I hate to say this, but I had an awful experience here. The guy in the trailer was rude and non-responsive. He was blaring 80s ballads across the one sitting area. Honestly, the food was completely mediocre. I ordered the«babaganoush plate,» which was a small container of bland babaganoush and a single flour tortilla for $ 6. Which, $ 6 for that, seriously? After all that, he didn’t have change for a $ 20. Rude, overpriced, bad food.

Two stars because it wasn’t actively abusive or anything. Maybe we caught the guy on a bad day, but the customer service was pretty ungood. Mostly he kind of silently glared at us, making me think that he had this great business idea but realized too late that this also involved interacting with people. We wanted to eat at the little counter off to the side, but there was a speaker sitting on it playing the radio really loudly, which was both unpleasant and not conducive to conversation. I ordered a beef shawarma. He handled the meat with his bare hands. Maybe I’m wrong but I think that’s a safety code violation? I wasn’t super into it. My sandwich was poorly wrapped and in a tortilla. A freaking tortilla. It tasted ok. The hummus in it was pretty good. It was sort of worth the $ 3 Groupon. I’m not coming back.

Okay, that’s weird. «Where did you get the idea to stuff mac & cheese into a grilled cheese sandwich?» I asked Chef Domenic. He responded by tapping his right temple with a couple of fingers. I appreciated the simple gesture cuz, frankly, I’m not that bright. I ordered this sandwich, but the one that has a layer of pulled pork as well. Between two slices of good Texas toast is mac & cheese better than you’d get at many soul food joints around here and pork with a strong taste of fat — a good thing. This is a lot to eat. Also on the menu are sandwiches filled with flat-grilled meat(chicken, pork, or beef) which run $ 5 – 7 or vegetarian(falafel, tabouleh or hummus), which cost $ 4 – 6. Each is served with lettuce, tomato, sauce, onion and hummus on a «pita», which is actually a flour tortilla. Lastly, there are plates, $ 8 – 10, and they’re served with just about everything: meat or veg option, hummus, baba ghanouj, 2 falafel made to order, 2 pitas(tortillas), tabouleh with a lot of mint and a creamy sauce that is vibrant and spicy. I had the chicken shawarma, and it was all very tasty. I like to dip around the plate for a little of this and a little of that. Also, they now feature a few different potato sides(tots, chips, wedges), including sweet potato tater tots — have to try that!
