Great buffet! I have to say it’s been awhile since I’ve been to an all you can eat buffet that’s this amazing! Everything was on point! The oysters, clams, and mussels were amazing. I’ve never been more satisfied. Every other place I have been to, I have always been a little disappointed with the seafood, whether there was sand or mud or seaweed in it. But this place was great. Service is great, they make sure to get your plates out of your face asap, and chefs specials are to die for!!! This buffet has got to be the best buffet in sac by far!!! Happy I found it for me and my little family, we will be returning soon!

Food seemed to be of slightly higher quality since last visit. Tempura shrimp is noticeably better, with bigger shrimp and less batter. Frog legs also tasted great as did the sushi.

Much better compare to when they first open up. Ate there for lunch and it was awesome. They have crab, shrimp, clams and variety of seafood. No sashimi though just few salmon nigiri and rolls. I would definitely come back soon. Food quality is pretty good for a buffet. Fuji’s is still my favorite especially for their sashimi but price is much higher there now.

The Sushi House Buffet, was a disappointment from the service to the food. I came here for a late lunch with my fiancé on a Sunday afternoon. We were seated and asked what we would like to drink without any indication of what was available. After placing our drink order the waitress, whom I don’t know the name of, but had a red birthmark near the hairline on the right of her forehead, left and never returned… for our entire visit. After a few minutes I scanned the room to see if she was around and found her… she was in a booth eating; presumably on lunch. I watched her eat for about 10 minutes, still without the drinks we ordered. As it is a buffet I did go and explore what was offered in the buffet area and found an assortment of seafood such as shrimp and crab legs as well as tempura vegetables, soups, fried rice, and other well known dishes. I brought back an assortment to my table and after my second trip to the buffet area, which mind you, does not have any sushi, we flagged down a different waitress who took another drink order as well as our sushi order. In about 2 minutes we had our drinks and our fill of the buffet area. A little while later we were presented with one sushi roll(we ordered 2) and when I asked which one it was, the server was unable to tell us, she said she was new. We tried to decipher from the menu descriptions what we were looking at, but the roll in front of us matched nothing on the menu. Not being picky eaters we sampled the roll and at best decided it to be 2⁄5 stars. The buffet food was closer to 1⁄5 stars, the one star being for the variety, but being that everything was grossly overcooked or just plain not good, the one star is questionable. While the sushi house buffet originally sounded like a good idea, I was under the impression the buffet would actually include the sushi and that I would be able to get sushi and drinks without placing an order through a server whom may take a random lunch break and leave you without anything. My bad. Hopefully this review will help any of you with the same initial impression.

My husband and I have been great fans of this place averaging 4 times a month. Tonight, as usual, I ordered sushi before getting anything else. After 20 minutes and watching lots of people who came in behind us get their orders first, my husband asked where my sushi was. We were told it was coming right up. Ten minutes later, still no sushi. I was ready to leave. The server assured us the sushi was coming so my husband went up to the desk, told the kid what happened and to ask if we could take it home. What it came down to was he told my husband that we had to eat the food at the table. My husband told him this was one of the worst service ordeals we had had, and would he make an exception. He basically said no.(Btw, he claims he was the owner). My husband then told him we wouldn’t be back. He said he didn’t care if we did or did not come back. It was his staff of chefs who messed up, lost the order, or whatever they did with it, not us. For him to lose two consistent customers over his staff’s mistake showed that he has no clue on how to treat his customers or what good customer service is. We won’t be back. And I will rescind my suggestion to family and friends that this is not a place to eat at.

Obviously been here a few times … The space is great! I really dont have to worry about bumping into people at Sushi House Buffet. They seat you right away and I don’t think i’ve seen this place filled at max capacity but that will be the day … I love Fuji’s just as much as anyone else does, especially since I was a UCD student but come on? Why would you compare a SUSHIBUFFET to a Sushi Buffet with other items? That’s just plain not on the same level. What I like about Sushi House Buffet is the variety — I can get seaweed salad, they have more than a few type of soups available, and a mix of chinese and japanese food. Then they have their sushi belt — its fun and they’re fresh — they have a rotating schedule to throw anything out that’s not fresh anymore. I like that. The rolls are very good, i mean some things are repeat ingredients arranged in different ways but don’t set the bar high. On weekends, it’s full dinner menu, meaning all parts of the day is sashimi and crab legs. There are frog legs and even a whole array of corn dogs, french fries, and chicken nuggets for kids. I want to say everything is B average in terms of quality but please note this is Elk Grove. You get what you pay for :) Everything to me at this place is decent to the palate.

This a good place to eat if you love seafood. One thing that they do, unlike similar Asian buffets, is refresh their seafood fare! I love, love the crab legs, oysters, clams, and shrimp. Their sushi is good(I’ve had better). For the price I think it’s worth it.

I came here today with a gf and I thought it was okay. I thought the chinese food was waaaaay better than the sushi. I would’ve given this place 3 stars for the service and Chinese food… But then I got food poisoning. I was heading out to the warriors game When it all hit me. Gross. Never coming back… Ever. Again. Pretty sure it was the salmon nigiri I had. Gross.

It’s not as comparable to Fuji or Raku in food quality, they’re my favorite places, but it’s still decent. I mean after all you’re only paying $ 9 plus tax and tip. Also it’s way better than No 1 Buffet, that’s for sure. The food is okay. You get a variety of Chinese food. I actually like their sushi. However, I don’t like the long wait time to get it. It took them 30s minutes to make 3 rolls for me. I asked the witness and she assured me that it’s almost done. I would get the sushi on the conveyor belt if I know what sushi is what(tip: maybe have a sign or something to let your customers know what plate is because many of it look similar). I would definitely come back and recommend it if you’re on a budget.

*Definitely* not as good as Fuji. Awkward seating for large parties(seated in a long row against other tables or walls), frozen sashimi, unoriginal sushi(literally crab meat and soft shell crab inside every single roll), cold and tasteless snow crab legs, and slow/inattentive service(probably because they were defrosting our sashimi). Tl;dr there’s a reason this is cheaper than Fuji. Would rather pay more money for better food at Fuji.

After placing my order for sashimi 45 minutes ago, I ask for them to check on it, the waitress then tells me that our table is past it’s «sushi limit», that I will not be getting sashimi for the rest of the visit. Her reason was«we are having a big party coming in, we need to make sure they have sushi.» What kind of bull reason is that? The service is horrible, almost nobody speaks english, and the ones that do are rude, I’m a VERY patient person, but to make me wait for food that is NOTEVERCOMING, is stupid business practice. Save your money and manners and just go to Fuji sushi buffet. This place is ridiculous and the waitresses are gonna drive this place into bankruptcy. Specifically the older waitress with a short boy haircut

My mom and I decided to return here after a while and I was happy we did. The servers are still happy and smiley as before. They stepped up their sushi roll game. The appearance and taste of their sushi rolls is pretty much on par with the local«50% off» shops, except here, it’s a buffet with many other food choices. Some of their other buffet foods are still not so great but I come for their sushi, oysters, crab legs, fried oysters, and soft shell crab(TIP: fried oysters and soft shell crab must be ordered with server). These foods listed above are enough to completely satisfy me for my visit. Service is excellent. Refills come on time, always. Used dishes gets removed from our table in a timely manner. The restaurant is quite clean and organized well. Definitely not bad at all. I believe other Unilocalers should give this place a try again.

Great sushi! Tons of Chinese food options as well. You can order the sushi to be made or select off the sushi bar. Staff is attentive. Never had to wait for a table. And how can you beat $ 8.95 for lunch and $ 13.95 for dinner. That’s the price of 1 roll itself at any other sushi restaurant. Quality is great too! My only fear of writing this review is it will become so popular that there will end up being a wait and that prices will increase… however they very well deserve the business.

This location has a history of going through many change in management. I can’t remember the very first name of this place, but I do recall it as Panda Buffet, then Kame, and now it is called Sushi House Buffet. I must say, I enjoyed it when it was Kame. Perhaps because the service I received was much better than Sushi House. Here at Sushi House, the serving staffs seem a bit fobby. I’m not trying to offend anyone but I just don’t know any other easier way to explain it. They are quick to grab your drink orders but if you are ordering your rolls through the server, you can expect to wait awhile for it. When ordering a sushi roll off the menu, you’re asked for half or full roll. They advise to order the amount you are able to finish. Our table ordered two full rolls, a phoenix and a dragon. The two rolls are near identical. Only difference being the Phoenix having fried soft-shell crab inside while the Dragon has crab meat. After finishing two plates of food, our rolls never came so we inquired about it. Eventually the server came back with just the Phoenix roll. Not sure what happened to the dragon roll… Some pros about this place: I do like the metal conveyor belt that rotates small plates in both clockwise and counter clockwise directions. The small plates offer some variety of nigiris. Wasabi and ginger are self served. Huge plus for me since I LOVE ginger. At sushi restaurants, I feel like I’m constantly nagging the server to refill my plate with ginger. Large selection of Asian oriented food here. Some dim sum items as well. The price here is amazing, only $ 8.95 for lunch. Some things I didn’t like so much: Desserts. boooo. No ice cream! Wahhh! Lol. There were some cake rolls and a lot of fruits but nothing cold and creamy. Servers here didn’t talk much. If they made the effort to ask us once in awhile if we need anything, that would have earn them a bigger tip. I’ll be giving this place one more try during dinner time to see what they have to offer. I hope dinner time will be better than lunch.

I will have to say after trying the place –twice that the food is not good. The Shrimp(sashimi) taste as If it was sprinkled with vinegar. The salmon was not fresh. Waste of $$ even with a 10% discount.

I was so excited to try this restaurant despite the reviews I already read on Unilocal.I was really hungry! There were about 5 short aisles of food on warmers. The dishes were mainly Asian-style(fried rice, wontons, hot and sour soup, beef and broccoli, sweet and sour pork). The more lavish options consisted of crab legs, soft shell crab, sashimi, cooked and raw oysters, and sushi. Some items were readily available and others were made to order. It was disappointing, however, to read on their menu that any leftover sushi would incur an extra charge. I understand, no one wants to see food go to waste. It’s just unappealing to read such a statement. The crab legs were salty and I don’t believe they were fresh. Most sushi rolls that can be ordered includes deep fried shrimp which appears to be «the filler». I’m not a big fan of breaded or deep fried anything and I learned the hard way. I had to eat those rolls! With their sushi, full or half rolls are available. A good option if you want to try a variety. Sushi boats circle the bar, if you decide to eat there instead of a table or booth. What I did enjoy was their raw oyster. Admittedly, I took a risk considering the reheated crab legs. The oyster was plump, fresh, and didn’t leave an after taste. I had one and could’ve had another 2 or 3; but didn’t want to risk it all! I also liked the soft shell crab less the salt that was sprinkled on it. So, for the best part of the meal you ask? I would have to say it’s their clear lychee jello! I’ve given them 2 stars because the food was subpar. There’s nothing notable that would bring me back. If you’re hungry, looking for Chinese food, craving sushi, or all of the above, this is not a bad option. Just remember to eat all of your rolls!

I always drive pass this place, but seen that this has gone through so many management changes that I never wanted to give it a shot. However, I saw one of my Unilocal friends reviews and decided to give it a try since it was 20% off. I’m going to give this place two stars. One for the friendly staff who helped me because I was new, and the second for a variety of food. However the food did not wow me like it should for 15.95. There was a good selection of Chinese food and sushi. Chinese food included the typical: fried rice, beef chow fun, salt pepper shrimp, black bean clams, egg flower soup, hot and sour soup, fish, and a lot more. They had seafood as well. Snow crab legs, not Alaskan. It was dry and rubbery. Cooked oysters were decent. They had fruit and small squared cakes. Sushi was made to order. Staff only knows the rolls by number. So make sure you tell them what number you are ordering and whether you would like a half or full order. Or you can simply walk up to the conveyor belt and choose your own. The sushi rolls aren’t bad, but all of them are mostly smothered with the spicy mayo sauce(pink). You can also order sashimi, raw oysters, shrimp tempera, soft shell crab, and fried oysters with your server. Overall hospitality was nice, but the food was not outstanding. The place is very empty, so the turn over rate for the food is not fast enough. Food will sit there for a very long time.

I wanted to give this place a try despite the three star rating. Upon walking in, I was fortunate enough to bump into some relatives who were walking out of the buffet. They mentioned to us its a pretty good buffet but definitely doesn’t beat fujis. We thought it’d still be worth a try considering it was packed, looked clean, and was nicely decorated . We were seated pretty quick and noticed the conveyor belt serving sushi. The sushi bar was pretty awkwardly placed. I felt super rude having to reach over people eating at the bar in order for me to grab some rolls. You could never go wrong with the hot food, right? It was pretty good despite how long it must’ve been sitting out. Our waiter only served us drinks and never came back which I thought was annoying because with it being our first time, we would’ve appreciated it if he told us how things worked so we didn’t get a chance to try any made to order rolls that day. On 3÷30÷15 we decided to give it another try. This time with family, and considering it was a Monday evening, it wasn’t as busy as it was on Saturday. Our server was quick, attentive, and refilled our waters right away. What I liked most about my second visit was, knowing how to order and what they offer outside of sushi like fried oysters and soft shell crab. If they offered fried calamari like fujis, I probably would’ve been a lot happier. We were able to try their specialty rolls, soft shell crab, and mixed sashimi this time. For specialty rolls I got the honeymoon and spicy tuna. The spicy tuna roll was cut in huge pieces making it more rice than anything. On top of that, the rice was extremely mushy. The honeymoon roll was good but all it tasted like was rice and lots of sweet sauce . Soft shell crab– extremely oily making it impossible to taste. The oil made the batter super soggy. It seemed as if they used More batter than crab. Mixed sashimi– I wanted to enjoy it because it was plated so nicely but the texture was hard, it smelled pretty bad, and it had a weird after taste. The manager was the nicest ! She was super friendly and kept thanking us for coming. «it’s all because of you guys, that’s why we’ve been busy because people like you guys come !»

Just like the 3 other sushi buffets before, the food here was just average… do they only let sushi buffets take over this spot?! Looking from a business perspective, Fuji Buffet rules the AYCE sushi category in Elk Grove. If you can’t be better than them, then good luck. Good points: Lots of seating. It was actually surprisingly crowded for it being grand opening night. Their hot food was constantly stocked. They had wonton soup which I usually don’t see at buffets(along with their usual hot and sour, miso, and egg drop soups). Service was good — friendly and quick. The sushi, which is in the name of the place, was scarce. They’re only on a rotating track at the sushi bar. What if the bar was full? Do I have to reach over everybody to get sushi? I only enjoyed the tamago sushi — everything else was mushy and had no flavor to me. I am in no hurry to come back unfortunately, much like the other sushi buffets that resided here in the past :( P. S. They don’t even have soft serve ice cream :(
