Uh oh. The Marketplace is completely renovating and Wazwan was the first of the older booths to move to a new kitchen. I had very high hopes that they would take the opportunity to start making all their food fresh in the new kitchen and finally take the chance at making it taste good too. But no. It is the same old tasteless mushy horrible premade food-like-substance as before. Just as bad! What were they thinking? One word? This is the worst Indian food in the East Bay. OK, so that was a whole sentence, but you get the idea.

i got the 3 item vegetarian combo with naan. on top of that i ordered one extra naan because typically i love those. the vegetarian selections didn’t taste right… they were all very watery, but even aside from that the flavors were pretty bland… also one of the options tasted like the cheese went bad. i thought it was weird that they kind of just pour the watery curries into those white to go containers that have no dividers, resulting in all the liquids getting mixed together. apart from that, my first piece of naan was great, which is why they get 2 stars. it was thick, fluffy, & tasted fresh. unfortunately my second piece was undercooked. overall i wouldn’t go back, mainly because it’s not worth the risk of eating poor tasting food when i could just go elsewhere.

I went to the Public Market in Emeryville for lunch and there were just a couple of places open due to the construction. I decided to go to Wazwan and have some goat curry. At $ 11.25 for goat curry and rice, I was surprised to see that I was given four small pieces of meat and 8 pieces of bones. Why they keep bones in the curry is amazing to me as yline certainly can’t eat bones! The my give so much rice and little of the main entrée. The vegetables were so cold I thought they came out of a freezer! The owner of the restaurant is usually on site and serving but he wasn’t the day I went! I wonder if he feels its ok to serve ice cold veggies and little meat in his dish! Very disappointing!

I usually stop in here to the Food Court in Emeryville for a bite it I am close because it offers a selection of international food, but I always come to Wazwan because I love Indian Food. However, this last visit wasn’t the best. The Nana was undercooked and raw. The place is under construction and dirty, so I think it will be a while before I stop by again.

Love their food. Great lunch spot that is open even with all the construction going on to the public market. Definitely recommend this spot if you are in the area.

This was my first Indian food experience and it was awesome! I got to try different samples before I ordered my food. Every single piece of meat I tried was tender and juicy as fuck! I got the combo meal with yellow rice, chicken masala, spinach and chicken masala, and honey lemon chicken with half a piece of nan. This place is perfect for people who want to make gains! –The yellow rice was alright –The chicken masala was delicious, the chicken they use was the white meat(breast) but it was sooo soft –The chicken masala with spinach was exactly like the chicken masala but with spinach lol –The honey lemon chicken was so freaking soft, I kept thinking it was raw but it wasn’t raw. The honey lemon chicken isn’t like a curry, it’s bbqed –The nan. First time trying nan and it was really really good Overall, this place is pretty good but I’m pretty sure there are other Indian restaurants out there and I will be trying them all. This place is more like a fast food place to grab lunch, you just pick what you want and pay. I decided to sit down and eat there. As I’m eating I can see the guy who served my food looking at me. I don’t like it when people stare at me while I eat, maybe he didn’t want us to eat there. Lol AND also they have garlic and onion nan, but they won’t tell you about it. So, if you want garlic nan you have to tell them.

I love the Chicken Tikka Masala here. I have not tried any other entrée, i only ever get the Chicken Tikka Masala. I can’t even think about trying anything else. Ask for a sample.

Heart healthy food… free to sample if in doubt! 10 years I’ve frequented this lovely jewel. Recipe stays the same, and the employees are as pleasant as the food that they prepare. Well operated business!!!

Terrible! The lamb curry taste more like beef curry! It seems as if nothing has any seasonings, the so called salad is just chopped cabbage! I will never in my life eat here again! Threw more than half of the plate away! $ 13 for a stomach ache! Even the naan was bad! How do you mess up garlic naan?

First time trying Indian food, it was really good. They are clean and have a ton of choices. I got the yellow rice(forgot the name) honey lime chicken and I chose the cabbage salad. It was all yummy. Very flavorful. I also got a mango juice drink with yogurt in it, amazing! The staff was friendly, and the prices are reasonable. Will be returning soon.

Wazwan is one of the few places left in the Public Market during the renovation process or whatever construction is happening. It is cafeteria style Indian food w several meat and veggie options you can order w rice. Also, even when Public Market had about 15 places oprn, Wazwan is one of the few places I haven’t tried over the years. I ordered a three item combo plate w garbanzo bean salad, tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala, and potato curry over yellow rice. As you are paying, they have a 4 part container w mango chutney, pickled onions, jalapeño slices as condiments. Overall, I liked the food. The rice was a little clumped together probably due to the fact that its sitting in a tray. My real issue was that the tikka masala was a little too sweet for my liking. Good food at a reasonable price.

Ultimate go to spot at Public Market. The food never disappoints. The garlic naan is divine. I always get the rice(yellow), with chicken tikka masala.

Great price, great service, big portions but boring and dry tasteless bland food. how can you mess up chana massala? Love Indian food but as I was eating, knew this wasn’t good or of quality ingredients… thankfully only had a few bites… didn’t eat it all and luckily as I didn’t feel good the next day.

I used to shy away from Indian Cuisine but was referred to Wazwan by a friend. He knew the kinds of food I liked and that I enjoy trying new dishes. Upon his recommendation I went there for lunch today and tried 3 chicken dishes. All were delicious and so was the bread. I asked for Chicken Curry, Honey Lemon Chicken and for the 3rd I asked the server for his opinion and he selected a chicken in a thick red sauce. I couldn’t have been happier with my lunch! I will definitely be eating at Wazwan again soon.

I got tricked into eating here once after tasting one of their hot and fresh samples of tandoori chicken. It was actually decent so I ordered it. But then when I got my paid version it didn’t resemble the sample I had. It was old, cold, and tasteless. The old bait-and-switch. This place is not very good normally.

Ehhhhhhh… Not bad, but not spectacular… I didn’t care for the naan, and the rice was rather plain, too. I thought the chicken tikka masala and the tandoori chicken were good, though. I think they need to put a little more«bam» in their flavors…

For steam table food in a food court this place is good… Their samosa are excellent,(fresh for sitting in the steam table) I had the goat curry.. Could use a little more curry and spices, and the portions are a little small, but I’ll definitely be back.

For whatever reason, seems less Americanized than before, which is positive. I recommend this place, perhaps over the Afghani place, though it’s close.

I suppose you can do worse than Wazwan Indian Cuisine if in the Emeryville area. However the food is about as average as you can get, not remarkable, not bad, just very average. I had the Chicken Vindaloo and was hugely disappointed. Vindaloo is intended to be a very spicy dish. Mine wasn’t, not even a mild bit of heat. What I can say the chicken was moist and perfectly cooked, the potatoes were also perfectly cooked, as was the rice that came with it. The problem, zero heat, none, nada. Naan bread was ok. All in all a quite unremarkable meal, yet I might come back. Service was very friendly, and prices fair.
