This place is AWESOME! The atmosphere is inviting, the food is to die for (best homemade salsa I ever had), and the service is the best. So welcoming… definitely coming back!

First visit to Mikki’s this weekend. I’m trying to hit all of the breakfast spots in Escondido! We arrived late in the morning and were told to sit anywhere, it was not crowded at all. I considered getting biscuits and gravy but there was a review that said the gravy was awful, so that made me nervous, so I ordered the French Toast combo that came with eggs, hashbrowns and bacon. I liked how the bacon was cooked, crispy without being burnt, but it was sort of a small portion, I think it was supposed to be two slices, but it was the equivalent of one slice. the eggs were scrambled just right and the hashbrowns were fine. I wasn’t a hug fan of the hashbrowns and I’m not sure why, I usually love them, but they weren’t very crispy and just didn’t wow me. The French Toast was fine, made with regular sliced bread, kind of what French Toast is like if you make it at home. The husband ordered the machaca and eggs and he was very happy with his meal.
Overall, the food was fine. Nothing special, but good.
Service was excellent. Our server was very friendly and very attentive. The cost was average for a diner breakfast. I think it came out to about $ 22 for two meals and an iced tea so a decent value. They accept credit cards.
The bathroom wasn’t pleasant. It had a VERY strong scent in there, maybe a cleaning product, that gagged me and I had to hold my breath and cover my face until i could escape.
Decent experience. I would eat there again, but it is unlikely I would choose it because I can get similar or better meals closer to home or at other local breakfast establishments.

Great food, great service and great prices! I must admit that I’ve never been there for lunch or dinner but it is one of the best breakfast places in Escondido!

As for the rest — This place has a 4 star average on Unilocal — which leads me to believe IHOP must be a 6 star outfit.

Had breakfast here. Lots of food, well-​cooked and delicious. The café is adorable and retro. Very clean ad the staff is super friendly. Best kept secret in Escondido!

Staff here is super nice. I would say the prime rib that they advertise does kind of suck. It’s cut very thin and it looks more like a Porkchop haha! Breakfast is super good. The waffle is is a Belgian style thick, tasty treat. Omelettes are good. My boyfriend loves the sausage only because he likes how the waitress says «Sausage «. Club sandwich and French dip are recommended for lunch. We are regulars here due to the prices, the friendly staff, and the good food. Much better than a Denny’s or an IHOP.

Excellent service from a mom and pop business always totally satisfied with the service they provide.

Two stars is only because the staff was sweet… But seriously? Stop all crowding at the bar to watch tv when you are at work. Yes, I noticed. The biscuits and gravy was the worst I’ve had In my life. Burnt, soggy, and flavorless. I couldn’t eat more than two bites. My mom kept sniffing her Ham because it smelled funny… That shouldn’t have been the case. It’s an old run down musty diner. DONT GO. You will regret it.

My family and I have been going here for breakfast since we moved to Escondido in February of 2013. The waitresses know us and are so kind, especially to our little girl! Our go-​to meals are the strawberry pancake combo with homefries and the french toast combo with hashbrows. We’ve also had the fresh fruit plate and it’s always filled with fresh and flavorful fruit. This place is much better than chain restaurants like Dennys and Ihop. You’re treated like family here and plus the prices are really good. Try them, you won’t be disappointed!

I respect the hard working seniors that work here. They also own it. Its like having my grandmother make me breakfast. And to all the bad stars. shame on you. is your grandmother still working? have patience people. They have the best pancakes.

I will never go here again. My Aunt dropped some cash in between seats and wall and wasn’t sure what the folded bills were. The manager/​owner came over took out bench seat and the only thing that was found was 2 folded $ 20s. The waitress a very nice person up till now came over and said a regular lost 2 20s in that same booth. What are the odds. My aunt counted her money and it was correct. The waitress then out loud in front of everyone says something about
honesty and insinuates that my 64 year old Aunt was dishonest. That made me very angry. I will never go back there again !!! Rude and wrong !! I will not be back and neither will any of my friends or family !!!

Family run, affordable, very good food. If you are in the area and looking for a good breakfast or lunch spot, I highly recommend this place!

We’ve been here several times. Delicious food and great service. The pumpkin pancakes are amazing!

If you expect great service DONT GO HERE. Rude rude rude! And to top it off the person I was dealing with wad the owner? Food not great either. I asked if they used real eggs and explained I couldn’t have the fake eggs because they made me sick… oh my goodness she gave me the dirtiest look like I offended her.
Made my waffle wrong and she was rude too so I said I didn’t want it anymore. So she pushed my parents to try to take it! That’s when I lost it. My parents wanted no problems and were not involved I told her I wasn’t paying for it because I told her specifically not to remake it and she did it anyway. Then left very angry. Will be Contacting better business bureu

Nice family business that is always very friendly. I have been several times, and will continue to be a repeat customer. I found this place after leaving IHOP because they did not have a tuna melt on the menu & that is what my pregnant self had a craving for at the time. I would much rather give this family my business, than any chain diner.

My 2yr old loves the waitress. we always say we want to try somewhere else but we end up here. I share my plate with him because it’s so much food.

The Wife and I came here for breakfast, unfortunately we left only having Coffee…
What gives you say? We were promptly seated OR told sit wherever you’d like so we did, a waitress came behind us dropped a couple menu’s asked if we like something to drink, coffee was served.
We then looked over the menu and decided what we wanted, it was a busy Sunday morning and we watched as she went back and fourth delivering food etc. after about 10 minutes I got impatient as their was another waitress not doing as much and another lady whom I guess was just the Coffee refiller lady! I tried to flag our waitress down but she didn’t pay much attention I guess she was too busy…
Then another waitress comes over and says your waitress is busy right now she’ll be with you soon! (((REALLY))) your ASS is basically standing around, you can come over to give me a message WHY can’t YOU take our order?

Solid 3.5 stars. Nice little family restaurant hidden away in the corner of a strip mall. It does not look like much from the outside. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food is decent. I had the corn beef hash with pancakes. The pancakes were moist and tasty. I really like the warm syrup. The corn beef hash and hash browns were good. It is a lot of food for the price you pay. Overall, a nice family run restaurant that is not chain.
