EXPENSIVE! She absolutely needs to lower her prices to where ppl can afford it! I will NEVER go back. It was a complete waste of time. She wanted $ 350 for a contact lense exam and contacts. I asked for a 6 month supply & it only went down $ 50. I asked for 3 months supply and she said she can’t for whatever reason that didn’t make sense. I asked for disposables instead of the reusable ones and she said it won’t save me money and blah blah blah. She wanted to sell me the hard lense kind. Clearly I’m just trying to get the price down to something I could afford. She gave me no remotley affordable options. She says I can’t order them online with the type of vision my daughter had but for $ 200 she can do the exam and I can try to find a better deal elsewhere on contacts. I told my daughter this was a waste of time and let’s just go. $ 200 for an exam is a joke. She knew I was money conscious from the beginning when I specifically asked for a price of contact exam and she wouldn’t tell me. Not even a ballpark estimate. She said there was no way of knowing without checking her vision 1^st. Which now I found out is a lie because sears, costco and Walmart ALL told me the price of exam on the phone with stigmatizms and without before I went in. I told her to do the regular exam then tell us cost of contact exam prior to doing it. She did do the regular exam for glasses that insurance covered and she didn’t even ask if we wanted the glasses. I’m pretty sure insurance covered a basic pair of glasses… seriously, I did not want to leave a bad review. But apparently she has all these bad reviews for a reason.
Update: Today I ended up choosing costco and spent $ 114 for exam, instructions to put in and left with a pair of disposable contacts that last a month and were included in the price. The customer service at Costco compared to this place was a world of difference from the start. MUCH better experience at costco. Costco actually cares about us and advised us not to buy a year supply for at least a week or two to make sure we like these and are comfortable with them. I see from other reviews, Shaw’s office doesn’t care and makes you buy upfront. My friend had this problem at Shaws office too and hated the contacts. I was told the hard contacts she sells, a lot of people’s eyes don’t like that kind. Above I mentioned Shaw told us we can’t order online… without us asking, costco told us we don’t have to buy from them and can buy anywhere we want and gave us our prescription. This just shows Shaw only wants your money.

Run.run.run! Stay away from this place. Pushy, dishonest, and unprofessional among other things. Bought a pair of eye glasses, 2 expensive sunglasses with prescription, and contact lenses in just a matter of one year. The expensive Cadillac sunglasses I bought from her kept breaking and I kept returning it so she could fix it. I was very disappointed the last time I picked it up because there were scratches all over the lenses, and a long scratch across the other lens. And the worst thing about it was that She didn’t actually fix it but instead just glued the lenses so it will not fall apart. she also accused me that it was my fault and not her. Normally, a well organized optical place will give you a form where they ‘ll write all the noticeable scratches or cracks on the glasses so they won’t have any problems in the future, but not here.
I should’ve taken the time to research her on Unilocal before going there, but it was way too late. The only reason I went to Unilocal was because she asked me if I was willing to write a good review on her cause someone wrote a very bad one about her. Good thing I didn’t give in to her request. I already placed my orders after I read all the negative reviews and I was hoping it’s not going to happen to me. But she didn’t take good care of me (who was willing to give her a lot of business) and that left a very bad taste in my mouth.
I also referred two clients from my home care to her, and after speaking directly to her about recipients of medi-​medi, she ended up billing them A LOT more than what she confirmed with me. And it was only when I called her to speak with a representative about medi medi did she stop sending the preposterous bill amount.
You’re better off going to Dr. Ross, who is much more professional and considerate or Costco for an eye exam and take the prescription to SP optical in vista and save tons of money.

She was very rude and argumentative about me purchasing glasses online (and not through her). She even told me it was illegal — which it most certainly isn’t.
I got a great deal online through CVS Optical but I she would not give my prescription to CVS Optical and she made me come in to get it. She gave me an incomplete Rx at that time, making things very difficult. Thankfully due to CVS’s great customer CARE, CVS was finally able to get ahold of Dr. Shaw.
