The cashier there this last Friday night looked at my I. D and looked at me and stated«es ugly» when I told him«that’s not very nice» he said«Same hair, you look like you’re ready for the dmv right now» I can’t remember a time being called ugly since middle school let alone by an employee of anyplace I was purchasing from… worst customer service I’ve ever experienced.

Stop here all the time on my way to and from work. Great selection, friendly staff, and good prices.

Great location(On ventura, by a Carl’s Jr, Aroma, etc etc) and a great convenience store… Nice and specious and friendly staff… I really like this place because it’s open late, There’s rolling tobacco and accessories available and the best thing is that sometimes there’s great ALE on sale, I actually found OLDSPECKLEHEN here, which is YUMYUM Can’t really ask for more so. 5 stars :)

Located on a nice conspicuous corner on Ventura, Encino Park may not be a charming neighborhood wine merchant, but it will certainly do in a pinch. The parking lot is teeny tiny, but parking isn’t really an issue. The interior is clean and spacious, with walls lined with booze and isled aisles stocked with standard convenience store fare. I hope they have security cameras, because the staff appears to consist of one guy at the register. This one guy was helpful, though, offering guidance when I walked in and thus dispelling some of the convenience store feel of the place. I wanted a nice cabernet sauvignon and he pointed me in the right direction. Wines are divided by type, and prices are prominently displayed. Some bottles are accompanied by tags of special recommendation, complete with tasting notes for shortcut shopping(my choice, a Sterling Vineyard 2004 going for $ 29.99 — quick internet search says this is more or less a standard price — was fruity and would pair with most cheeses and strong lamb and beef flavors). This isn’t a destination shop by any means, but it’s got a reasonable selection of alcohol(besides wine, they carry plenty of beer and all your standard liquors) and a friendly if meager staff. Sketchiness factor is extremely low, and yes, bless them, I got carded. I approve.
