One of the problems in Unilocal is that a restaurant may change hands without a note in the reviews being noted. Had gone to Elmhurst Pub for quite a number of years, and I think there were at least three owners during this time. We have not been back for sometime as we found that it was not as good as it used to be. When passing the restaurant a few weeks ago, I noticed a sign on the window. The place was closed but there was remodeling occurring. Do not know whether these are new owners or if the same name will be kept. When the same name is kept, it would help if a notice was made when the new owners took control. An advantage of keeping the same name, many people will know the location. At the same time because a new owner is not noted, the restaurant may inherit the good or bad reviews of the previous owners. My ratings would have varied over the years, but with construction occurring, and not knowing whether ownership has changed, reviews may not mean very much now. Had to post stars for this to be saved. Unilocal needs to do something about ownership change. Post August 4, 2014. It appears Manny’s Ale House will be opening at 683 W Saint Charles Rd Elmhurst, IL60126‑3024 Phone:(331) 2253125 When I drove by recently and looking at the parking lot, it appears they are still doing work inside, but this place will replace the Elmhurst Public House. Though the phone is active, nobody answered at the times I called which would not be a surprise if there are only remodelers inside. Hopefully the restaurant will return to a better time as at one time it was a regular stop for my wife and myself.

Poor service. Waitress was rude and very unpleasant. Food was crap. Burger was burnt on the outside and raw in the middle.

I love going here! Its so relaxed, and in walking distance from a friend’s home, so we usually go for a relaxed night out. They have some interesting signature drinks, named after the employees who created them. Food here is not bad, lots of good snacky items, like chips and salsa or mini burgers. I haven’t tried a full meal. Staff is fun and friendly. I will be back!

Came here yesterday for karaōke night an had a blast. I work at jewel osco and it’s a tradition to do this every other month. Had a couple beers and the sweet tart is a must. Service was good and it was a great atmosphere with a great crowd excluding jewel people. I recommend karaōke night.

We have been coming here for many years and have seen the improvements they’ve tried to make over the years. Last night we wanted a quick dinner close to home so gave it a try, although to be honest it is not always our first choice. When we arrived we were surprised to see they were advertising that they had hired a new chef, and they had some Mexican food offerings for their specials! So we had the chimichanga and the taco salad as entrees. They were GREAT!!! Nice to see something different on the menu. So if you are tired of the same old, same old with this place, give it another chance! We went early on a Monday and the place was almost empty, so no waiting at all.

Not very impressed with this place. Came here with the boyfriends family for a Thanksgiving celebration(yes my review is a little late). We were a huge party, so maybe that makes a difference, but it shouldn’t. I had the steak sandwich with fries. I remember thinking«sub par» when I had finished it, so I’ll just leave it at that. We did get a free pumpkin pie for the table, which seemed to just be something they were doing for the holiday, not anything special for us. I appreciated it, and it was good pie! Service was Meh.

Used to love the food but since new owners have taken over the food quality has gone down hill. I wouldn’t recommend it for a good meal. It’s fine if you want a few cold beers and a sandwich.

This is a little pub right around the corner from our office. It’s actually a really fun place with really great bar food. They have several different kinds of beer on tap, including two different kinds of Sam Adams(I like), and I forget which night is trivia night, but they do have trivia night(I also like.) As far as the food goes, their quesadillas are excellent, and Kilarney fries(waffle fries with bacon, cheese, and sour cream) are to die for!!!

Meh. This isn’t the type of place you order food from. I dunno, nothing on the menu looked at all fresh or anything. It was a lot of fried bar food, and burgers. I guess it is what it is. It’s not like the atmosphere is that bad either, it’s just that nothing really stands out. With«public house» on the building, you’d think you were about to step into a nice pub with good clean tappers and Irish décor, but it’s not even close.

Recently had Back Alley Burger(Over priced) Smash Burger(Very Good) but the best bang for my buck try the Blue Cheese & Bacon Burger @ Public House with wafer fries. Wash it down with bucket of beer specials.

Oh boy talk about a place having seen its day! Elmhurst Public House is EXACTLY the same as the day it opened, just a little grungier. Ugh, and the food is not good, seriously not good. If they were friendly maybe… but not even.

Decided to try EPH because we heard they were under new ownership. Went in on a Saturday afternoon and while most places would be busy because of football games, it wasn’t here. That should have told us a lot. sat ourselves and a waitress reluctantly took our order. The food came in a fairly timely manner, and it was definitely hot, but the burger was dry and at a med temp should not have been. The chicken was cooked perfectly with the exception of the overpowering taste of black pepper. It was a shame too, as I really used to love their chicken. All in all a kind of dismal lunch/dinner, and more than likely we won’t be going back. I hope the new owners take heed and listen to their customers when they have valid complaints.

Let’s start with the past. I used to really like coming here. The food was good, the atmosphere was great. Nice solid place to come for dinner. That has all changed after tonight. Wife and I took a friend to O’Hare for her trip to London. We noticed on our way to the airport traveling north on 294 that the south bound lanes were backed up big time. So we decided to take Manheim south out of the airport. We took that to Irving Park to 83 south and when the discussion of where to eat came up, my wife said, «Let’s go to Elmhurst Public House.» It is right off 83 on St. Charles Road so it was a great choice. We go into the place and everything looks the same as usual. We find our own table to sit at as that is the way it works there. Our waitress comes by and takes our drink order. All good so far. We get our drinks and she takes our order. This is where things start to get weird. My wife and I ask for a burger and to be cooked medium. Our waitress says, «Is it ok if it is a little more cooked than medium»? I am like I guess so. Never been asked that before. Usually when you say medium they cook it that way, So the food comes out in much less time than we thought it would take. Long story short. Our burgers are over cooked to the point where they are tasteless. The fries are undercooked. I really hate that. My wife ordered the waffle fries and got regular fries. We were charged a dollar more. Didn’t want to complain. Just wanted to get the heck out of there. To top it off our waitress was really slow. In her defense she had a lot of tables to cover. All in all not a good experience.

The pub is icky icky poo poo. The food isnt very good at all I actually have refused many times recently to join friends there since the last time my BF went he was pretty sure someone had puked in the beer bin thing that they have and said his beer bottle smelled like puke. I doubt that beer bin is even cleaned or emptied out its probably just refilled while the puke is pushed further down into the ice. No one will notice, no biggie. The crowd is mostly 18 year olds with fakes up to 22 year olds. The décor is the same as its been for 20 years. The table tops are my personal pet peeve, they are all beat up and chipped. Buy some new tables already! As far as the staff I want to say they are mean but in all actuailty the mean only comes from the frumpy little chick that wears sweat pants, a dirty mans t-shirt, and a scowl that will burn through your soul.

Good little resteraunt and bar I always like old house type settings. a place where you can take the family and is not inuadted and dominated by a college age crowd You can sit at the bar with a huge screen or you can go to other rooms with a more family reteraunt atmosphere and not dominated by fraternities and sorority type young crowd

This bar is great for Sunday afternoon and evenings. Our softball team used to go in here on Sundays after games and there would virtually be no one in there except an awesome bartender named Bryan. We would pick our own playlist on the jukebox and be as loud and stupid as we wanted because no one was in there, or cared! However, do watch your language as there are kids allowed in there until 8pm– at which time you are then allowed to choose music with explicit lyrics! My favorite time of the night! =) Their shots are always larged, and mixed drinks are never watered down with whatever you are mixing. Thursday nights can be tricky as it gets REALLY packed with college age kids.

Why does my Vodka Soda taste like earwax? Oh, that’s right, because I came to Elmhurst Public House. Again, another Elmhurst bar that can’t make a drink to save it’s life. Order your chemically infested Miller Lite and sit down. Nothing exciting or unique here and everything seems like something sticky had been spilled on it and left to dry… everything. I mean it’s not dirty, it just needs a good wash with clean water, not the dirty water left in the bucket from last week. I can’t remember totally but I believe the owner or one of the owners is lady with long white-ish silvery hair. Always pulled back in a pony tail. She is always there sitting, blocking her patrons from going to the bathroom. She pulls her bar stool out and makes it impossible on their busy nights to get to the bathroom. I remember her snapping on my friend because he needed to go twice in an hour. She needs to pull the stick out and invest in a janitorial service not more arcade games.

I take back every nice thing I said about this place. Specifically, the food! The burger was no longer tasty. I’m not convinced it was even beef! The bacon was so whisper-thin that it disintegrated under the limp and sadly un-toasted bread of my husband’s BLT. The fried mushrooms were darn near black, they had been over-cooked so long. Everything was wrong… or was it that I was sober this time? Either way, my family will no longer darken the door of this crappy establishment.

I heart the public house! I especially love going with my mom! I love their burgers yummmmmmmmm! My favorite part is the super nice cute blonde waitress, she loves my mom and I… in addition to the fun casual atmosphere it’s super close to my parents house and they do karaōke every other Friday and EVEN better than having just karaōke… the same people come every time for karaōke and they are so great to watch, funny funny great times! oh crap I almost forgot — they’ve got a fantastic beer selection!!!
