My mom and I stayed one night. I asked for a room with a view, and we got a lovely one — with a view of the river, and the ducks swimming on it — and a hill with fall leaves. The breakfast coupon was more than enough for us to eat a hearty delicious meal to start our day — friendly staff. Clean, comfortable, and not at all like the bad review given on 6÷6÷14 — which almost made me stay away. I’d stay definitely stay here again if ever I’m back in the area. We’re here to see fall colors, Finger Lakes area, and the Corning Museum of Glass(a MUST!).

Pretty nice hotel overall. Clean rooms, good service, nice pool, decent bar and restaurant. It tends to be one of the more expensive hotels in the area. But it’s one of the better hotels around. And there is no other hotel convenient to downtown Elmira.

Do not stay here — We checked out and got our money back. We are traveling with a baseball team kids so obviously they want to play in the pool — well if it’s raining in the state of New York they are not allowed because lighting might strike them at the INDOOR pool! Yes indoors! Also, there was a sign that said asbestos was found in their pool a few months back… they had a huge hole in the celing in the pool area that said could be closed at any time… the outside pool was not filled and dirty. There was a laundry facility there with a wet load of clothes on top of dryer(underwear). Also, the 16 yr old(I’m guessing) lifeguard on duty also was rude to adults and yelled at the kids for«jumping» into the pool and kept saying look at the rules… all the adults were right there and we would not let our kids do something to injury themselves or anyone else but apparently u are suppose to walk in this pool ans stand there. I would like to tell u how the room was but we were not there long enough to know. Manager on duty knocked on our room door and asked to speak to the kids(not the 6 adults) and told them if they wanted to run around and play to go outside… funny how it’s safe for my kids to play outside in a storm but not swim inside? Also the neighborhood it is in was not safe… so if looking for somewhere affordable this is NOT it drive a bit farther down the road.

My husband and I stayed here last weekend. Front desk staff were very friendly and accommodating. They offer a fitness facility, pool, restaurant, conference room, office space, ample parking, and laundry on site. The lobby was bright and welcoming, very clean also. Actually, everything was very clean. The rooms were very comfortable and again, they were very clean. I would say this is the nicest Holiday Inn I’ve ever stayed at! Very happy with the overall experience!

Ended up staying here on 2 separate reservations for a total of 5 nights over 2 weeks while passing through and working at Elmira College. Front desk staff was very friendly, and I have no doubt this is the best hotel in Elmira. Breakfast was some of the best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had… probably because it is cooked to order in the in-house restaurant. Was thrilled there was laundry on site to refresh my clothes during my 3 week long tour. Also happy to have a fridge to chill my beer! Rooms were clean(although on my second reservation, I guess I somehow got a smoking room? or a room that had been converted from smoking?). I called the front desk and they moved me across the hall, which didn’t reek nearly as bad, but was still a little musty. When I went to open the window to get some fresh air, there were a bunch of dead bugs and cobwebs that needed to be cleaned up. I stayed in this room and let the front desk know at check out. Would stay here again, absolutely, but would also be sure to request non-smoking room at check-in next time.

We stayed here for a couple of nights for a wedding. The room was generally fine. My major beef was that the bathtub didn’t drain. About 2 minutes into your shower, you were standing in 2 inches of water. And, DESPITETHEFACT that I complained early and often to the housekeeping folks and the front desk, the problem still wasn’t resolved after sending in maintenance to «fix the problem.» Guess what? Either they really DIDN’T send in the maintenance dude, or he sucks at his job. Either way, I was standing in my own shower water on day 2. NOTCOOL, particularly at $ 150 /night.(Including tax).

Bed is old and uncomfortable. The room smells like mold. I had to close the bathroom door because I’m sure the smell is coming from there. The ac unit won’t get the room cold so expect to sleep over the covers ad sweating all night.

Room was very nice, but totally overpriced. From the signage I expected a typical hotel continental complementary breakfast, but all they had was the restaurant, which again was overpriced. Not sure there are any better places to stay in Elmira though.

Rooms totally remodeled and redone. Very nice! No longer the old down-and-out style as mentioned in 2008 review. The staff has always been great and now the rooms are too! Breakfast credit of $ 10 for order off the menu is also a nice change from typical hotel free breakfasts. I will definitely stay here whenever I am in the area.

This is sorta a tough review for me. Like, being a very loyal Holiday Inn customer, staying at them 75+ nights a year, I don’t want to get down on the chain, but I just didn’t like this hotel. It had a pool, which was cool, and a bar on sight, also cool, but there are a few things I didn’t like. The rates are rather high, not soo cool, its has the doors that open on both sides of your room, so you can go directly from your room to the car and such, which can be nice, but at the same time does take away a little bit of the secure feeling, especially being a female business traveler who is on her own in a strange town(not that I am a wuss, just a realist). The outside door of the room was constantly covered in spider webs, different kinds of bugs and just sorta grossed me out big time. The TV’s were really on the old side and the HBO and a few other channels spit and spattered on the audio, something that isnt a big deal if your just staying overnight, but I had been there for a week and it was getting old. The internet is not wireless, its hard wired and really slow, and overall I just wasn’t feeling it. One cool thing however is in the parking lot next to the hotel a farmers market was held and I got a chance to get some really good jam there, which I was happy about cause good jam is hard to find. I think next time I am in town I will just stay at the Holiday Inn Express, at least those are a lot more regulated.
