I don’t know what those are people are complaining about. We «found» Stray Dog on New Year’s Eve while driving cross country. The bartender was very knowledgeable about the beers and recommended two for us that we both loved. Founder’s Scotch Ale — excellent. Sliders — That night they were pig belly and completely delicious. I also ordered the Asiago Artichoke Dip. It was tasty but I didn’t love the toasted croutons/Crostini served with it. I’d have preferred nice slices of baguette, but that’s just me. Oh, and that bartender that night must also be a chef or the manager. Simply Great Service.

I had the Kobe slider which were really great. The woman behind the bar, she said it was her first night, was super friendly and gave us great service

Great pizza, but the space is way too small to be comfortable with the crowd sometimes.

The beer was cold… That’s all I have to say in the good. The bartender had the personality of a rock. Never said two words to our party. Was in a foul mood and treated everyone as if it was their fault.(Breanna needs help)

This is a pub style bar with a full menu consisting of American favorites like hot wings, cheesy bread and shrimp cocktail as well as build your own pizza. They have a bunch of beers on tap including shocktop. I had the cheese bread which was on a thick pizza dough baked until the cheese was bubbling and served with a side of marinara. It was good. It’s right around the corner from the Western Folklife Center and Theater G. You can pop in for a bite before the show at #elkocowboypoetry. There’s street parking, and a large lot around the corner.

KCCO beer! Enough said right? I only bring it up because they were the first in town I found. This is a nice little bar, can’t stress little bar enough. This places packs full almost every Friday, to the point of standing room only. I’ve only had a small portion of snacks here but no complaints to the food. The service has no complaints either never had a hard time getting anything. Bathroom situation, as I told you little bar, so little bar little bathrooms. One holers. An they are in the back so on Fridays I suggest coming in the side door and making your way from there it’s a long trek down the middle of the bar from front to back when it’s busy.

Came in after shopping several bars. First thing here is great service. Then add some good food that we got late, only because our bartender offered to make it for us. Then think about a great beer and whiskey selection and you know this is the place to come in Elko. Be smart, drink here!

Stopped in for beer and some pizza. I loved the bartender, she made some great suggestions all around. I went for a fruit beer halfy: Angry Orchard and Shocktop. We had the Mediterranean pizza and some delicious margarita chicken wings. I would go there again for the delightful bartender and the margarita chicken wings in a heartbeat.

My husband and I love this place. It’s small but has a great atmosphere. The pizza is definitely the best in town and the beer selection is outstanding! The girls that work here are friendly and fun and always make us feel like family. :)

We had two pizzas that were both very good. Service was«ok» and wine selection minimal.

If it’s late and you want a beer and don’t mind being surrounded my hordes of guys that just got done working 12 hours at a mine, then you’ll be happy. Inside is small and crowded if you get more than 9 customers. Beer selection is an upside with plenty on tap.

Had the«Famous George» pizza. It was great. Good beer selection. Nice pub atmosphere. Not too crowded, but we were there pretty early. Good service.

There is nothing wrong with this place. However, is it the greatest place in earth? No. If I lived locally to Elko, it’d easily be a good go-to joint. The beer selection could satisfy all, and the pizza that I had was pretty delicious. The singular time I went to the Stray Dog, there was only the bartender acting as the server as well. Despite being understaffed, everyone was satisfied and the barkeep did very well. This review is like seven months old.

Agree that this is probably the most«normal» place in Elko to just hang out and have a good draft beer. Went on a Friday on my way through town. Good variety of beers on tap. Good age spread in the bar(I’d say ages 25 – 50). Mostly locals but a friendly place with a mellow vibe. Don’t go here if you are looking for a serious dive, a cowboy bar, scary cas ino people, exotic dancers, «artistic» wannabe’s or mexicans(which seemed to be the target markets of other places I walked by). But if you are just looking for a lower case«bar» this is a good bet.

Good little spot, The pizza’s are pretty damn tasty!!!, And they have a good selection of make your own toppings. The beer selection is good. LOTS of spirits to choose from as well. I like the vibe, small kitchen area with a Pizza Angel back there cranking out very tasty pizzas !!! I certainly am glad to find this spot, If I lived here I would be a regular, until they told me never to come back… Going back tonight to try some other stuff and watch the UNR game,(I hope) BRAVO !!! Stray Dog !!!

Great little small town pub in Elko. Cold Beer, Great Selection, and not too bad of a price. Go and become a regular. If Lori knows you by name, you are in just like family. So go and keep going.

This is kind of a trendy type bar with a great atmosphere and a decent beer selection(15 on tap and a ton more in bottles). I’ve only eaten here once. They only serve food that can be baked, and I got some spicy chicken tenders. They were decent, but came with nothing but a side of ranch and the portion wasn’t huge. The place is not that huge, so it can fill up pretty quickly on a busy night. I will definitely be back to this place for drinks whenever I’m in Elko, but won’t likely choose it for dinner again.

I really, really want to love the Stray Dog again but it doesn’t seem likely. Once upon a time they had a great menu and a simple business concept: a basic beer bar where you could get some quality grub. These days the menu changes often(as more items get dropped), the hours are random(Lunch? No. Holidays? Not likely. Dinner? Maybe.), and they’ve added annoyances such as karaōke, video quiz games, and live bands… which wouldn’t be so bad if the venue wasn’t basically a hallway(which it is). One reviewer stated that this used to be a funeral parlor, but that is not the case. It was a flower shop that later moved into the funeral parlor that was located where the«wedding chapel» now sits.

The bartenders are super friendly, and they have karaōke on Saturday nights! Drinks are cheap, and the selection is very good. I went to this place last Saturday when it opened at 3:00pm. I ended up coming back for karaōke at about 11:00pm, and met three nice girls who eventually took me to a strip club. Since the story surpasses a PG-13 rating, I just wanna say that The Stray Dog is fun, and it’ll be my goto spot in Elko from now on.
