Love to hit up this little spot when I’m visiting friends who live in the area! Good portions for your buck and have never been disappointed with my meal. Have only had breakfast items like pancakes, omelets and French toast. Staff is friendly and attentive. Dining area is on the smaller side.

Great local diner. Service is attentive, food is good with decent prices, and the portions are huge. Very quick if you are in a hurry, but you don’t feel rushed by staff. Cash only so be prepared.

Great breakfast and fast friendly service. We’ve been coming for years. However, this time I got chili and was quite disappointed that it’s not homemade. A $ 6 bowl of Hormel chili really ruined my appetite. Yuk!

If you live in town and haven’t gone here yet, that is a shame. This place is great, the food and service are always exceptional. The comradery is thick and the atmosphere is welcoming. Seat yourself, pay in cash, and if you don’t pull out a gauge to measure how runny your eggs are and just go with the flow you’ll have a great time every time.

Went for breakfast place was filthy, everyone standing around doing nothing while tables were filthy flies everywhere! Waitress disappeared never came back to check on us. Then to top it all off when someone decided to clean she sprayed this nasty smelling stuff and ruined our meal. The one good thing was the bus boy who was extremely helpful. If anyone deserves a tip its him

One of my favorite breakfast stops in the area. Everything taste great, except bread related items, those are very dry. But it’s priced fairly cheap, family friendly and offers quick service! Just don’t expect the best, it is a lil hole in the wall!

My son and I walked in @ 9:30 and were eating by 9:40. Basic breakfast prepared well. Place gets busy but we lucked out since it was a weekday and a little later in the am. Our servers were pleasant and attentive. We will be back for sure.

My fiancè and I have started to make weekly trips to this little hole in the wall slice of heaven about a month or so ago, and boy are we glad we stopped in! We love coming here so much! The staff is so friendly each and every visit, and the food is always delicious! He always gets the cinnamon raisin French toast with strawberries and drools over it each time. I like to switch it up — omelettes are great, home fries are homemade! Croissants are always fresh, making their chicken salad sandwich fantastic! Each visit we seem to always have either Danielle or Nicole as our waitress. They make our visits that much more enjoyable! Very friendly girls who make you feel right at home :) Nicole always remembers that I drink enough iced coffee to supply an army and offers one to go, while Danielle always remembers that my soon to be husband«needs» his bacon extra well done. I could rave for days about this place… don’t ever change, Chuck Wagon! We love you!

I came back to give it another try. Again, the staff was friendly, the coffee was hot and I really enjoyed the breakfast. The eggs were cooked to order and the pancakes were very good. One person ordered lunch and really enjoyed it. I really like the fact that they offer coupons. It’s a good reminder to dine in town more often. At times, it’s too easy to shop or eat outside of town.

I have been going to the Chuck Wagon for 26 years– they have a lot of the original staff and they really enjoy keeping up with your life(as my family enjoys keeping up with theirs!). I was born and raised in Ellington(and bought a house here when I was 20), and the Chuck Wagon has always been a staple. Their food comes in large portions, reasonably priced. We go more for the atmosphere– my mom and I have«dates» at least once every couple of weeks. I will continue to go here as long as I live in the area!

Read the reviews and we were going to be in Ellington for an oil change and figured we’d give this place a shot. Upon arriving and exiting our car we were greeted by the smell of farmland(i.e. fresh manure). While this isn’t the restaurants fault, it certainly wasn’t a great start. Fortunately inside smelled fine and was unaffected by outside. The restaurant was clean and welcoming, staff were friendly and responsive. However the breakfast left much to be desired(we ate midweek fwiw, so not crowded) I ordered my eggs over-medium/medium-well(very little runny) and received over-easy(very runny). The bacon was chewy rather than nice and crisp. The apple cinnamon waffle was soggy and not all that great either. The white toast was fine. My wife didn’t care for the scrambled eggs, had an odd coloration(really pale yellow) and didn’t taste right. She was also unimpressed with the tiny and dry $ 2.00 biscuit she received. Overall disappointed because based on the reviews we were expecting something pretty good.

Good little breakfast place. When it is packed it can feel a little rushed to eat. Staff is happy to serve. The kids love going and getting pancakes and bacon.

Went to Chuck Wagon for the first time this morning and was very pleased. For a busy Sunday morning we were pleasantly surprised that our wait time was only five minutes. The service was good with a short wait between ordering and our food being brought out. They were sufficiently staffed for the morning rush, which was clear by the consistent coffee refills. The food was great with good portion sizes. They were a bit pricey, but fair for the serving sizes and quality. My only real critique is that they’re Cash only. In today’s day and age you’d except to be able to use a credit card. We’ll definitely be going back again.

Since I grew up in Ellington, as kids this was the closest place to eat where we could ride our bikes. I remember this place and how it looked years ago with its nostalgic 1930s-1940s diner feel to it. Now its been renovated to seat more which i can understand. The old look is the only thing ill miss about the place. Besides that nothing has really changed. The foods always been great and the service is good too. I rate this place as having the best breakfast around in CT. There aren’t too many places that come close in my opinion. I even took my girlfriend who is really picky here and she loves it. Its the best restaurant in Ellington and I believe it may be the oldest running one too.

This is a real country breakfast experience the last few times I’ve eaten here the moment I stepped out of my car it was apparent this isn’t the typical breakfast stop. The air is filled with the smell of country living from fresh baled hay to cow manure spread across the local fields that smell is replaced immediately as you enter the door with true country cooking. I love the friendly atmosphere and the local chat always going on, but when the food arrives wow you won’t be settling for the fast food joints any longer. I love the omelets, the country bacon, the biscuits, the home fries(order these crispy) and the coffee and the prices I thought I was in a time warp back to the 70’s but bring cash no credit cards accepted I love this place :-)

Previous reviews of this joint are spot on. Service is great, the place is packed, packed, packed on weekends during breakfast. I’m very fond of this place. I usually get pancakes… which are always huge and done to perfection. The coffee is all fresh ground and brewed. As busy as this place is, it never stays in the pot long. I am also not a fan of the hash… it’s okay. It’s really the only thing on the menu I’ve been less than enthusiastic about. One of my favorite breakfast places when I’m home in Vernon. Give it a try. Plenty of parking, too.

Really surprised there aren’t more reviews for this place! I visited Chuck Wagon for the first time this past Sunday morning, and it was downright packed. It’s the kind of old-fashioned, unpretentious diner that has a bunch of regulars: you can just tell by the camaraderie between patrons and waiters. My friend Pri recommended the hot chocolate, and I’m really glad I tried it! It’s really thick and topped with a towering dollop of whipped cream. Was really impressed with my cheeseburger omelet. As Swiss M noted in another review, the cheese was especially gooey and flavorful! This gave my favorite omelet a run for its money(the McOmelet at Cosmic Omelet, if you must know)! The home fries weren’t the best I’ve had. Overall, a great little place to meet up with friends or family for breakfast or brunch! I will surely be back.
