Meh. We recently moved to the area and went on our first date to 100 South Chophouse. I got a surf and turf(lobster and steak). The lobster was good enough. The steak was pretty bland and a little tough. Would expect better steak out of a chophouse.

We went here for my mother’s birthday on a Saturday at 5PM. our ticket time was on 35 – 45 minutes, but to be fair my mother ordered a well done pork chop which obviously takes a lot of time and they also had a large private party going on in their banquet area so it’s understandable that they were busy. Unfortunately, they had out two different specials menus and when I ordered my seabass from one menu, he put in an order for the seabass from the opposite menu. He was very apologetic and I told him it was not his fault. This is something that should have been communicated to him upon starting his shift. They rushed my food priority and completely removed my entrée from the bill which you do not always see in all restaurants. I appreciate them rectifying the situation. Working in the restaurant industry I’ve seen my share of management trying to get away with taking as little off of the bill as possible or anything at all and that was not the case here. Our server Ulysses was very attentive and answered all of our questions in a knowledgable fashion. All three of us throughly enjoyed our meals. My seabass was super melt in your mouth buttery deliciousness, my mother got the bone-in porkchop and devoured every last bite, and as for my boyfriend, he ordered the coconut shrimp and said it was great. The shrimp and seabass portions were also very generous. I would definitely recommend this place to someone looking for an elegant well put together meal, special occasion/date night, or even a great spot to head on over for lunch. It was quite loud while we dined there, however we were seated close to the bar and banquet where there was a large party going on so I doubt that it’s always as loud as we experienced.

I am new to Elmhurst and we booked dinner last night for a party of 7. First, our total bill with tip was $ 300 so we had high expectations. The food quality was poor and my mother found a hair in the fried caprese that we paid for. The service was poor and the server sprayed cologne on himself and it was so strong it overpowered the smell of food. For my fathers salad, the server started to put fresh black pepper on the salad and then asked, so you want pepper? Does it matter, you already put it on. My British wife ordered fish and chips and she said it tasted like frozen fish and was the same as bar food. We were disappointed and considering this is in downtown Elmhurst, why such poor quality in our nice neighborhood. We will certainly not return and we can find much better food in Oak Brook, oh well.

What a great new(only New to me) place I found right here in town. The food and the service outstanding! Definately a great place for meeting friends for drinks or bringing the family. You will love this place! Thank you too Nick for taking such good care of us. We will be back.

I really like this place! I have never had a bad meal or service. You get a nice mini loaf of warm bread with garlic butter. Yum. I love the wedge salad. Best I have ever had. The Chilean sea bass special with cauliflower purée and beet drizzle was delicious and fresh. Nice portion size. The steaks are always cooked on point. With the remodel the place can get loud especially by the bar. Not sure why some bad reviews. When it comes time for a special occasion, great food & drinks(tasty dirty martini), we come here!

Very lively and chill restaurant at the same time. Seats were readily available and they’re food is very good. Their service was pretty good and their food is very very good. One thing I will say is when I was looking for the place, it said on the website«York Road» when it’s actually«York Street»…that was the only problem I had. I called and they helped me out patiently and willingly. Once we got there they treat you like a regular and whatnot. I will be coming back soon to try their other foods.

We had an 8:15 reservation and arrived at 8:07. After we checked in, we sat at the bar for drinks. Granted the bartender was very busy but service was awful. She didn’t greet us at all. Finally took our order and the only thing she said to us was«Make sure you pay your tab before you sit down». We immediately put a credit card out for her which she never took. Never asked us if we wanted refills. We ended up putting on cash because she didn’t take our card. Back to the dining experience… pretty much everyone in the waiting area, including those who came in after us, got sat before us. We didn’t get sat until 30 minutes after our reservation time. Once we made it to the table, we had a cursory sorry for the wait thrown in and then it took awhile for the server to acknowledge us. We got our drinks from the bar before they even brought out water. We started the bruschetta which came out quick but was was overly hard and had too much olive oil. When the waiter finally came back to take our orders, we were told they were out of two different steaks we wanted. What’s the point of going to a chop house if they’re out of steak?!? My husband went with a Grecian steak which he enjoyed. I got a blackened chicken pasta which was pretty good. All things considered, we would never come back. Inconsiderate service and management with average food — just not worth it.

In a previous review I commented on how not only the food was delicious but the service was warm & welcoming. Granted a bit pricey but good food and great service made it worth it. It had been awhile since we’d eaten here but it was one our favorite places to eat. It had been remodeled since our last visit and unfortunately the service isn’t what it was. Our server was brusque, never mentioned specials & was distracted. It seemed like the waiter disappeared for chunks of time – so forget about a drink refill! When he did check in – you better have your request ready because he was ready to take flight after 10 seconds. Food took forever to arrive but it was very good when it did. But the server was so disengaged and abrupt – I honestly couldn’t wait to pay our check & leave! Historically we like to eat closer to home and supporting local restaurants. But I’m doubt we will be back.

Not a good experience. I had the most expensive steak on the menu. I ordered it medium rare, it came well done. When I mentioned it to the waiter he apologized and said he’d be right back with a new steak. He came back 10 minutes later with the same steak cut in half, and said that the manager declared it medium rare after his inspection! Are you kidding me? Horrible experience, will never go back.

New Year’s Eve experience is awful! We were asked to sit at the bar and wait as our table isn’t ready yet, the bartenders will not even look at you to acknowledge you that you are there to order a drink. Table for 2 was so narrow, I can see dust bunnies over the counter where I sat. Our waitress was loud and rude. I almost wore the juice of my steak as it spilled over the edge of our table when served my plate! I ordered my 8 oz fillet medium and it was cooked well done, can’t even send it back to the kitchen as our waitress disappeared for some time. General observation is, they we’re extremely pleasant to possibly frequent patrons but not to people who don’t look as familiar. With my experience and for the money I paid for my steak, I would rather go to Jameson’s or Wildfire.

I received a gift card for this place for my birthday and was lucky enough to use it on New Years Eve. Don’t worry; the date had no bearing on my rating. I’m sure the experience would be similar any other weekend. We got to the restaurant slightly before our resrvation and were led to some open seats at the bar to wait. There, we encountered a brusque bartender who seemed inconvenienced to have to talk to us. I know she was working on New Years, but come on– we tip well, especially on holidays. From there, we were actually seated quickly after receiving our drinks and I’d like to comment that the hostess and our waiters(we had a main one and a helper, I believe) were all quick, helpful, and polite. Nothing else was great, though. The room was loud and again, I doubt NYE had much to do with it as the place is packed TIGHTLY to have as many tables as possible in the small space the restaurant occupies. So not only could I not hear my fiancé who was sitting just across the tiny table from me, but I could barely squeeze in and out of my seat without knocking into the table(s) next to or behind me. On top of that, we were placed at a table that had the double pleasure of being so close to the kitchen door my fiancé’s chair was constantly knocked by waiters and bussers avoiding each other while also being just in breeze range of the front door. The food was just plain disappointing. I got the seared tuna(which came topped with jalapeño which I did not read on the menu and cannot find it on the online menu to verify) and my fiancé got the filet; we split the asparagus and double baked potato sides. The tuna dish left much to be desired(especially since I had to scrape the top portion off to avoid unwanted jalapeño) and we’ve made steaks just as good at home. The asparagus was drenched in vinegar and not cooked through. The best thing was the potato. And it’s a potato… After all is said and done, this place is a great location with(mostly) wonderful staff, but completely not worth the price, especially with finer, similarly priced Oak Brook selections so nearby. Happy New Year!

Great food and restaurant atmosphere but absolutely vile restrooms. Shared with surrounding building smelly and filthy. I was really disappointed by this.

My second choice for a Sunday afternoon lunch. Was greeted immediately by the friendly bartender who seated us «at any table you would like, l’ll follow you ». Told us that Daniel would be our server. Waited longer than I expected as there was only one other table in the entire restaurant at 230 pm. Service was poor and indifferent from the beginning to the end. When asked if a salad could be substituted for the side item, the response was«yeah for a dollar fifty« Waited over half hour for food to be delivered. When asking the server if he would check on our order, I was offered excuses but no apology? Server said that the item I ordered takes longer.(not mentioned in menu) . Food mediocre at best but the best was yet to come after waiting a very long time, I had to get up and look for the server to ask for the check ! He was watching the football game at the bar with his co workers . Avoid this disaster at all costs !

Mostly harmless. I agree that this place wants to be nicer than it is, but it’s an ok, not super special chop house. 100 South is next to a freight train line and a long train is what made me decide to stop here on my way to somewhere else. Service was affable and he understood gluten free and kept me safe. I enjoyed a shrimp cocktail and house salad before my Chilean sea bass entrée. Everything was good, but not great. No regrets, which is the most a business traveler can hope most days. Overpriced for what it is, but worth dining here if you are not hung up on value.

Went here several years ago for a celebration dinner after my sons swearing in for the police department. Was the most awful food we ever had, and was chalking it up to maybe it being a week night and 8:30. Maybe the cook went home, who knows. I was thinking about coming back tonight for husbands birthday until I read the most current reviews. Seems to me nothing has changed, waitstaff slow and food still awful. Won’t be going back now or in the future.

While this place has good food, the service/management is terrible. Disrespectful, self-seeking, stuck up, and just plain rude. First the waiter made fun of my wife for a misunderstanding on the menu, which was due to a poorly written menu. Second, we had a $ 25 off of $ 50 coupon which we purchased from … it is written clearly on the coupon«This coupon does not expire.» The waiter said, «well, it is not expired, we just don’t accept it anymore.» We argued back and forth for a while and he became very rude with us. He refused to take the coupon, even though we paid for it on . Lousy crooks. I asked for a manager and he said that a manager was not present. We spent more than we needed to spend just to hit the $ 50 mark so we could use our coupon and now we are out our money because the restaurant just changed their mind on a whim. We will NOT be visiting again and we will tell all of our friends/family how terrible you are. Learn some manners and treat your customers with respect, you crooks.

It’s been years since we ate at 100 South. The restaurant has since changed hands. I was leery about what to expect reading the one and two star reviews. However, most of those are from people who have only made a couple of Unilocal reviews. It’s sad that they were forced to review the service and not the food. Looks like that overshadowed their visits. We, on the other hand, ended up having a very nice dining experience. We had an attentive waitress and good food. Really, no complaints. The steaks are more reasonable than you would find at Gibson’s, etc. Most of the steaks come in a 16oz size, so we spit the Delmonico. The steak was cooked to order and had a great flavor. The restaurant was very accommodating with the split. They even split the sides on separate plates. Just the right amount of food for us pseudo-seniors. The mashed potatoes and broccoli were good. Oh, and they know how to make a good martini. As of this writing there are ninety-six restaurants in Elmhurst. I plan on eating at, and reviewing, every one. Follow me on Unilocal

My review is strictly on my food– I ordered for pick up. Although the waiter was friendly :) talked to me as if we’ve met before. Maybe we did now that I think about it. I work across the street :) anyways! Steak salad. They cooked the steak perfect– medium rare. Sometimes the ends can be burnt and the meat too fatty but this was a good cut. It was full of leafy greens, and the usual, but the dressing is what really made me happy. Vinegarettes are usually so oily and running that I dread them. But they’re healthier so tmi continue to eat it. This one had a nice consistency they didn’t run off the food and at the same time didn’t soak everything into sogginess. The salad was huge! I thought there is no way I can eat it all, but I have one cucumber left. This is why I order salads :)

I have spent the past 48 hours trying to write this in the most calm mannered way, as to provide a useful review for future patrons, rather than an all out rant on the most unprofessional, atrocious dining experience i have ever had. So to that end, i will begin with the few positives. They had a nice beer selection on tap and from what i heard from my dining partners the wine selection was equally enjoyable. My chicken ceasar salad was fine. I don’t know what they put in the butter but it was the best part of the experience. With this being said, i should explain the 1 star I have given, which would have been 0 if that would be a possible choice. I went last Saturday evening, for what was to be a lovely dinner to celebrate my upcoming wedding. We had reservation for a group of 12 at 7:15, and arrived at 7:19, a timing error on our fault, not being from the area. The restaurant was crowded and we had to wait. This didn’t bother us initially until it became apparent that our table would not be ready and we were sat at a table for 10. A little tight, but again, no biggie in the scheme of things. Our waiter was polite, a little odd in his mannerisms and style, but what is life without characters. After a round of drinks is ordered, we wait. and wait. and wait. After an hour of waiting for our order to be taken, we finally placed our order. At this time I felt it was important to mention to the manager that i was a little irritated by this level of service at a «fine steakhouse» and that a nearly 2 hour wait for seating and ordering when we do have a reservation is not really good service. To which he became combative, told me i did not understand fine dining and to go sit. After a few minutes of shock that someone in the service industry would be so so rude, i decided to mention that it was rather unacceptable to speak to people that way. He so eloquently said«you are unacceptable» Never once in my life would i have expected that to come out of a managers mouth. This situation could have been rectified by a sincere apology, honestly even a fake one would have sufficed. But instead, the situation escalated. After telling my dining partners what had occurred, my sister decided to speak to the manager. During this conversation he called her a «snide b*tch» and another patron joined the conversation and threatened police action, for any tab skipping, although none of that was ever necessary. A b*tch, she was called a b*tch by management. She returned to the table nearly in tears. We tried to finish our food as quickly as possible just to get out. This is where things get intense. The same patron mentioned above approached our table as the check was dropped. Grabbed is out of my friends had, all the while yelling at us, verbally assaulting us and telling us to leave. As the manager responded in a previous review, he did indeed pay for our tab, but this was not out of the kindness of his heart, for if it were he would not have pushed my friend who was filming the incident just in case they were to call and say we skipped out check. NO apologies were issued nor was the other patron told to stop assaulting us. It was out of control and beyond escalated the situation. In conclusion, the management is beyond crass, unprofessional and allows patrons to be equally crass and violent without any repercussions. The food, ok, the server very nice, but that is it. This is a zero star restaurant, attempting to be fine dining.

One of a few Italian steak house classics that consistently offers fresh wholesome meals where quality equals quantity and the price is right. On a Friday night, every table is filled and everything from the New England Clam chowder, a mixed green salad — as memorably colorful and flavorful as a mista salad in Rome, blackened chicken with bowtie pasta, teriyaki glazed salmon, chicken Milanese — everything was wonderful, as always. From the first time I dined there as a grade school kid, 100 S. Chop House has delivered delicious meals over and over again. I’m always surprised that the waitstaff doesn’t promote dessert, but I suppose that’s okay. Having been born with a wicked sweet tooth, the temptation is usually too strong to resist, even when stuffed to the gills is the most accurate description, as it always is here. So for that reason, I give 100 S. 4 stars. Great waiter, John, probably should have asked, and my friends and I likely would have obliged. Otherwise, an overall fabulous meal with fabulous service!
