Pizzaiolo

Came here on our way back to LA from San Diego. We made a few pit stops in La Jolla trying to find a good Italian spot but parking was horrendous. We would have taken an Über or Lyft but it seemed a bit impractical. We decided to head home and we picked a spot on our way. Right off the freeway was this hidden gem, ripe with great choices, ample parking, and a great guy working behind the counter. It seemed as if he was the only one working, but despite doing everything from cooking to cashiering, he was proficient in his craft. We ordered the pesto pasta and a Hawaiian pizza, to our surprise it was really quite good. I mean the quality of the ingredients, you could just taste the difference, and there was ample bench seating which was a plus. If you’re passing through, check it out. The pesto had sun dried tomatoes, plenty of cheese, tons of chicken, and the pizza had this delicious ham on it, that was mildly sweet, not your typical ham and pineapple pizza. I’d definitely skip the ritzy places and just go here for a quick, tasty bite that doesn’t break the bank.

Came as a quick stop and was the only pizza we could find! OMG! The best pizza I’ve ever had in my life! Better than papa john, fernandos, Pizza Hut, dominos, you name it, they topped it! Thin crust, tasty sauce, melted cheese, and great pepperonis! I am for sure coming here when I pass on through.

Best garlicknots in the whole world and they continue to remain great every time. Worth the drive from San Diego.

Since visiting San Diego, I’ve noticed the pizza shop from the 5 freeway and told my wife to stop there, after ordering a pizza there i have to say it was very good pizza and very tasty, now when I visit San Diego I make it a point to stop and grab me a pizza for the road. Pizza is the best I tasted. I encourage any pizza lovers to stop by and grab one.

Had the veggie and good old fashioned pepperoni, pretty darn good and I can see why it’s always crowded

Delicious pizza served with great passion & hospitality from chef and cashier/​wife. Truly the best pizza we’ve had during our visit to Carlsbad. Worth a trip to Encinitas just for this family-​owned pizza/​pasta/​subs, salads, etc. pizzeria!

Pretty darn good pizza– nice crispness to the crust. Not soggy/​flabby like some others around town. Definitely a friendly staff– worth it!

This is real pizza. Great dough, fresh, tasty, polite service, and reasonable prices. I’m from N.Y. and if I like it has to be good.

Great food. We always order take out from here. Very nice team — pizza, salad, side of meatballs. Good stuff.

I work only a couple hundred yards away, but never knew about this place. Well for starters its not easy to see from the main road. Once you find it parking can be tough, so have some patience. I ordered the 2 slice and one drink special for $ 6.00. It’s a great deal. The slices are large. The crust is crunchy and tasty. I ordered mushrooms on my slices and they were sliced fresh, not from a can like most pizza joints. The owner seems really nice too. The menu offers a great selection of Italian fare which I will hopefully try one day. I will return.

We ordered delivery for a lazy night where we didn’t have to cook. We tried the BBQ chicken and a artichoke /​pesto /​meatball combo of our own making. The delivery was prompt, the delivery man was pleasant, and the pizzas were hot and as good as expected. Would order for the next lazy night.

I’m a regular here when I’m ordering pizza while watching the Chargers lose. The artichoke pesto pie is my favorite by far. Garlic knots here are very good. Pizza by the slice in the store is good as well. Overall a solid delivery pizza place, I will definitely order again.

Don’t just stop at the gourmet pizza! The spaghetti/​eggplant (add the great meatballs) are excellent! And the raviolis too. Great sauce and good portions at half the price of the coast highway Italian places. Perfect for take out or delivery. Looking forward to trying more things.
Coupled with El Nopolito this little shopping center is a local’s gem.

Moving on… wifey and I came for dinner tonight after attending the Del Mar fair and ordered the $ 18.95 pasta special that came with bread and two salads. FYI — It’s $ 3 more if you want the grilled chicken pasta.
Inside, the place seemed more of a carry-​out type of place since there was very minimal inside seating… so we chose to sit outside.
The food itself was pretty average in our opinion. I thought the portion of the grilled chicken was good, but my wife wasn’t impressed with her Alfredo. For $ 23, I personally thought it was a great value with everything that you get… but the WOW factor seemed to be missing for us.
I’d probably come back and try their pizza slices if I was in the area… you can never go wrong with pizza!

We came in for lunch and got some by-​the-​slice pizza — it was beautiful. Thin crust with a little crunch, perfectly done, and fresh toppings. The lunch specials are a great value. The place is small but they have bar-​style seating along the windows which works well.
Bonus points for the amazing cannoli!!!

I had a doctors appointment and I was starving so my sister suggested pizza. We Unilocaled this place and holy smokes it was DELICIOUS. Thin crust pizza that is fresh! Yummy! and the guys there were so nice and actually cared about their customers. They actually talked to us! Easy going laid back little joint! Makes me want to drive to Encinitas just for pizza!
Highly recommend to anyone in the area

This place is so solid and gets better every time I come in.
The sandwiches are so so good! The crust is some of the best «to the last bite» that I have had.
