JM the Barber

This review is for JM or Javier! He took my husband in, Myles, last minute and we were running late (sorry again!) and this was our first time booking a hair appointment with him. He still took us in, was really relaxed and friendly and professional. I was really happy with the outcome. My husband said he’s talented for sure. His work speaks for itself! Definitely having my husband go back to JM!

In my 42 years of life, I’ve received haircuts from well over 30 different barbers in various cities/​states. Some were good, some great, but most of them had no business with a license or in a shop period! The reason for all the barbers is because very seldom did I receive the quality service I expect from a professional barber. For me, it’s not always about the haircut. There’s another very important component known as «rapport building», which 90% of barbers tend to lack the professionalism or mindfulness to do. If I were going through a drive-​thru to get a haircut, I’d be perfectly fine with getting in and out and not really developing a rapport. It’s like going to a fast food spot vs. a restaurant; the level of quality service expected is going to change. Well, a few months ago… I needed a haircut and beard lineup, but due to my complex schedule I couldn’t make it to my previous barber who did a phenomenal job taking care of me and my son. I had known for sometime that Javier «JM the Barber» was a barber and saw some of his work too. Although his images looked great, I was still a little bit apprehensive because I’m a perfectionist and also have a great deal of loyalty to a barber once I’m settled in and comfortable. All of this being said, I visited the shop and Javier gave me a warm welcome which really differentiated him from other barbers off the top. He promised to deliver the best of his best and took time to really understand my vision. As a Puerto Rican and Black man, I have really loose curly/​wavy hair when it’s long and I wanted to go super short. Huge decision and nerve racking as hell! Javier listened attentively, executed flawlessly, and sent me out the shop feeling AMAZING!!! This dude is so well rounded and earned every dollar of his ridiculously fair haircut rate. He has my trust, respect, and business! Thank you Javier.

Was looking for a new barber on Unilocal so I called up JM the barber. I went in right away and got a fade done that came out clean. Would recommend.

Called for a last minute cut and Javier was able to get me within the hour. Real cool and friendly. He gave me a real clean 3-​bald fade, and even when I changed my mind to go down to a 2 he was willing to fix it no questions asked. Definitely recommended

I’ve been going to the same barber since I was 5 years old. Called for an appointment last week only to hear he was in the hospital for about a week. Well damn… time to scour Unilocal for a savior…
Found Javier pretty quick and the reviews were obviously solid so I decided to check him out. Turned out great! Only went in for the beard trim my first time but I will definitely be back for a beard trim and haircut. Javier is a very laid back guy but the job he does feels very professional. I cannot see how anybody would be disappointed with his work. Diversity, the shop itself, is very laid back, clean and feels very comfortable.

Horrible! Boyfriend came to him and wanted a simple cut, lineup and to have his beard cleaned up. He cut his hair WAY TOO SHORT and the beard lines are uneven, and his beard is gone. Clearly he doesn’t line up many brown people … They don’t even say hi to you. Clearly the shop and its employees need to work on their customer service skills

Just wanted to say thank you for staying late to cut my son’s hair. I’m so happy my son’s barber flaked tonight because we may have never found you. His hair looks so awesome. We will be back for sure!

Javi is an EXCELLENT barber and a true professional. He has been cutting me and my son’s hair for years and has always gone the extra mile to make sure we were completely satisfied with his work. He allows us to make appointments even on Saturday’s just to avoid the rush. I can’t say enough about his work and work ethic. Highly recommend you check him out for your next cut. Javi’s skills are on point. I called the same day to get an appointment since my original barber ha to get surgery. Javi was able to get me in a couple of hours later. He hooked me up with a fresh cut and he took his time. My fade turned out amazing as he never rushed and you can tell he loves what he does. It was my first time but it felt like he had been cutting my hair for a long time because his personality was laid back and easy going. Will DEFINITELY be going back. Just found my new barber.

I’m from the city and was looking to find a barber in sac since my timing with my barber from the city was off. Found Javier through Unilocal and made a appointment. Told him how I wanted my cut and he got it on point. Very pleased and will contact him again for my next cut. Right on Javi

It was a wonderful experience as I got the haircut I was exactly looking for. Javier did a great job and he is really fast with what he does. I am definitely going back there again and continue to get cool hairstyles.

I found JM after noticing the flawless reviews, so I hit up JM and was able to have him fade me up that same evening. JM is not only professional but a true master at his craft. You can tell he is genuinely passionate about what he does. I appreciated the fact that JM would hand me the mirror to make sure the fade was how I wanted. JM even spit some barber knowledge which I really appreciated. The previous barber shop I went to pushed my side hairline too far back, so JM pointed it out and let me know that no barber should ever push back one’s natural hairline further then it is. It’s shady since some barbers will do this to get you back in their seat as soon as possible so you get lined up more frequently. JM was able to fix me up properly and you can believe I will be coming back as a regular customer. JM is definitely a really dope barber and highly recommended.

Moved to the Elk Grove area and hopped around from a few barbers. Javier is definitely the best to go to out here. He takes his time and makes sure you come out looking fresh. I highly recommend coming to him, never a disappointment.

JM cut my son’s hair for the first time tonight. JM is a master at work. He is committed to his craft and that shows in his work product. He did an amazing job with my son’s cut and we will definitely be returning in a few weeks! We’ve been long for a barber since we moved here from the Bay and JM has been the BEST by far!!! Best cut I have ever received!!! I went in this past Christmas Eve (2015) and could not believe how perfect my fade was. After searching and searching, I have finally found the best barber in Elk Grove and in Sacramento County. Javier is professional, a perfectionist and a great barber.

Called in and made an appointment with Javier but ended up being late for it the next day. He was understanding and got me right in no problem since he didnt double book or try and do to much. My hair was way to long and he took his time getting it to what i wanted. Nice guy made sure it was how i wanted before I left. Worth every penny. Ive gotten bad haircuts for more money alot in sac and with this guy I’d have paid double to get what I got. Thank you Javier I will definitely be back everytime even if I move out of Elk Grove.

Having recently moved back to the 916 area I was in search of a barber. I came across Javier from his solid Unilocal reviews. I contacted him and asked if he had any available slots, he told me that he usually doesn’t work that day but could come in and cut me up anyway. Being a new customer I felt welcomed by his friendliness and could tell right away that he was a specialist at his line of work. I was very pleased with the haircut and service I received, and I will definitely be hitting him back up for future business.

Needed a cut and a beard trim and saw the glowing reviews on Javier (JM). A little difficult to find initially but he answered the phone promptly and gave me the specifics on how to get there. Very personable and his attention to detail is amazing. Best cut I’ve had in a long time. Thanks, Javier!

I came to Javi to get cleaned up for my wedding and he did a great job. Definitely a talented barber who takes pride in his work and a cool guy to kick it with. If you need to look fresh, check him out.

JM was able to take a last minute appointment after another barbershop turned me down. So glad they did because I found JM instead. Not only is he talented but very personable, attentive and focused on getting the job done. He definitely enjoys what he does and it shows with the skills he has developed for many years and his work ethic. He did such a great job on my fade and line up. I dont think I ever looked this good. I think i found my regular barber, see you real soon!

Took my daughter for her first barber cut Mohawk today and it came out great. JM is very communicative, takes his time & works hard to perfect the cut. Great fading skills … Star by Nate
