This bookstore is charming beyond words. Used books are one of the greatest things in life, and what an amazing selection they had here. The children’s book section was very well stocked and when we passed through children’s books were on sale for $ 0.25 each. Our junior bookworm left with more than a dozen nearly new books. I was even surprised to see used Harry Potter, Twilight saga, and Hunger Games books on the shelves. The staff was great as well, being warm, welcoming, and very helpful. During my visit a woman came in with a very unusual request for a used book store: how to decorate a buffet table. Still, the staff showed her straight to several sections and pulled books that were most likely to inspire. I was quite impressed. Customer service at its finest!

I can’t believe we found this hidden gem in Elko. We’ve driven by it many times, but have never actually stopped and gone in. However, on a cold winter weekend, we decided to stop in and see what Bookstore was like(and yes, that is it’s name). I have to say that this place is amazing! They have a new book side that looks like they order what sells(little Nora Roberts or Danielle Steel which are my favorite!), but has a decent selection for a smaller bookstore. They also do a club where you purchase 12 new books in a year and you can get one free. However, the real beauty of this store is their used book side! This side is enormous and has almost any author you could think of(and the women at the front are always more than willing to point you in the right direction). If you love books, you will love this place! Most of their used books are around $ 0.20, but some even cheaper. If you love Harlequin romance books, this is your place as well. I think you would be able to finish your collection. But, don’t get hung up on just the romance books(that’s obviously a lot of what I read), there are a ton of books for any book lover. If you happen to be going through Elko for any reason(or visiting/moving to the Elko area), you definitely need to make sure you stop by here!

This is a great little independent bookstore. The store itself is divided up with new books on your left as you enter and used books to your right. New books are sold at list price while used books are an absolute bargain. The new book section is a bit small, but it seems to have a little bit of everything. The used section is where this store really shines. If you’re a romance reader, prepare to be overwhelmed. They have floor-to-ceiling shelves dedicated to individual series. Romance isn’t really my calling, so I was happy to browse the well-stocked fiction section. Some of the organization is a little bit strange(e.g. I found a Vonnegut book in the«Writings» section), but most of it is done by category and alphabetized by author. They offer a couple of different incentive programs for frequent shoppers. If you’re a new book buyer, you can get a free one after purchasing twelve within a year. If used books are your poison, you can trade in your old paperbacks for credit and walk out with a whole stack by paying a 25 cent handling fee per book. The woman checking out in front of us walked out with a bag of 9 paperbacks and she paid a total of 96 cents. If you’re in the Elko area or just passing through on I-80 and need something to read, you should stop in and check this place out. Even if you don’t need something to read, you should stop by and stock up your bookshelf. If you don’t mind reading a used book, it doesn’t get much more affordable than this.

Oh. My. Gawd. This bookstore ROCKS. A cultural oasis in the middle of a literal and metaphorical desert. Let me back up: I was nearing the climax of a book I’d been reading, and looking forward to finishing it on a big trip we were taking. I then left the book at home in San Francisco when I packed up the car. Totally bummed, I tried to find a bookstore our first night on the road in Winnemucca — and got pointed to the WalMart. The next morning in Elko we just happened to see«Bookstore» on the main drag. I passed by it the first time, figuring it couldn’t be «all that» but on the second pass opted to go inside. I left the family in the car and promised I’d be out in 4 minutes or less. I am so glad I did. The owner of the store found my book in her *massive* used section of books in under 2 minutes. I also found 2 more books used I’d been looking forward to reading. Picked up all 3 books used for $ 13. I got to finish my book on my trip, and then made a point of stopping on the return home so my family could see just how awesome Bookstore is. Oh, and I traded in my used book for the next book in the series. Thank goodness that Amazon and Borders didn’t put this little gem out of business. Next time you’re on Interstate 80 through the Nevada desert, stop here to see what bookstores used to be like. And BUYSOMETHING to support it!
