OMG Waiters are horrible. They watch you like a hawk so you don’t take home food. When I was there I got my ticket to take to register to pay, which I did and when I was getting into my car here comes this waiter screaming at me that I cheat him. So embarrassing. He apparently forgot to add something to my ticket and it’s my fault. He was actually trying to pull my car door open. Scary!

I have been going here for years, the food has been pretty good for the most part, sometimes it’s a hit and miss on some things. I’m posting this because I just recently went there for my birthday like I have been for four years now. My girlfriend who has a sister with the same birthday has been joining me for the past three years. This year they told us that we could only have one birthday per table when we had separate tickets, so in my eyes that should have been considered two tables. I, we will not be going back for anymore birthdays. It’s a shame.

Not really very special, unless you’re a Total Glutton. Easily 4 stars at their Tuesday lunch special price($ 7?) Easily 2 stars at their regular price 15 – 25.

Go here when you have built up too much faith in humanity, guaranteed to bring you back down to reality. Disgusting food options that never change, barely worth the lunch price(much less the way-overpriced dinner, for which you can choose to try the crab legs). Gross atmosphere, dirty carpets. The french fries are ok, and they are close to campus… So there’s that…

I keep giving the Empire Buffet«another chance» but I think I’m finally done with that. There is a fairly good selection of dishes and in spite of others experience I think the food tastes okay. The sushi bar looked ok to me but I’m not a partaker so guess I can’t really judge that one. The place could definitely use spiffing up — the carpet is coming apart and it’s dark & dingy. But my biggest complaint — and always has been — most of the food is lukewarm at best, or cold. It is one of my pet peeves and it drives me crazy when a restaurant can’t even get that right. This was my experience the first time I went there for lunch years ago and I’m just amazed(maybe appalled is a better word) that it hasn’t improved at all. I’m done.

So, I took my 15 going on 16 year old grandson to Empire Buffet for lunch. It was his birthday. Their web site says your birthday meal is free. When it came time to pay the bill, they would NOT let him have the free meal. Their web site says, Bring ID. He had his student ID from a local high school, says he’s a freshman, etc. However because there’s no date on the ID his birthdate, they said no. Okay, so what kind of ID should a teenager take there to prove it’s his birthday? Guess they thought we were lying. I don’t know about anyone else but I do NOT carry a copy of my or his birth certificate around with me! Thanks for ruining his day!

I am not a food gourmet or snob. I like a variety of any food, as long as its«all you can eat», I’m easy. And i like Empire buffet. Most of the food is good! I love the wonton with cream cheese, the hot and sour soup, the spring rolls, the mushrooms, etc. Someone mentioned the«coconut» chicken: it is NOT coconut; it is indeed, awful awful mayonnaise. When i first tried it, i tried to tell the management that someone confused the white sauces, but no one spoke enough English to understand me… or they pretended not to. Why does it endure? The service is usually poor, but overall, its fine for the price. I am looking forward to trying other buffets recommended here.

Came back today and the food was good but service was horrible. Our server never came back to our table he was to busy attending to the pretty girl a couple of tables away. My drink was empty long enough for all of the ice to melt. It was kind of ridiculous.

This place is great on a slow weekday and has the usual greasy Chinese buffet fare: if you’re looking for Americanized Chinese food that will feed a hungry crowd and maybe make you feel guilty for how much you ate afterward, this is a decent option. Located right near campus, the college crowd is probably their biggest financial supporter, so expect to see a lot of students on off hours.

It was horrible. I felt sick the rest of the day and most of the next day. The food didn’t TASTE horrible, just kind of plain. Soft serve was gross somehow. Took forever to get refills.

Good food and great prices. All you can eat sushi, too. The employees refresh your drinks quickly and for a buffet… it’s pretty clean.

No. The food is awful. I tried a wide variety of the offerings — and they do have a vast array of choices — when I went to lunch here and nothing was worth eating. The coconut chicken tasted like bad mayonnaise. The only thing that I found to me mildly edible was the mushrooms from the chicken with mushrooms. Everything else was really disgusting — loaded with goopy, flavorless sauce and piled with indiscriminate«meat». I’m trying to think of something nice to say about this restaurant. Maybe… the waitresses were friendly? Although by friendly I mean that the waitress took time out of her day to tell me how tall I am for a woman(I’m 5’8″)…mmkay thanks.

You won’t find a better buffet in the area. I’ve tried. The selection is better than most places you’ll see, and most of the items are good. There are a few misses(the canned tuna sushi) but for the most part you won’t be disappointed. Considering the price you can get a really great meal. Also worth noting is that the dessert section is so bad that it’s almost endearing.

The food and the service in this place make think that the restaurant is a front for a less than legal business. There’s no way possible that these people are serious about this place. All the food is cold, first of all. And most of it looks sad, anyway. The vegetable fried rice tasted like grease. Literally. After the first forkful slid down my throat, I realized that I had made a mistake. This food is less than mediocre. And yet, to call it horrible is to give it more credit than it deserves. The owners are definitely cashing in on American gluttony. Throw large quantities of disgusting food on display for consumption, rake in the cash. That place was packed. But I definitely will NOT be going back.

Each time I have eaten here the last four times, I(or my wife) have said, «This is it. No more». At least six years ago when China Sun on Gateway was taking a nose dive, we switched to Empire. But now it’s taken a dive in quality. The food is –more often than not– cold. My wife was out of town so I let my kids talk me into taking them to Empire last night. Food wasn’t AS cold as it has been, but the sushi was plain awful. The salmon was more brown than pink… the California rolls were too crunchy and didn’t taste right. So bad that I gave all but the one I ate to my less picky son. Even my kids agreed this is probably the last time we eat here. Know of any other good Chinese buffets? Has China Sun picked their quality back up?

When is the last time you went to a Chinese buffet and it looked like a posh Las Vegas 5 star restaurant? Never! And this is no exception. There is a bunch of tasteless decorations, holes in the chairs, and the chef eating in the corner. But why do we go to Chinese buffets? To eat till we drop, not the service or ambiance. There is a great sushi selection and unlimited snow crab legs. These two items make up for the $ 11.99 price tag instantly. They of course have a lot of the normal Chinese and American fare. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is because the crab-rangoons were overly salty. Those should always be a perfect staple.

I tried a little bit of almost everything, and everything on my plate was disgusting — I didn’t eat it! In order to leave not hungry, I ate some pudding & jello, the only food that didn’t taste horrible! The service was good, but that’s not going to bring me back. This is a big NO! YUCK
