeating

The atmosphere is great! I sat at the bar and it could feel a little cramped since it’s very popular. It’s nice to see such a great spot in my hometown! I ordered Roast Beef sandwich with fries. Best fried I’ve ever had. Hands down! I also had a mimosa. Tasted wonderful. I definitely recommend this brunch place.

Smart looking place, in fact it seems out of place on dingy Routes 1&9. Plenty of parking, widely spaced tables inside, really good soundtrack for background music inside. Very, very clean. A bit of a hipster vibe with water served in small Mason jars, and kudos to them for adding a generous lemon slice-some places that sell iced tea are reluctant to add that because the lemon slice costs more than the iced tea! The home fries I ordered(nice touch to ask if I wanted them with or without onions and peppers) were terrific, only needing a shake of salt to wake them up-and they cooked them ‘well done’ as I asked. The area where they fell short was the chorizo, egg, and cheese quesadilla-there wasn’t a lot of chorizo, egg, or cheese. For the same price that I could get, say, a generous Western omelet elsewhere(including home fries and toast) I thought the protein portion in the quesadilla was light. But I’ll give them another try-any place that has Boylan brand soda(made with cane sugar, not corn syrup) on tap deserves that!

Cute mason jar water, friendly service, modern hipster feel little café which you don’t expect from the neighborhood(honestly). Menu includes turkey options like turkey bacon, turkey sausage, and turkey hash which my Muslim bf enjoyed. I liked my challah French toast, eggs, and bacon also. And affordable! This is a perfect spot to get breakfast after a red-eye flight. The décor is warm and modern, and the food is excellent. For $ 7.25, I got some seriously good sweet potato pancakes and coffee that they kept refilling even after I paid. Service was responsive and cheerful in general. The waitress told me that the proprietor is «always inventing things» and exploring menu items, and that all the pancakes are made from scratch. I believe it. They had homemade corned beef hash, too, that I plan to try on a subsequent visit. Note that the entrance is in back, where the parking is.

We were pleasantly surprised! The interior of the restaurant was very nice and modern, like something you would see in the city or Hoboken! Seemed very trendy! The food was excellent! The Oreo waffles were soooo amazingly delicious! And the French fries were crisp and flavorful(we sampled off of each other’s plates) One of the best features of the restaurants is that they have adult brunch drinks like mimosas, oj and vodka! I have not been able to find a place like this in this area! I would go back most definitely! I tend to hate breakfast but would not second guess to pick this over anything else!

Elizabeth needs more restaurants like Urban Griddle. This takes the place of the infamous Olympia Diner – which I have never been a fan of. I’ve come here twice with friends and both times have been great and pleasant. First impressions. Restaurant is very clean, adorned with a minimalistic and industrial mind. Very good looking and very modern looking restaurant which I love. Very cool and very cute. Food. I’ve tried the corned beef hash, the omelettes, and the chicken and waffles sliders. The food was great, delicious, and unlike diners in NJ, I didn’t feel like I was weighed down with starchy grease after my meal. Their home fries are the best!!! Make sure you order them too! Staff were very friendly. Outside of the usual and professional check ups on drinks(my drink was never empty for longer than a minute) and the food, the servers were nice enough to make small talk and help me figure out what I wanted to order. I appreciate that. Food also got out to us in a timely manner, so good praise over there. This is a good restaurant that offers something that you won’t get from any of the diners in the area. It’s a more personal and refreshing addition to the already booming food scene in Elizabeth! Definitely coming back, and definitely ordering some cocktails the next time I visit!
