North Bar

Good music, lively crowd, it’s a cash only bar– but ATM inside. Karaōke on Tues nights which starts getting busy around 10. Fri nights– Dj –club music. It’s always a good time. Saturday’s it gets mixed up sometimes good sometime slow. Great Staff ! They always make sure we are safe! Love this place! It’s a different crowd, often older (except for the days mentioned) then it’s younger. Sunday’s they have open pool tables and pool leagues run during the week. It’s a lot of fun if you are easy going, not looking for trouble, and want to stay in town!

Cash only is ridiculous, it’s 2016 people! Bartender (jess I think) is rude & definitely favors the regulars. I asked her about drink specials & she stated that happy hour starts at 4pm. However, I later saw a «drink specials» posted on the wall, that she never mentioned. This is my first & last time visiting this bar!!!

10 bucks cover for a ppv ufc fight. With a free drink included with cover and not 45 minute wait to get in. is heaven to me on those crazy nights that every freaken bar will be soo packed with crazy expensive cover fees or consumption per person
It is an older crowed but no harm in that. Mostly regulars as I live and work near by. It is my first time in here and I won’t be back but a bar is a bar and í got my pitcher and enjoyed the fight. And í will be back for the next one.

What! Only cash?! Thats so 60s. Well this is a complete dive bar. The bartenders are just there to bartend, not to talk or to be friendly. Or maybe only to regulars. Its overunned with an old crowd. I went on tuesday, which i guess made the experience a bit bettee, since they had $ 2 beers and wells. It was soo crowded.
This place does need a makeover. Its dirty and old.

It’s a dive in a strip mall. That said, the barkeeps are pretty spot on with service and friendliness. The bevs are a great deal. And people actually mingle.

This place is outdated and has an older crowd. Most if them might be regulars but I wouldn’t go here unless you’re in the mood to drink with people your parents age and older. If you are looking for a place to binge drink perhaps this will suit your needs but not much else. Its wood paneling and particle board that make for a dingy uncomfortable setting. Prices are cheap but as are the surroundings. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all.

First, this is a bar. Don’t expect anything else. The sign on the door says no gangs. You got a love it. The singer is cursing in between songs. Half price beer is ¢4.50. So be warned, and have fun.

Writing this review because I was very surprised to see the negative one about the «blonde» bartender… that’s Cindie and if you were really going here for 8 years you’d probably know that, but anyway. Cindie is the opposite of rude. She’s the sweetest bartender here and I’ve seen firsthand how much the true regulars love her! They wouldnt come here if it wasnt for her! She’s a damn good bartender and a wonderful person. Just wanted to put the record straight. Dont trust everything you read on Unilocal

The only reason me or any of my friends would ever go to north bar is for CINDIE the «blonde» bartender who’s been there forever!!! She is on her game, she’s quick, attentive, and poor great drinks, no wonder she’s been there son long she’s the heart of that bar and so many people I know go there only for her, she is not rude nor has an attitude all of her customers count on her for a drink and an ear and shoulder to lean on people count on her to be there because she is not only a bartender but a friend. and to the person with the rude review one. u don’t look old enough to have been going there for eight years and two u are so wrong to defame someone’s character with that review especially about some one as well loved in the community as she is! CINDIE is the best and I’m sure tons of people would stand by me in saying that!!!

Let me just say how much I love this place. I don’t even know where to begin. The bartenders are great. Cindie not only can pour a damn fine drink, she also is just a phenomenal person! Always there with a smile and an ear when you need it. Since I started going to north bar she went from being my bartender to my friend. Family even. Same goes for everyone else who works there. It’s like my «Cheers». Weekends they have a DJ. (Usually TJ from lights out entertainment) sometimes live bands. And Sunday football! Oh it’s Chargers all the way! Sunday BBQ’s and pot lucks. It is a CASH ONLY bar but they do have an ATM.

Here’s the deal… Love Love love northys however after the 8 years I’ve been a patron the older woman bartender with blonde hair who’s been there forever is horrible. Not a horrible bartender as far as making drinks her drinks are respectable but her costumer service is god aweful! I spend much of my paycheck here and she had to be the rudest bartender I’ve ever met, I walk straight out if I walk in and she’s behind the bar. I’ve given her several opportunities to redeem herself and it never fails for her to be a compete bitch. Always. Too bad because I’ve litteraly had large parties walk out with me due to her terrible attitude. If I had the owners email I would let him know personally how bad she is running his/​her business. Beware to consumers stay away from the old blonde woman… She will ruin your night!!! That being said Gavin and Phil Are fantastic. Great bartenders with hilarious personality… Great people

I wouldn’t come to this bar again except on a Friday or Saturday night. I have experienced quite a few nights at North bar during the weekdays, not a lot going on then, leaving you vulnerable to all the middle aged creepers that try to buy you drinks all night. Friday and Saturday nights, things are usually hoppin’… Unfortunately, there is only one stall in the bathroom which the line can get back up. On the other hand, they do have a juke box with an amazing selection.

Lets be honest any place named North Bar isn’t going to be a place you take a date for a night cap after a nice dinner. But I must admit this place is great. Its a great place to go out with your boys and drink on the weekend. They got a couple older pool tables, a strange DJ, and some dirty glasses. As rough as most of the people look in the place everyone is real cool and a fun crowd. If your looking for a place to have a good time and want to shoot some pool its a way better destination then Pounders. Just remember to have cash with you if not they have an atm. Have a good fun time.

Very Fun bar especially on the week days when they have a good mixture of entertainment. The restrooms are clean (at least in the ladies room) and they actually have some good craft beers on tap.

As I drove up I thought it was a Mexican market being that it’s hidden and has 2 next to it, I wasn’t 100 until I got to the door. The barred windows and singular door make it pretty tough for fast escapes and getaways.
It reminds me of home… er my home bar OMTI. Cash bar, beat up pool tables, busted up bathrooms, but they do have this nice tall round table in the corner, but it’s half blocked.
Small, dark, trashy and vaguely smells like turpentine. The ventilation system is pretty good actually, it was blowing, but the quality of the air could be better. Cheap and stiff drinks. Half the time they won’t’ even ask if you want a short or tall cocktail and you shouldn’t complain about the talls. It’s about coming and having a good time and not caring about what other people think. Don’t mess with me and I won’t mess with you sort of vibe.
Beer’s on tap are actually lacking. Minimal in amounts and selection. Really more of a cheap beer and whiskey kind of bar anyhow, but with San Diego being the craft brew mecca you should pay some homage to our offerings. Heavy on the security is good and bad. Good to have, bad to know they need 6 working a Friday night. The security is friendly as are the bartenders, work quickly in that tight area.
Since they don’t have an outdoor patio the doorman keeps track of people who he remembers smoking or not, but at least they have a bench for them. Usually bars with that much output are constantly cleaning barware, but I never notices the suds flying here, must have a healthy stocking considering I saw a couple glasses break through the night. Chairs were pretty comfortable if you had one, but the DJ when they have one reminded me of a strip club DJ and not the good kind.
I don’t think I’ll be returning as it’s out of my way and has not keep to me, but then again for strong cheap drinks I will travel at least once.

Decent dive bar. Sometimes you just need to come to a place like this that’s not pretentious… or clean, or safe. Enjoy!

It is a place where all sorts of different folks go to get hammerd. It is almost always a good time but bring cash!

There were lots of hot girls who came in here. Then they left immediately. The drinks are more stiff than the creepers at the bar which is saying a lot. Moving from Montana I thought I would like this place… NOPE.
Tl;dr: If you do go, get a mixed drink and drive.

What can I say. I do like this bar. when people are there having a good time. The last time I went was a little dead but in fairness is was during the week… I have been there many times when its been packed and have to say I always had a good time (from what I can remember) haha. I LOVE a good Dive for sure. You have a variety of people who hang out here and when I say Variety I MEAN IT. Jocks, creeps, hotties, awesomeness people like my self (just sayin) people with no teeth, bad boys, old guys, and people who look like they could totally be my kids. Always a good time when you’re looking through BEER GOGGLES =)
Bathroom is always clean that’s always a good thing. The service was really good the only thing negative that I can say about this place is that you cant run a tab… SUCKAGE… Well I was told if i knew the bartender… bleh. I guess saying «well I know the owners daughter» didn’t work… LOL and yes I do know her! Love you Nat!
Some nights they have a DJ, and have theme parties I’ve been to a couple… way fun. Thumbs up bitches.

This is one of the older bars in Escondido. I wouldn’t go so far as to say this is a grungy bar… but it is definitely one of the… eh… «salty-​er» bars in my North County homeland. The North Bar used to be a big biker hangout, but in the last decade or so has really become more of a melting pot if you will. Most any Friday or Saturday night you will find the music bumping and most every stool and table filled with a VAST variety of people. The booze is plentiful and the prices are not bad… But lets just say, I live within stumbling distance of the North Bar and I normally buy my booze across the street and stumble it home.
