3 friends and I ate there last nite. All I can say is that nothing was good or right about this place. Poor quality food, poor preparation, poor, long and late service(in spite or servers who tried to be very pleasant) and little value for the dollar will doom this place quickly. Never go back.

If you’re in the mood to try something different and cool, don’t go here. Seriously! Keep driving. We stumbled into this joint on a Saturday. The menu was an interesting compilation of «brunch» items– biscuits and gravy, breakfast burrito, potato boat(complete with homemade hollandaise sauce… hmmm), and oh yeah– assorted sushi hand rolls. I felt like they were trying to get rid of last night’s leftovers. But one thing did appeal to me – $ 4 dollar endless mimosas when added to your meal. The BF wanted something different so he asked about the coconut iced tea. When the friendly waitress asked what syrup to add to the tea — almond, caramel, or I forgot the other flavor but none of those sound good with coconut, he changed his mind and went with an Energy Tonic Elixir. Really? Wow. Interesting was the taste as it arrived in a glass royal blue goblet. Try orange juice with something different ending on an earthy(dirt) note. Yeah — pretty damn weird. My mimosa was like the cheap Cook’s ones I make at home. The drinks were a disappointment and so were the breakfast burrito and Turkey sandwich with shoestring fries. The fries were overcooked to a crunch-like state. The sandwich could’ve used some sauce concoction to spruce up the taste. My breakfast burrito still had some cheese that needed to be melted and the eggs weren’t scrambled. More like fried with a lot of egg white which is good for me but a warning if you’re expecting scrambled. At least the bacon was real. Kinda fatty but it’s a breakfast burrito so I guess. So… where’s the salsa? Oh not here, try down at the surrounding taco shops. So $ 27 dollars later including tip, we head home, the BF sleepy after his energy elixir(don’t believe the hype) trying to figure out how long before the go belly up. To anyone driving by, keep going, nothing to see here. P. S. Though they are good quality, we think it is tacky to use the previous restaurant’s Logo’d napkins(Calypso Café).

I have to admit that this is my first review — I’m not typically a critical person but let’s face it when you have a poor experience you get motivated. I am betting this place is out of business under 6 months. Why? Value:(1⁄10) The food prices overall were outrageous — fish dinners were $ 25+ — for that price you can go to Jakes or better. Sushi-mi combination was $ 21 — I’m lucky if I got 4 oz. of fish. My total bill for 3 was $ 52(pre-tip) and this didn’t include alcohol. Food:(2⁄10) My daughter ordered miso soup — I think they didn’t know to dilute the mix — it was a salt bomb and had the consistency favoring glue. For Hot green tea we were given cups and tea bags from Costco — mind you the tea was good(and the only saving grace of this night is that we discovered and will be buying the Kirkland green tea). The edemamea wasn’t fresh or steamy — I’m guessing a microwaved bowl coming out of a frozen bag from Von’s. When my shushimi came the server said: our sushi chef is newer — his presentation is different. Translation: This guy has never prepared sushi before — that’s why it doesn’t look right. Service(5⁄10) While the waitress was nice and outgoing it wasn’t outstanding — there were long periods where we waited including having to wait for the hot water to heat up for the tea(really — you don’t have hot water on tap or ready to go at sushi place)? Atmosphere(4⁄10 — mainly due to the piano player) They obviously spent some thought and money on the Caribbean theme(stained glass fish motif, hand painted walls) the piano player was so that it drove us to leave even earlier then we might have wanted. The dining area is very open and a bit cafeteria. The bar and sushi bar area looked a bit more intimate — maybe(just maybe) it’s worth a visit for drinks(you can’t screw up beer). My recommendations to the owner: 1) Lower your prices. Go survey the menu and prices of the surrounding restaraunts then take a look at yours. As a newcomer and based on the ultra-casual stype of your restaraunt you should be 20−30% lower then the rest. Salmon for $ 14. Your shushimi assorted plate(for the amount served) should be $ 8(max). 2) Screen your live musicians more. Ask some critics(i.e. friends who like music) if they guy is entertaining or annoying.
