The service was so bad. It actually had me questioning what I did wrong from the second I walked into the restaurant. The waitress came over to take our orders and her exact words were«what do you want?» and«ok who’s next?» in the choppiest and most rushed way ever. She didn’t even bother to look up at us while taking our order. There was four of us total and she looked down at her little note pad, writing down whatever. She then mumbled something about appetizers really fast and we didn’t even understand her, so we kindly asked her to repeat herself and then she raised her voice, but spoke even FASTER. It was ridiculous. It ruined my appetite completely. I honestly can’t even remember if the food itself was good or not because I was just so stuck on the service.

We came here one night only because oz had a long wait and there’s no other Korean restaurant around the area. Service was ok. Owner was nice. Food was good I guess for the area. Wish Folsom Blvd was closer tho, it would shut this business down. Small portions but very high price. Like super high. Ordered an item off the menu(kimchi fried rice) because the owner said she will make it for us. Ask us for how many people so I told her enough for 3 people since we ordered a lot of other dishes too. It came out in a huge plate it was good… but not 40 $ good. Thanks but no thanks. She made up her own price and didn’t even let us know until we had to look at the bill since it was ridiculously high.

A nice alternative for Korean spot instead of traveling to Rancho Cordova. Although menu is limited, each dish that I have tasted is full of flavor. Dining here several times, I have tasted most of the dishes. Portion sizes: All the dishes here are served at a smaller portion than other Korean restaurants. The serving feeds at most 2 people. The seafood pancake was a great but the portion was smaller compared to other restaurants. Food: The seafood pancake was great and served with a dipping sauce. The crispy pancakes came out hot and straight from the stove! We ordered 2 combinations plates — bbq ribs and spicy chicken bulgogi. Again the serving size was small but the combination does come with a choice of a small tofu soup which was great! I really enjoyed the spicy seafood tofu soup. Also, we had the dol sol bibimbab which is the stones clap rice bowl. I love the veggies and the crisy rice. However, there was vwry little meat. Understanding the portion was small, there should have been more beef than 3 small thinly slices of beef. Service: Service was excellent and made up for the price and small portion sizes. Lost of 2 stars for portion size and the price. Tip: Ask for eggs for your tofu soup.

Honestly, I am only giving them 2 stars because they served delicious food & the waitress was very polite. Other than that… THEFOODISWAYTOOEXPENSIVEFORSUCHSMALLPORTIONS! My friend got the beef combo and it comes with a few pieces of meat, a tiny bowl of rice, & some soup… ALLFOR $ 20! Bruh! Srsly?! I can literally go buy some Wendy’s four for four & I’ll be full for $ 4 lmfao! They have very little items to choose from. This will most likely be my first & last time here! :/Sorry Tofu House, even though you’re way closer to my place, I’d rather drive a bit further down to eat at Korea House instead.

Hello! Usually I don’t like to write bad reviews(or even long reviews) because i understand that it negatively impact businesses and many times that’s their only source of income. This restaurant though deserves a VERY bad review after my experience last night where I literally had to get up and leave prior to my food coming out. Keep in mind, my mom lives in Elk Grove and I live in Socal where there are an abundant number of top grade korean restaurants, but I went here expecting mediocre food and service, but this place didn’t even come close to that! :-( As many previous posts noted, the service here leaves VERYMUCH to be desired, and that is because of the unwelcoming attitude of the boss lady there. The other waitress and bus boys are very nice, but this lady’s attitude is ridiculous. My mom and brother already warned me about this place but I thought I’d go see for myself since I had family coming in from out of state and they wanted to eat korean food. I didn’t refer to Unilocal first so I just came here since its relatively close to my mom’s house. As soon as I walked in, the place looked busy and short staffed right off the bat. People were looking around and not many even people had side dishes on the table yet, let alone the meat dishes. We stood at the door and no one acknowledged our party of 5, so I walked up to the counter where the lady pointed to the back side of the restaurant(which was not setup for service yet so we waited for tables to be pushed in and setup with chairs but we did not mind). After 10 minutes of waiting, I asked for menus. After 20 minutes of waiting, I had to hail the lady down 2 times just to get an order in. By this time it was 8:30, the place closes at 9 and our order wasn’t even taken yet. The other nice waitress came over to apologize for the delay and reassured us the lady will come by to take our order soon(not sure if she’s the only one allowed to take orders). When the boss lady arrived, she looked so impatient and upset so I apologetically put in my order for 2 proteins, a pancake, and tofu soup. She rudely said that wasn’t enough(for 5 girls) and I told her one already ate dinner and she’s just accompanying us so it’s just 4 people eating(It’s not like they didn’t have the space for her to sit there). The lady then rudely responded, «the meat here is about quality and not about quantity so not enough, you need to order more if you want eat here»… I *gasped* from embarrassment in front of my out of state guests, I reluctantly ordered another protein. I saw her eyes roll twice as she scribbled down our order and then walked away like she was doing us a favor. After she left, I thought to myself… WTF, why do I have to apologize to her, have her force me to order another protein for 17 dollars that I didn’t even want it, and then I saw the TINY meat dishes come out for the other tables and finally said HELLNO, I AMNOTOVERPAYINGFORTHISSHITTYPLACEAND I WILLNOTBEBOSSEDAROUND. Keep in mind, out of all the tables that were occupied, only ONE table had been served during the 40 minutes we were waiting there. The other guests looked so annoyed too, but continued to sit there. To make things worse, the nice waitress came over with 5 cups of half filled water and no ice and when I asked her where the ice was she said HERBOSSDIDNTLETHERPUTICEINTHEWATERFORUS. So that pushed me over the top and I kindly told the nice waitress that her boss isn’t very nice and I will be taking my business else where. She profusely apologized and I said it wasn’t her, it was her rude boss. She looked sort of embarrassed but she understood, probably because this isn’t the first time that this has happened. We took our business to a delicious and friendly Hidden Sichuan restaurant off of Bond. Although we got there past 9pm, they welcomed us, gave us menus, and served us iced water upon our arrival without being prompted! Moral of the story, stay away from this place, this lady is CRAZY if she thinks she’ll stay in business with a shitty attitude and overpriced food.

We used to love this place with the original owners. Service and food were great. Unfortunately under new management this place has gone down hill. Service was slow and like another reviewer said the owner was stingy. Overpriced dishes since they cut back on the portion. The lady wasn’t happy when we asked for more side dishes. Will definitely not be back anytime soon.

Tried the place for the first time and I’m a fan! Love the combo dishes! There was so much food, I had to pack the food. Everything I had was yummy! The waitress was wonderful and friendly. Loved the seafood pancake and the seafood tofu!

The service here is great. They are very attentive. The food is decent compare to other tofu houses. I had the spicy chicken and pork soon tofu soup. I felt like it was lacking a bit of texture with the spicy chicken and it could of used a little more flavoring or spice in the soup. Side dishes were good. I got six variety of sides. Those were delicious. Overall this place is decent.

Not a bad place. My first time wasnt too impressed when we first walked in. No greetings. Also, Maybe i was hungry, maybe they were short staff, but it took them a while to get our orders in. Once the order was placed, the food actually came out fast & we got to enjoy our food. Food was tasty and the service definitely improved once customers left. The waitress checked in with us on how we’re doing & was able to recommend the delicious cake for dessert. Wouldnt mind going here again(maybe next time when im not as hungry lol)

Everything here is so yummy !! I recommend doing the combination, I always get the seafood soon tofu with the beef Bulgogi or spicy chicken! They also have some secret menu items, unfortunately I didn’t catch the names but if you ask the waiters or waitresses, they’ll inform you about them. We got the fish cake option and so yummy :)

I don’t think I’ll be coming back here anytime soon… The food is delicious, but the portions are ridiculously small for the price I paid. They have limited side dishes and with limited amount of food ON each side dish. We had a table of 6, and we were refused a fourth refill of the broccoli side dish. I mean, I know broccoli is expensive now a days, but really? There were only 3 – 4 pieces on each refilled side dish. I literally had one piece of broccoli during the whole dinner. I’d rather dine at OZ Korean BBQ, it would’ve been about the same price for all-you-can-eat delicious food! At least I’ll know they won’t deny my side dish refill requests there…

I just read a review that changed how I’ve decided to write my review. :( Elk Grove Tofu House has been a favorite of mine since the original owners. I used to really enjoy coming in just for them. I know that the new owner isn’t connected to Unilocal because there’s still an option for someone to claim the business. This place USED to be great and I’ve loved it for years, but the last two visits I’ve had reconfirmed everything others have been saying. This place has gotten cheap and the new management sucks unfortunately. The woman is sweet, in my opinion at least, but horribly stingy on everything. I used to come in and the owner knew I loved kimchi so much he’d bring out two little plates with a smile. Now we get a couple meager strips and they call it a day. I also do not understand why the new owner is the only one on the floor. I could be wrong, but the other people who work are simply to bus. For the most part the owner seems to take on the responsibility of serving EVERYONE. That wouldn’t be bad if the place wasn’t full with 6 – 7 tables needing to be given water, side dishes, orders, requests. bills, extra napkins? How can one woman cater to the needs of so many different parties? She’s a sweetheart, I’ve never had bad issues with her, but I can certainly see that this place has gone down. It’s a shame. A lot of easy fixes to bring people back, but when you cut corners and get stingy, no matter how good the food quality there’s nothing that will keep me coming back. I’d say give the place a try at least and see what you think. The bibimbap plates are enjoyed, the soups are good at a mild level(STILL super spicy and I’m a heat seaker), the bulgogi is good, ribs are okay. The portions are considerably small though unfortunately and don’t seem to be getting any better. I’ll be looking for new places around the Sacramento area now for my go to korean restaurant.

Been here a few times so this is loooong overdue. The soup and food here is good, but not really worth how expensive it is. 16.99 for a plate of Bulgogi seems a little ridiculous to me. But Korean food is kind of expensive in Sac/Elk Grove area so I’m not really surprised honestly. Soup here is good but I wish they would put bigger chunks of meat to really add flavor to the soups. The side dishes are okay but they usually have 1 or 2 that really stands out every time I go. The older woman who usually greets/waitresses is generally pretty nice. Sometimes I do feel like she ignores her younger customers and puts them off compared to when she has a group of older aged customers at the same time. It takes a while to order but I never usually have a problem getting a dear in the restaurant. Overall the place is decent but definitely a little too expensive for my tastes for average quality food.

First, I’d like to start off that the staff was very polite and the lady that served me had great hospitality! She was very welcoming and let us try a few dishes to sample. The food took a little while to come out but I have to say the wait was worth it ! I’ve seen a bunch of videos about korean food and the very popular dishes like teobukki, which you have to try because it was as good as it looked in the videos I’ve seen ! The bimbibap was also very good as well, I have to say it’s my favorite so far! I really look forward into coming back here again(:

My coworkers decided to be adventurous and try some Korean food! This was the closet place and I also had a big craving for their tofu soup. The atmosphere is pretty dim and dark. No lights? Pretty humid if I could recall, service was mediocre. They offer what most Korean places offer which is their spicy tofu soup with your choice of meets, bbq meats, and also their sizzling rice bowls with plenty of veggies. Side dishes here were seriously lacking(only about 5 – 6?) My one coworker and I got the medium spicy tofu soup with combination beef and seafood. Good variety of seafood, but not a lot. Plenty of tofu though, which I appreciated. Our boss ordered the bibimbap in the sizzling bowl, hold the rice and he finished his whole bowl. Service was quite mediocre. Rarely were side dishes refilled without having to flag our server down, and water was refilled maybe once. At the end when we wanted to spilt our checks,(one cash, two credit cards), her response was a no in which she took the cash, picked a card and put the rest of the amount on the card. OK… Can’t say I’d return willingly, unless I really needed some tofu soup in my life.

I’ve only been here once and it was such a disappointment. We ordered 2 beef bi bim baps for take out and literally had 2 slices of beef in each plate! It was an expensive plate of(barely any) beef and vegetables at $ 9/plate. I entertained the thought of coming back and asking if they realized that the amount of beef in our order was quite depressing; but I just don’t have that kind of time or energy. Definitely crossing them off my list.

I DONOTLIKEDOINGTHERESTAURANTSWORKFORTHEM! The only reason that this review is two stars is that the food was delicious. Seriously, very good food. I would love to go there again. Unfortunately, the service leaves very much to be desired. I was actually impressed at first as we were seated immediately and the server actually came fast. The food took about 8 minutes from order to table, which is fair. Like I said earlier, it was very tasty. We ate quickly. The check arrived and we asked for a to go box. This is where the good service ended. I absolutely hate having my card sit on the edge of the table for any amount of time, and it seems that my table was simply forgotten about for 10+minutes. With only three other small parties in the restaurant, there is no reason to forget about the fourth. After I saw the waitress relaxing behind the counter and finally went up to get her. Yep, she forgot. There is a lesson for Tofu House in this review: IFYOUFORGETABOUTPARTIESAFTERYOUBRINGTHEMTHECHECK, THENEXPECTTHEMTOWALKOUTWITHOUTACTUALLYPAYING! That is what I should have done.

We came on a Friday night, and luckily only had to wait 10 minutes before being seated. Everyone who showed up after us had to wait about 20 – 30 minutes. There was a full house with only 2 servers. I really did feel bad for them as it was really busy but because of this, the service was just slightly too slow. 3 servers on a weekend night would be a lot more efficient and have a great improvement on service and speed. The food portion has decreased a lot over the years for the soup and meat combo. For Elk Grove, this is as good as it gets and is there most authentic place to grab some Korean food. However, if they were on the Folsom Blvd strip with all other Korean restaurant competitors, they may not measure up. The ban chan(side dishes) are very simple and limited. The kim chi was actually pretty good with just the right amount of saltiness and sourness. My boyfriend for the seafood pancake for $ 13.99 and he was not satisfied. The portion was very little for the price and didn’t taste good to him. Service, despite how short handed they were, was decent. Our server remembered our requests even if he showed up a little late with water refills(we got really thirsty before we were able to get water refilled).

It’s been awhile since I tried Tofu House but realized I never wrote a review. Home from work one day I wanted to try something new and close by. I headed up the street to Tofu House. With already knowing what I wanted I re-looked at the menu one more time and ordered the combo of Galbi and the tofu seafood stew(my go to dishes at KOREAN restaurants). I did notice after ordering, this place is pretty small and not too many people were in there. My food arrived shortly and I headed home. I did note my server wasn’t anything that stood out; no smile, no water offer, just took order and handed it to me. Upon my return home I quickly opened all my containers. Booooo!!! The portion size was terrible! They should be ashamed of themselves! The soup wasn’t filled up to the top and the Galbi had lettuce or something holding it in place… a filler! Soup was nothing to comment on but the Galbi was pretty tasty and full of flavor. I was also disappointed in the banchan. Kimchi amount was tiny, and not impressed with the other sides. I only ate the kimchi, kimchi pickles and nori sides. Lol I just re looked at my picture and you can barely see the kimchi next to pickles! Just plain sad! Overall too pricey, too small of portion size, not impressed and nope will not be returning.
