I have been to a ton of Korean restaurants, and I must say that this is my favorite place so far. They have delicious food. I can’t even count how many times I have been here. The staff are nice. I love their doenjang jjigae(soy bean stew), gamjatang(pork neck and potato stew), fried chicken… and the list goes on. I’ll be back again and again.

I still love the authenticity of this place. The food is really good. But last time we went there for lunch, we just had no service. there was no one there but us but servers were hiding in the back and won’t come out to the main floor. It also took a long time to get our food. It was still early for lunch so may be they were getting ready for the day, but we were disappointed..

I’ve been going to this restaurant over 6 years. used to go here with my family about once a month until all of the waitresses that used to be there quit. this place still has awesome authentic Korean food, however the service is below average. One waitress is down right scary… please please hire new waitresses that can smile once in a while.

I’d give negative stars if I could because, for a dining establishment, the service is horrendous here. Every single one of the women who waitress here always have a stick up their butt and it shows from the second you walk in. The food may be fine, but I I can’t award any stars because I’m mortified by the terrible service here. I have been here a dozen times because it is convenient in distance to work and the food does come out hot but the quality of banchan is pretty bad compared to other Korean places, and the attitudes of the staff is awful. I refuse to go back here ever again and recommend that you stay away and go to Blue Sand or Mirrocjo a few steps away for better quality food, service and atmosphere.

I would have given a 0 star if Unilocal has it. The service is pretty bad here that’s why I don’t come here to eat anymore. I tried to give picking up a try. My mom called for us to pick up a soup. I came in and there’s one rude lady who’s not even happy to see a customer in front of her. I told her my mom ordered for to go. As i was saying what my mom ordered she told me are u ordering just now or did u call. I said politely that my mom called. And she was like. It’s not here in a very rude way. And showed me the papers for to go putting it on the table as if she’s throwing a fit. Asked her fellow employees like i was this crazy person that just came randomly. To make the story short she blamed my mom for telling me the wrong order. Our order was kalbi haejangguk. Which means it has kalbi on it. And she thought i ordered just kalbi. She blamed my mom for telling me the wrong order. But i clearly told her. it is kalbi haejangguk. this is not a worthy place. If your employees are rude and disrespectful. How in the world do u expect for people to come back. And by the way the kalbi haejangguk was awful.

I absolutely love the food here. the service of the ladies(ahjummahs) servers could be better they tend to discriminate against the younger crowds of people that come here. I went just with my one other friend on a Sunday and they basically left us in a corner while all the older adult crowds got service first. at the end of the day we are all paying customers it made us feel uncomfortable until my friends mom came in with the friends and asked them tend to us more, the difference in their attitudes made us even more uncomfortable but overall the food and prices are on point. I always stop by when I’m in the area. Personally like their Jokbal(pig hocks) and galbitang but all their food is good :)

The food here is good. Everything that I’ve tried has a clean home-cooked taste to it. The soups, the katsu, the sushi; I’ve never had a bad dish here. Another gem are the side dishes; those really deserve a shout out of their own. The reason for the poor rating: the service here is a complete joke. Every time I ask for something I feel like I’m rolling the dice; will my waitress return with the ketchup I asked for, will I get my check in a reasonable amount of time, can I depend on somebody to periodically check-in at my table? The ugly truth: don’t hold your breath. If my head was on fire, it would probably take them twenty minutes to get a glass of water to put it out. It’s seriously that bad. And If that’s not enough to put you off, they are downright rude! A friend and I once shared a plate. When the waitress came and asked if that was all that we were going to have, when I replied ‘yes,’ to my bewilderment, she became infuriated and went on to calling me cheap. I can see why some restaurants are against plate-sharing(so they add an extra charge.), but to yell at a paying customer is another thing. *I simply cannot recommend dining in at this restaurant because of the intermittent and temperamental service given by there. Bottom line: If you want to eat at Yet Nal, carry out.

The food is decent. But be ware, when you go on a Saturday night or Sunday night when it’s filled with Korean older men and women who come to eat after playing golf, you will never see the waiters/waitresses. On one occasion, my waitress took one of our side dishes and exchanged it with a vegetable side dish.(She took the side dish to the older men and women). I was so shocked and offended I gave little tip.

Really good Korean food. Every time I go here, I love everything that I order. They have an enormous raw fish rice bowl, a delicious potato stew with huge chunks of meat and lots of flavor, and they have really good rolls. I wanted to try their sashimi platter and it was pretty good. It came with fresh raw fish, but I didn’t really enjoy their salmon because it was way too chewy. I left all their salmon untouched. I would probably ask them not to include the salmon next time. The sashimi platter came with marinated raw crabs, eel California rolls, sushi, and a spicy fish stew. Everything was delicious and I would definitely recommend their sashimi platters. I’m never disappointed when I eat here.

I heard here the service here was terrible but that the food was good, so I gave it a try. The food was okay but I’ve had just as good or better at the other restaurants in ellicott city. Also I experienced the horrible service and noticed it doesn’t matter how good the food is when the service is so bad(Enough to make you feel like leaving) food don’t taste good no more.(Makes you lose your appetite).

Dogani tang(beef tendon soup) — enough said. This place is my go to Korean spot right now as it serves up a good smorgasboard of Korean food but the one thing I go here for is the dogani tang. I’ve never had anything here that I wasn’t a fan of. The dogani tang is a hearty broth that’s been cooked for hours upon hours. There’s a generous portion of beef tendon in the soup. If you’re not as adventurous, the broth for suhllangtang is just as good. Their yukejang is also very tasty and has a ton of ingredients in it to make your tummy warm and full. If you really love beef tendon you can order the steamed dish to share amongst your party and eat it as a complement to your meal. Yetnal also has«sets» meant to feed 5 or 6 people — I had this with 4 other heavy eaters and we still couldn’t finish! Snow storm in the midst?! Stop by here to warm up with some dogani tang — you won’t regret it! It’s even worth risking your life driving on ice/snow! Needless to say, if you’re in the mood for hearty and satisfying Korean food, Yetnal is the place to go. Bön Appetit! As my friend Paul Y. always says…#datdoganidoe

Solid Korean restaurant. When I am looking for a Korean restaurant to go to in EC that has some variety I think of Yet Nal. I have tried a few dishes and everything I have tried was good. The staff is friendly and I would def choose to eat here over other Korean restaurants because it offers a variety of dishes that can accommodate to many people. When you enter the restaurant you are first entered the store(they sell rice cake, other korean snacks, korean food, and drinks). The last time I went I stopped by to get two different stews for my mom, pumpkin porridge and shikhae(korean rice drink). The total came out to $ 34. If you are looking for food to eat another day then buy the cold stews and heat it when you get home :) hot stew and bowl of rice! :) Plenty of parking spots

This is one of my all time favorite Korean food restaurants. The food is great! I love their stews. They have a good selection of sushi and sashimi. Their selection of sushi is not only large but loaded with great flavors. I also love their sushi rice. It is a rice dish with chucks of sashimi, lettuce, sesame oil, fish eggs and fresh garlic. It’s then topped with a red chili paste. It’s a healthy dish loaded with great flavor. It is fresh and perfect with any of their stews. I love Korean food so this place is great to get a vast array of Korean food and they serve tons of Japanese dishes as well. This can also be the restaurants downfall. Because the restaurant tries to cater to so many different dishes, they lack some authenticity in some of their dishes. For example, their Korean seafood noddles, are made with premade instant noddles. Since the restaurant tries to create a vast array of dishes they don’t have a focus on some of their dishes. The other downfalls to this restaurant is that I wish it was a larger restaurant and I wish the service was less rushed and more attentive. Whenever I order and eat here I feel very much rushed to finish eating. I also would like to get water more often instead of having to constantly ask for water throughout my time here. The service is friendly don’t get me wrong, I just wish it was a bit more attentive. This meaning I wish that the servers come to the table to check in with us. I just feel like I have to flag someone down to get any activity.

Overall, good food at reasonable price with decent service. I live close by and I come here often. It may not be the best Korean places nearby in terms of decoration, presentation and location, but it offers great values with big flavors. Do not let odd location and the dingy exteriors fool you. The dishes here have good portion and the flavors are always full. There are also a couple dishes I can not find at other Korean resturants in this area. Believe me, I have been to a lot of them in Metro DC areas. I like to order chicken soup, fried yellow croaker and bossam. Dolsot bibimbap is excellent as well. For some reason, when searching for Korean food in Ellicott City, this place rarely show up in Google Search or in Unilocal.I think they block this place or something. Anyway, it is probably all for the good. There will be less wait. I will keep coming.

I recently discovered this place. It is hidden in a strip mall and farthest from the city but it is worth visiting if you want authentic, traditional selection of Korean food. Their side dishes are pretty close to what my mom would make. I have tried different soups, steamed pork, rice with stir fried octopus, tofu with kimchi and everything tasted good. I think it is also the cheapest option among Korean restaurants in Elicott City other than Bön Chon fried chicken.

Love this place! I’d come here everyday if I lived closer! Their bossam or steamed pork with cabbage is my favorite! I love their soondubu(tofu soup) also! It’s probably the best around. They ladies that work here are always super sweet and the food always comes out quick and fresh! When going to a korean restaurant side dishes are important to me. It may seem like a minor thing but I feel like it really shows the quality of the food and their side dishes are good and plentiful! I could continue to rave about their food but you just gotta try it out!

I probably should have kept to traditional Korean food here. Instead, I ordered seafood bap. It was rice covered with field greens, strips of zucchini, roe, and sashimi. The field greens made the dish confusing to eat. The greens were so big that it made it difficult to mix the dish and spoon the food out. It would have been better if the greens were cut into smaller portions or if they used a different type of green. I also felt like it was lacking in flavor. I kept adding more gochujang to the bowl, wishing there were more flavors/items in the mix. I also ordered the green tree roll, which was eel, crab sticks, roe, wrapped in a roll with avocado, eel sauce, and mayo sauce on top. The presentation was definitely impressive — the avocados were thinly sliced and fanned out over the roll — but I thought the roll was a little too creamy for me. The avocado and mayo hid the flavor of the eel a little too well, but I actually enjoy eel so I would have liked more of the eel flavor to come out. My friends liked it and said they don’t usually like eel but they liked that roll. For me, though, I feel like if an eel roll stops tasting like eel, that sort of defeats the purpose of the roll. Anyway, not the best experience. I’ll have to come back and try some more traditional dishes. From what others have written, the stews/soups are probably the safer choice.

Yet Nal House is a lesser known Korean restaurant in Ellicott City. It’s homey and gives off a mom and pop-ish kind of feel. That being said, I wasn’t impressed. The good: Casseroles and soup-based Korean cuisine are pretty authentic and traditional. The bad: The non-soup-based foods are not up to par. Especially the LA kalbi. The meat quality is poor, to say the least — it’s either very tough or full of fat. The ugly: Service. Food does come out in a reasonable time, but staff seems to be very unfriendly and unapologetically rude. In addition,(though I have no qualms about tipping $ 10 on a $ 40 meal) it shouldn’t be assumed that if I place a $ 50 bill in the checkbook, that the extra $ 10 is tip. That’s exactly what happened. I waited a good 15 minutes to get the change on the meal back, but that never occurred. Not a fan of this place… there are much better options in Ellicott City.

Buried in the corner of the somewhat-dilapidated Bethany shopping center lies Yet Nal House. The signage looks tired and worn. Even if you take a peek through the front door, it looks like a take-out joint(in fact, the location used to be a Chinese take-out restaurant back in the day). It’s a far cry from the modern industrial look of Honey Pig and the cozy, warm interior of Shin Chon. But if you walk in, you might just be surprised. Immediately upon entering the restaurant, you’ll notice that the left side contains a fairly large seating area and bar. It’s like a homier version of Shin Chon. The menu is covered in a faux Louis Vuitton print. Knowing the Korean penchant for all things branded, especially LV, it made me laugh a bit. Anyways, I’ve found out that there are two menus. Some of them are written almost entirely in Korean while others have English descriptions on them. I think they’re given somewhat randomly so if you have a menu you can’t read, just ask for another one. Ddukbokee — a spicy rice cake dish. It’s well seasoned and the rice cakes were perfectly cooked(not too squishy and not too firm). Soojaebi — a soup consisting of thin noodles. I didn’t try much of it but my mom and brother really like this soup here. Haejangguk — this is a spicy pork soup that is known as «hangover soup.» It’s not as spicy as I’d prefer, but it was very filling. BUTTHEREISSOMETHINGELSEHERE!!! The biggest surprise for me was the presence of Dak Galbi. This totally made my day. It’s a dish that’s well-known in Korea(a city called Chuncheon is famous for it – they have a street literally named«dak galbi street» which is lined with dak galbi restaurants. But for some reason, finding this dish in Maryland is a little like trying to find the Loch Ness Monster. Unlike the more familiar«galbi» that is found in KBBQ, this is a meat dish that is almost more of a stir fry. The dak galbi at Yet Nal House consists of chicken, sweet potatoes, cabbage, rice cakes – all mixed with a spicy sauce that is similar(but not identical) to the ddukbokee sauce. It’s cooked at the table and at $ 30 a dish, it’s a huge dish meant to be shared. The taste was good. It wasn’t spicy as the dak galbi I’ve had in Korea… and this dish lacked extras that restaurants in Korea would add(like noodles for example). But considering it’s a dish that is very rare to find in this area, it makes me really happy. It’s a lot of food. So much that we had leftovers too(it’s so good the next day). In Korea, sometimes when there’s not much food left in the huge pan, they throw in rice and mix it all together for even more food. I don’t know if Yet Nal House does this because I was too full to even bother. At any rate, if you like spicy foods or want something a little different, give it a shot. It also pairs well with Korean beers or soda like Sprite(I’m not sure if Yet Nal House sells«cider» which is the Korean style Sprite).
