I was bombarded by ads for this restaurant when they were getting ready to open. My husband and I wanted to try it out. We missed the free pizza thing, but went in shortly after. I think this was previously a Subway? The remodel looked good. I hate when you can clearly see what a restaurant was before, with no real change. This remodel gave it an identity of their own. The pizza was good for the price. We had coupons and ended up buying one pizza and got a smaller one free. So my husband and I split the bigger one and my mom had the smaller one. We had plenty of leftovers, but it was delicious. We had the pepperoni and chicken/bacon/ranch pizza. Mom had the ribs as well as her pizza. Ribs weren’t spectacular, a little dry. But the pizza was delicious. I love the garlic butter dipping sauce. Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. It’s obviously a new business to the area, so there’s questions and a decent amount of time looking at the menu. They were more than patient. There wasn’t a line when we went in, so that may have contributed to the service level, I’m not sure. But it was definitely good and appreciated. The girl who took our order also brought out our food, checked on us several times, to give us a time frame when the food would be done, and to see if we needed anything. They gave us boxes and extra sauces to take home with the pizza, which I thought was awesome. It’s a bit of a drive for me to go here, so I can’t say we’ve gone often. Just like Jung’s Mongolian Grill, I wish they were closer. But I would say it’s worth it to go here and I’ll definitely be back.

Worst pizza and service of my life. Took them 1.5 hours to deliver it. Then it was super greasy and still cold in the middle. It was like a frozen pizza they hadn’t cooked all the way. It was the same with the boneless wings. Disgusting. Would never go back.

I like what they’ve done to the old Subway building that they took over to put in Garlic Jim’s, it was a nice surprise to see it looking quite comfy when I dropped by to finally check it out. It’s a huge leap ahead of Dominos(since there is actual seating, I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a Donimos with that… maybe I just haven’t been to enough though) or Pizza Hut and probably around an Abby’s if you’re looking for some comparisons for the dine-in option for quick chain style pizza shop. It’s not slathered in sauce and the toppings are plentiful. The crust is neither too thick, too thin or too doughy and it sure doesn’t taste like the cardboard crust you get at Papa’s. So they win the battle of the quick pizza in the area as far as I’m concerned! Service was quick and friendly. I had a coupon and they had no problem with processing that. Given the higher quality taste and the decent price range, I can see this becoming a favorite once people start giving it a try.

I was disappointed in Garlic Jims service. I received a coupon for a free medium pizza just for stopping in during their first week of business. I watched carefully for their opening so I could check them out because I live in the neighborhood — and we eat pizza regularly(I have three kids). They didn’t open for at least 3 weeks after I received the coupon. We went on vacation for two weeks and apparently they opened while we were away. I stopped in during the first week we were back, explained that we had been away and asked if they would still honor the coupon. The counter person immediately said no. She didn’t say, let me check with the manager or anything else. Just no. They lost our family as customers right there. After all, it was just one medium pizza. And they weren’t busy, it was lunch time on a weekday and there was only one customer in the store. So I can’t really speak to the quality but the service was not impressive.

This was my first time trying a Garlic Jim’s Pizza, the first in the Eugene-Springfield area. Today is a Saturday afternoon and most of the folks in town are either tailgating for the Oregon Duck Game or at the Duck Game themselves. Business seems brisk as it was newly opened and just getting around to the neighborhood and more. I decided to get myself a medium sized pizza for lunch and to see how their ingredients, crust and all fared on the gourmet course of things. I choose my normal pizza that I would order elsewhere in the combination of Onion and Italian Sausage to see how things mended out between my competitors of choice. I have to say, the Onions were fresh as well as the Sausage itself, the cheeses were a bit different on the course as well as the sauce — something quite different, that of what Papa’s Pizza or TrackTown Pizza would use on their products of choice. Not only would it be reasonably priced, but once you get ready to eat there’s no salt or pepper shakers at the tables or napkins alike, you need to get your cheese shakers at the counter next to the drink machine with the napkins, straws and the cheese shakers, but still NOSALT or Chili pepper shakers whatsoever, that I could — even though, I had asked at the county if they had some and they said they did not, which seems to make me feel, they were likely not ready to open with the basic necessities of plate, forks, knifes and spoons for the average pizza consumer looking for a new type of pizza experience. Rarely, do I ever enter a pizza establishment to find that the basics of food service of having readily available utensils for customers at the drink fountain area readily available and deedly weren’t any available to say on my first visit to the newest addition to the neighborhood. Overall, the service was good to say, nice helpful staff and the entire establishment was clean as well, that made some merit points with the point rating system so far — but, could have been better is the basic of utensils and were readily available, hopefully the management of the store and the corporation will add them to the Eugene store, I can’t fetch for the other stores outside of the Eugene-Springfield area, but the overall experience was enough to merit some points in merit system. We’ see how they fair on my next visit and that’s a wrap.

This is a chain that includes sites in Washington, California, Texas and Colorado. The new site in Eugene is the fourth in Oregon after Clackamas, Beaverton and Salem. It has generated some excitement from locals who know it from its other locations. I would call it mid-level quality at a slightly elevated price point. They had a soft opening this past weekend, where they threw open the doors without advertising the fact and let the crew get accustomed to real traffic. I stopped in on Sunday afternoon because I happened to be driving past just as I was wondering what to do about dinner. The building formerly held a bank, so it conveniently has a good-size parking lot, second entrance and drive-through window. Inside there is little to suggest the old business, with a counter by the main door and 80 or so seats in the dining room. The décor is generic chain, but clean and nice. Only extra large size was available at the time, but as an enticement to spread word they offered any topping combination for the price of a medium. I went with a spinach artichoke, which also had red onion, garlic and basil on the standard crust. Toppings were good and not overloaded, which is better for determining the real quality of the product. Sauce was pretty sweet, and the crust was thick and chewy variety, a bit too soft and not crisp enough to my standards. Some people will love this place, because soft crust and sweet sauce with good toppings will always draw a crowd. They have beers on tap as well as Pepsi products. It’s a step up from Pizza Hut and Papa’s, but still not at the level of the best local places.
