Serendipity Hair Salon

This review is long overdue because I’ve been to DeeDee 4 times and she does amazing work. I am African American and I wear my natural hair, I come in for pressing/​flat-​ironing, color, and occasional trimming. I was really scared about finding a new beautician when I moved to the bay area because many do not do well with natural hair (either they dont get it straight enough, they use too much product, it looks damaged, etc). DeeDee has my hair laid every time I walk out of her shop. My hair lasts so long without having to use more heat and it continues to grow long and healthy. She takes great care of mine and all of her other clients hair (I’ve noticed). DeeDee is also extremely friendly and I love to talk to her when I come to the shop. Her shop is very nice and I like that I can make my appointments online. BUT you have to make sure she confirms your appointment before you come. I was lucky to find her 6 months ago, thanks to Unilocal!She is the only beautician I’ve been to in the bay area I will continue to go back.

I’ve been going to to hair salon for years! She really takes care of my hair, help me create new looks and helped my confidence once I stepped out her chair! I really enjoy the chat we have as well! Love this place

Great haircut as always! DD really takes the time and care to ensure you get the exact cut and style that you desire. I’m always happy when I get my hair cut by DD! An overall enjoyable experience.

I was referred by my best friend, who not only is good friends with DeeDee but who is ALWAYS rocking a brand new and amazing hairstyle, courtesy of. One day when I was complaining about how EVERYBODY who hears me say «A TRIM» always cuts my hair off, my bff told me about DeeDee and how she will not only listen, but show you how much she is about to cut. I made an appointment, but not before my cousin did, who I referred to DeeDee before I even got to experience her myself, and LOVED my hair (not my normal steam-​coming-​out-​of-​my-​ears/​want-​to-​cry reaction)! Made a promise to myself to maintain my trim schedule now that I have a person I absolutely trust, and just this last Tuesday decided to have my love put in layers all over, which I LOVE more than the plain-​old trim! When I leave Serendipity, my hair feels the healthiest it ever has! She deep conditions me and only uses a little spritz when she’s done curling, and my curls stay in for dayyyyyyyssssssss, but with that soft, touchable feeling! She is so sweet, super personable, and has great conversation. The salon is beautiful too! Love Serendipity. :)

I decided to give an update since it’s been a couple of years. As of now, I’ve been going to DeeDee for about 5 years. After trying out different stylists with less then stellar results, I have to say DeeDee does exceptional work! Especially considering my hair is not processed, other stylists have not been able to get the right degree of straight and bouncy that I prefer. My hair was grown a lot and become much healthier since she has been my stylist. She always works around my schedule and if I have an last minute event that I’d like my hair done for, 9 times out of 10 DeeDee finds time within her busy schedule to accommodate me.
I always leave very satisfied and looking 10 times better than when I walked in lol. I really don’t know what issues a reviewer is referring to about the quality of the work she does. I had a hair style that I kept in for 4 MONTHS (with regular maintenance)! But I have never been disappointed in the quality of her work, and I’m pretty hard to please with my hair!
I’ve even had my hair done by Ashley once (another stylist there) when I was strapped for time and just walked in – and after I told her what I needed she went out of her way to make sure I left with the style I wanted and usually get.
I also really love the atmosphere of the salon, it’s open, spacious and very inviting with a large window that let’s in a lot of light. I’ve been to other salons where it was really dark and cramped feeling. On the weekends, they even have fresh fruit and beverages while you wait.
So basically, I’m very loyal to this salon because they’re very loyal to my satisfaction!

Serendipity hair salon is not a place I would go back to. Not only did my hair fall down after 3 weeks, I went back to get redone. When I called to schedule a time to get it redone it took me a week to get a call back. By that time, my hair was falling out due to how bad it had gotten. When the owner did finally get back to me, she was completely inflexible with giving me a time to get my hair redone. The second time around, I used a staff member who was really sweet but I was disappointed with how much was cut off. I called to have more hair put in and no one had the decency to even call me back.
I am with the other review on this. If you value your time, money & hair don’t go here. Highly unprofessional and mediocre work.

I love this salon! I usual go on Saturday mornings and am treated to mimosas and fruit. DeeDee is wonderful and my hair is always beautiful when I leave the shop. She always works with me if I need that last minute appointment and she’s friendly and professional. I always send my friends and family to Serendipity

Dee Dee is a wonderful person. she is sweet and SUPER funny. She makes you feel comfortable and always makes sure you are satisfied before you leave her salon. The atmosphere is nice and shes always on time. She’s professional and not only is a great stylist but knows how to create great relationships with her clients. and that’s why she has had the same clients for years! *including myself* I trust her with my hair and would never want anyone else touching it. She is diverse and can style anyone’s textured hair. Just pull out a magazine and there you have it. She can transform you into Beyonce, Rihanna, or JLO if you want it. She is a great stylist!

Serendipity was an unfortunate experience and I won’t be taking a chance here again!
I had a 5:30pm appointment w/​Dalila. I work in the South Bay (left work early) and arrived at the shop around 5pm. She didn’t show up and didn’t even bother to call! She sends a text message to another stylist in the shop to tell me she won’t be able to take me after I drove over 45 min and waited in the shop for 30 min.
Seriously, if you value your time, this is not the hair salon to go to.

I’ve been going to Serendipity for about 2 years now. DD is the best, she’s very professional, engaging and you won’t be there all day. My hair always looks good when I leave! The salon is very warm and inviting and she usually has some type of goodies to offer! Go ahead and give her a call, you won’t be disappointed!
