By far the worst experience ever! I’m a fan of buffets but I am never going back here again. Me and my bf had food poisoning after eating here. This place should shut down, the trays are always empty even though there’s hardly people.

I think its overpriced and it isn’t very busy for having such a large dining area. Meh. And no TV!

Goodness, I’ve been here twice when I shouldn’t even have come here once. First time was when my friends and I were planning on having dinner at Yoshi Sushi in Elk Grove, but the wait was too long. We decided to go here instead. Bad decision. Their main attraction is their sushi bar, but even then, the sushi is your run-of-the-mill attempt at satisfying the American palette with over-sauced rolls made with deep-fried/not-so-fresh fish which is painfully demonstrated by their sashimi. The rest of the buffet-style food is just unbelievably bad. The string beans were cooked WAY too long, which leads me to believe they were sitting on top of those steamers/under those heat lamps for longer than I care to imagine. The meat was tough and chewy. The seafood was not fresh at all. I can’t speak for the desserts because I’m not much of a sweets person, but the fruit was at least okay. Not great; just okay. They also advertised lobster outside, but alas, no lobster was present. All in all, an abysmal attempt at basically a Chinese buffet(the owners are indeed Chinese, as are all of the staff) with a sushi buffet smack-dab in the middle. Unless they actually start making an attempt at quality control with their food, I don’t think I’ll ever be back.

If I want lukewarm tea, cookies still sitting in it’s plastic store packaging, hear the staff shout orders at each other across the restaurant, and sloppy sushi, I will come straight here.

Hi UnilocalERS! I’m finally back, I’ve been neglecting Unilocal for so long :(, but I finally have some free time to start reviewing again… any who, Came here for the second ime on 3÷10÷13 first time(which was about a year ago) I came it was cool, nothing crazy, the place was empty at around 1 or so, it should have been busy because that’s when everyone comes out from church. There was at least 4 other tables taken. The place had more seatings than it did food variety =/really sad. And you wonder why it is so empty… hmmmmm this place is supposed to be a seafood buffet right? Why don’t I sea any food? There’s only snow crab legs, broiled oysters, frozen craw fish and some cold shrimp. I never see any lobster or dungenous crab i just see the usual Asian buffet stuff. There was barely good sushi, it was eh kind of plain and real cold. I was going to order the«special rolls» but it said dinner only so I was guessing it was only for dinner time. Guess what? We ended up getting charged for Dinner any way because my boyfriends father ate the food items that said«FORDINNERONLY», what the hay why dont they just serve dinner food during dinner time instead of confusing us with it during lunch? I assumed that it said for dinner only because it had to sit there until 5 ahah. silly me, but I didnt touch it anyways and we still ALL got charged for DINNER. STUPID this place sucks. Anyways their sashimi sits out and looks old if you’d ask me… if you want good sushi don’t expect it here. I think Fuji’s is way better than this place, their seafood is more fresh and they don’t confuse you with lunch and dinner! I would have rather ate at firehouse crawfish and paid more for fresh seafood and Im not a fan of firehouse! I got the baked muscles which tasted old or rotten ugh, salmon which was over cooked and dry also had no flavor, black bean clams eh it was okay, chow mein was oily, seaweed salad was okay, seafood soup had IMITATION seafood, crawfish was frozen, the only thing I liked was the french fries. how sad haha BTWMYBOYFRIENDGOTFOODPOISONING!!!

From reading the older reviews on Unilocal I thought this place would have improved by now. Their sushi is definitely not fresh. As for their regular food its actually okay. I liked their Mongolian beef, but their crawfish was terrible. It had that«earthy» taste & I know its because they didn’t wash it clean. The best part of this buffet was their icecream. I wont be coming here again. It’s a waste of $ 14(their dinner price) if I’m just going to come here and eat only 2 items.

So today, my girlfriend and i went here for lunch because we wanted to try something new besides burgers, fries, and phở. We came here for lunch which is relatively cheap in my opinion. The bill was only $ 19.XX. Our server was okay and the food was okay. The sushi was sub-par but I was hungry so it tasted good to me. I left full and that’s all that matters. I would come again duong dinner possibly in the future. Maybe.

Why can’t I give this place NOSTARS? This place is dreadful. Here’s my review, in song. I woke up from my nap, hungry as fuck. Came to this place, finding out that the food suck. All i wanted was sushi, that’s all I’m asking for. In just about 5 minutes in, I found myself headed straight for the door. The sushi was gross, it was cold and yucky. I spit them out instantly, even the chinese food was sucky. I paid $ 13 for this pile of crap. One thing is for sure, my ass is never coming back. The boss lady tried making up all these excuses. «The fish is fresh. Oh you can order specials.» Lady, even with the specials, I’m sure it would have sucked either way. Sashimi tasted like it’s been left outside for way too long. I know my sushi, and this lady tried arguing with me. Chinese food was terrible. The fact that I had to go to the chinese food was all bad. The waitress was like looking at me NOT enjoying my food. I spit everything out. She watched my face as I took a bite out of this pile of crap. NEVERNEVERNEVERNEVERNEVER coming back. Fuji’s is so much better.

I walked in and was greeted by a very nice staff. The Crab Legs and coconut shrimp were great, the rest of the food was just ok. Sushi was fresh and tasty as well. The place is clean and nice looking but they need to work on their Chinese food.

PARTYOF3 My dad treated us out for dinner and it’s a weekday night. We decided to try KAMEBUFFETSEAFOOD. The hostess greeted us nicely and took us to our table. The waitress and hostess were extremely nice. I asked if they allow us to take out. I figured it would be nice to take something home. I didn’t though in the end. You walk in and you dont pay till the end of your meal. We got up and I went straight towards the sushi bar. I wasnt sure what I was taking. No labels or signs of what is in the sushi or even just a name for the sushi. NONE at all. I had to just rely on my eyes to decide what I actually wanted to eat. I have to say that the sushi was great. Even their Nigiri and the Wakame Salad was great. In the back of the restaurant is the chinese or stir fried dishes. They had an assortment of soup and some dim sum. It’s pretty good for a week night. The only thing I didnt like was that the«FRUIT» tasted like fish and wasnt cold enough. I could be just complaining over something small because they may have just put it out and not chilled long enough. I did enjoy the jello and some of their tasty desserts. They had like green tea and strawberry ice cream too. I tasted the green tea ice cream and it tasted good. I have to say it was okay. I left satisfied and FULL! But I have to say I didnt feel that there was anything memorable or spectacular. I dont know if I should say TRYIT… you will like it. Im not even sure how to share that. PERHAPS I can only say that it is just plain good. Just good. YUPGOOD. Not bad.

Not bad for a chinese/japanese seafood buffet. Sushi was extremely fresh, and the other foods were good too. I also enjoyed the coconut shrimp, the chicken skewers, and the dim sum dishes. Not very crowded for a Saturday lunch. Actually, pretty empty if I recall correctly. But we had the back private room with about 50 people, so I guess that made up for it? Service wasn’t too bad either. We had a dedicated server and she was pretty good at refilling drinks and taking away dirty plates.

This place is like taking a handful of flavorless noodles, wiping them across the sweaty grime off a homeless chinese guy’s armpits and having it stuffed down your throat with a pair of splintery chopsticks. Holy cr#p! I cannot begin to express how sh#tty this food is. In fact i only refer to it as «food» because it is carbon-based and digestible. Selection is low, sushi looks like bait, food was lukewarm and soggy. The chow mein was utterly flavorless. Eggrolls used cheap, crappy filler, as did the sushi rolls. The ribs were a mass of blubbery fat. The snails smelled like old fish, were rubbery and flavorless. All the fried foods taste like fried residue of various sea animals because they likely re-use the oil to save a few bucks. The chicken in the chicken and broccoli tasted like a spongey, old fish. I was here in 8-17-2012 and there was a gigantic unsanitary black hair along the rim of the chocolate chip ice cream. And the cajones these rip-off artists have… seventeen frikkin dollars for that amateurish slop??? I will never go back here again.

The sushi chef behind the glass was extremely friendly here, he made us some specialty dishes that you have to personally request for that isn’t put out for grabs. I rate their food as good as any other asian buffet would be, I haven’t been to too many spectacular asian buffets, they have cheap eats and that is why I go to asian buffets and this one is like the others. I wouldn’t drive all the way to elk grove for it from natomas unless i had a big party with me, but i would come back. their sashimi seemed fresh but once again average as I expected when walking in. also they have tons of desserts to finish off a meal.

Tired of the crowds and wanting to try a new Japanese seafood buffet I decided to try Kame for lunch. I usually go alone when I try out new seafood places because my girl friend is really picky about her food being cooked so I always like to check the places out first. Kame is a large, bright, open looking restaurant with new inviting looking furniture that smells a little too much like seafood. They have a large sushi bar with a lot of choices and a sushi chef to make you special orders. It is too bad he was about the most unhelpful, useless waste of life on the planet. Don’t just point and make grunting noises when I am clearly dazed and confused and requesting your help. I am paying for your services not for you to act like a worthless idiot. Personality is a good thing!!! There were also four tables piled with various kinds of fish, chicken, and pork dishes along with chow mein and fried rice. There was even pizza and corn on the cob for the children. My favorite was the cold mussels. I dipped them in the wasabi with soy sauce and totally loved the combination. I could have just eaten mussels. I also liked the baked salmon and the teriyaki chicken was pretty good as well. …and yes; they do have sriracha upon request. My waitress was helpful and friendly. I think that if the sushi chef would have been more helpful this place might have got another star. I will be back to give it another try. Next time please try to be at least a little helpful Mr. Sushi Chef.

To keep it short(?), Highs: –friendly staff –crab legs are one of the best that I’ve tried among the Asian buffets in town– NOTSALTY, hot, and fresh –overall clean Lows: –they need to widen their selection of sushi/sashimi(considering that it’s a JAPANESE/SEAFOOD buffet and not a Chinese buffet with Japanese items on the side) –a bit pricey for dinner considering soda is NOT included –many of the basic Chinese items lacked flavor(fried rice, chow mein, etc) –the presence of some of the more«exotic» items they have(such as frog legs, snails) MAY prevent them from widening their customer base –rolls need MAJOR improvement in terms of quality n flavor –the dried out pizza and soggy french fries NEEDTOGO… they are detrimental to the presentation of other food items They’ve been open for only two months so I know they’re new and still trying to improve their business, but some significant«tune-ups» are needed in order for them to stay competitive

This place is awesome. The waiter we had, was so greeting with a nice personality. All of the food were fresh and tasty, this place deserves a 4.5 but we went today and sadly there wasn’t oyster but the lobster were pretty good, just a bit salty. I would recommend coming to this place. They have a summer special price at the moment. $ 11 for lunch from mon-thurs 11am-2:30pm and friday-sat lunch from 11am-4pm. Dinner is $ 17 from 4−10pm. At the moment they have free soda special with the meal. How much better does this place get?

Wanted to try this out again to see if they changed anything since it just opened. Came back here for sashimi fix and it was worth it! They added more types of fishes for the sashimis! Fresh cut sashimi that didn’t taste or feel like it was frozen which I had happen at times at Fujis. We can just grab as much sashimi of the many different kinds like tuna, salmon, yellowtail, mackeral, and I forgot the other names, as you want! At Fujis, they would just serve you a plate of it at a time. Not here! Self serve which is why I love it so much. The sushi rolls which they place on the bar are not bad either. They now have hot tea here which is great. The hot bar items, are now hot but if not enough people eat them they become all dry, fyi. I just come back for their sashimi and sushi for dinner. Worth it with their 15% off coupon!

First time here with my friend and her family! It was pretty pleasant, and I wish I had not pigged out during lunch so I could have fit more food in my stomach when I arrived for dinner! The waitresses and waiters were extremely friendly and welcoming. The interior was slightly shady looking and not classy or fancy, BUT get this, they draw pictures on their plates with some type of gelatin and its soooo pretty! I didnt pay but i think dinner is around $ 18.99? There was absolutely no wait when we arrived and were seated immediately by a very friendly waitress. I went over to the sushi section and I asked the sushi chefs for lion king roll and he happily said wait 2 minutes and made me a fresh new whole roll of it. It tasted pretty good. They didnt have a HUGE variety of sushi out but I know you can just ask them to make it for you. I believe they also take requests and they will bring you your food to your table with decorated plates of cute little images on there. That night when I went there was a lobster special, BUT their lobsters were pretty meatless… There was the usual food chow mein, roast beef, shrimp, fried rice, pot stickers, fries, and such. I think their flavors were a little better than Kome in SF, but definitely had less variety. However, their service was 100% better than Kome. Parking was not hard seeing as to how they have a parking lot right in front of it.

every once in a great great while i’ll splurge(cheat) and welcome back an old friend: sushi, but i have a problem with sushi restaurants putting crab salad and an abundance of sauces in 90% of their rolls. why bother with such nonsensical additions that hide the true flavors? it’s a different set up as others have stated– you walk around a standing sushi bar rather than sit around a sushi boat. they have a menu clearly posted, if you’d like to order a special roll. the only one that grabbed me was the spicy tuna roll with fresh tuna on top. what a great roll but a shame it was the only one listed without crab salad. they also have a shrimp tempura roll with avo on top, and i happily filled up on that as well. i also noticed there wasn’t a Sriracha bottle in sight. maybe i’ve been spoiled, but i kind of assumed Sriracha and Asian buffets go hand in hand? their hot food tables had a variety as well– crawfish, jalapeño mussels, garlic clams, chow mein, fried and steamed rice, green beans, and a variety of other meat dishes. there was only 3 dim sum offered, 2 different veggies in the tempura, but an abundance of fresh fruit and desserts. right now they’re still doing their 15% off lunch and dinner prices for the«grand opening», so my lunch came out to $ 10.98. not bad at all for an ayce sushi buffet, yes a lot cheaper than the *other place*, but i actually found myself missing the huge variety of the *other place*. sure their crowds are a hot mess, but so worth it.

The space has been revamped since it was Panda Buffet, with fresh paint, interesting chandeliers and cozy booths. The room had an open airy feel. The establishment is still in the ‘soft opening’ stage, so we paid $ 11.99 per person(child age 9 less). All employees were polite and eager to serve us. We were impressed with the selection of sushi. It appears that you can make special orders for sushi as well. We didn’t, but the table next to us was served with a specially ordered generous and well-crafted roll. If your’e not a sushi eater, however, or don’t eat meat or fish, the selection is pretty scanty and rather lackluster. The ‘salad bar’ and fruit and dessert offerings were pretty typical of chinese/japanese buffets, no surprises. I think for the time being our family will continue to go to Umeko — every day low prices and a more expanded selection of non-sushi items.
