Quite disappointing:1. Presentation and ambience-4 Star. 2. Taste-3 Star. 3. Quality of the ingredients– 3 Star. 4. Portions-2 Start. 5. Pricing-1 Start. Not worth the money!!!

In short, an absolutely wonderfully genuine Chinese restaurant. Excellent food, excellent service. I’m not Chinese, but I lived in Asia 10+ years(Hong Kong, China, and Taiwan), and this is as good as it gets.

They are good, but not $ 43 good. Which is what we paid for two entrees(that didn’t even come with rice), an order of fried rice, and spring rolls. What they charge for their entrees is the same as a lot of other places charge for and entrée WITH rice. We would normally pay $ 20 less for the same amount of food elsewhere. However, Chinese food in Eugene seems to be lacking in general. We have tried a few different places and haven’t been«wowed» so when we saw that this place has been getting good reviews, we wanted to give them a try. I don’t have too many complaints about the food, it was fine. I’d eat it again. But probably not too often because I would go broke!

I am so excited to finally have a great Szechuan place to eat that is not terrible! Back in the 80’s, early 90’s Eugene had a decent place my family and I would frequent. I have not found a place since then that has compared as far as great authentic Szechuan Chinese food. I usually encounter Chinese American garb. that most people just socially except. While sure, I have gone to some of those places because this was all we had in town after my favorite place closed. For years I had searched high, and low in many Cities for a great place. Well my friends I think I have finally stumbled on one of those places that have not just a unique flavor, but great presentation. The food was excellent! You can tell the food was made with freshly cut ingredients. We ordered the Kung Pao chicken and one of the bites I had was a nice piece of ginger. The dumplings had the chili oil with what looked like fresh garlic.(I am almost positive it was, because I think I could kill a vampire right now. Lol) the Mongolian beef, I could not place the spice but definitely worth getting. One thing I liked about this place was they have a traditional menu, and a picture menu to show you what they look like. It helped, except for the fact everything looked so good and we wanted to order it all! But I guess that is what next time is for right? The place looked great. Better than when it was LN and seemed like it was more lit up. If you like more Authentic tasting rather than the chow mien stuff than this place is for you. Get here to try it soon!

Because of Eugene’s reputation with terrible Chinese food, I was reluctant to try Legend of Szechuan, but I was incredibly pleasantly surprised. The food was absolutely delicious, with the right level of spice to accommodate the various palates in our group. I’ve had a lot of mapo tofu, and theirs is probably the best I’ve ever had — and it’s vegetarian. The Chef’s Special Fried Green Beans were also phenomenal; I couldn’t stop eating them. The best part, though? LofS was able to accommodate our dietary restrictions(vegan), all while appealing to a couple party members who were very unfamiliar with Asian cuisine. They even swapped the meat in the kung pao chicken for tofu, which was awesome. I can’t wait to go back and try more of their menu!

A MUSTTRY! I was craving for sweet spicy noodles and they have it! The kung pao chicken is delish! The customer service is way better than the other Chinese resto who are rude at baseline. Will definitely come back!

Watch out Eugene, great Szechuan food is taking over the city, one red hot chili pepper at a time… and now, it even comes with phenomenal tea. :) My dinner — Chongqing chili fried chicken, twice-cooked pork belly, spicy mapo tofu, dry-fried string beans & a cold plate of spicy & sour cucumbers– was, overall, satisfying and stomach-warming. I was not a huge fan of the cucumbers, which lacked the tangy crunch of freshly pickled cukes, but very much enjoyed the tender, spicy twice-cooked pork belly, which was well-seasoned, and tossed with cuts of green onion, celery & jalapeño peppers. Every dish left a pleasant and subtle ma la tingle on my tongue, which I cooled with sips of LoS’ *bomb* flowering teas. I was initially taken aback by the price per pot, but my single green tea & jasmine ball flowered gorgeously, and its fragrant flavor endured and permeated through countless hot water refills.(Flowering tea dinner theater, gratis) I would come back for the tea alone. What I was most impressed by though, was the service, which was attentive and friendly. Refills(of water, tea and rice) appeared before I even knew I needed them, and waiters were communicative about recommendations(though communication overall is much easier if you speak some Chinese). What I’m really excited about, is LoS’ inclusion of traditional Chinese comfort foods, including savory and sweet soups, and desserts that are *not* fortune cookies. Who would’ve thought, 4 years ago, that Eugene would soon boast restaurants that serve gingko chicken yam soup, sweet glutinous sesame rice ball & egg soup, and green bean shaved ice? Let’s keep it coming! *Fist pounds*

I was really worried this would be another American-Chinese joint, with the General Tso’s chicken on the menu, but was blown away but the Sichuan dishes. We ordered from the«hometown appetizers» and«Sichuan classics» menus and nothing disappointed us. The dumplings and wontons were very nicely done and the mala 麻辣 flavors were balanced and exactly what we’d been craving. We arrived just after a big rush, so it was good timing, and the service was excellent. The owners are extremely friendly! Can’t wait to go back!

Well this was an experience. The menu looks really good with both a picture menu and regular one. I wanted to try the hot and sour soup and it only came family style… so that was a no go. I went for the potstickers and the tea smoked duck. The duck came. The first bite i took has half cold and half warm. Understandibly it is cooked in advance and watmed up… well kind of because it was cold. Good flavor though. The ½ duck was also cut with a cleaver and there were shards of bone throughout. I honesty didnt think the potstickers were ever going to arrive. They were a good costco brand im sure. The two sealed packages of dipping sauce made the evening. Oh and just an afterthought. You would think that all the yelling and screaming coming out of the kitchen would make for a good meal. Where is Gordon Ramsey when you need him

My husband had been raving about this restaurant as one of his favourite places to go for lunch, and I can’t believe I waited as long as I did to go! Walking in I was so enchanted by the decorations and music, and we got seated at a comfy little booth with cute pillows. Our server was very attentive and kind and got us set with water and tea very quickly. We ordered off the lunch menu, which I highly recommend if you’re looking for a good amount of food for a seriously great price. We ordered two dishes and even though they were a little busy with the lunch crowd our food came in a good amount of time and our server was very sweet and kept us updated on how long it would be. We ordered the Mongolian Beef and Mapo Tofu, which were so good I had to make myself stop eating(with some difficulty). The tofu was wonderfully spicy and flavourful, and the beef served as a great palate break to put out the fire. We were always being checked on and they were quick to bring us some more rice when we asked. I could go on for days, this place really was great. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a more authentic Chinese food fix for and awesome price. Can’t wait to go again!

First appearances; looked clean, great seating, great lighting, and the ambience was prefect. Food was fresh, fast, well balanced, and had large portions. Not to mention everything was very well priced! When looking through the menu there were pictures for most dishes as well as an additional book to show most of the other menu items not already shown on the menus picture section. Very helpful. Service was great and very fast. The man helping us was attentive and they didn’t charge us for green tea! We were there near closing and we noticed they would gather up all the unused dish wear and put out new ones for the next day. I think me and my wife found our new favorite Chinese place in Eugene. Ps: Try the honey walnut shrimp, it is very fresh and delicious!

Great food! Our first time we played it safe and ordered Kung Pao Chicken, Gen Tso Chicken, honey walnut shrimp and spring rolls. People that came in after us ordered soup and what looked like the duck or spare ribs which we want to come back for because they looked good! Friendly staff. Floral tea could be fun to try. The menus are accompanied by a photo album of each item.

Four of us ordered: hot and sour soup(kind of sour, not at all hot, bamboo shoots MUCH too long), stir-fried green beans(garlicky, not spicy, but nice), honey shrimp with walnuts(ordered without the nuts but delivered with what looked like extra), sweet/sour whole fish with pine nuts(sauce more sweet than sour, but at least not that maraschino red color, fish was very nice), and roast pork with lettuce for wrapping(the dish that was delivered was five-spicey spare ribs, not what I ordered at all). Pretty plates, mostly seasoned(in my completely unqualified opinion) for timid white palates. Oh, and the potstickers were pretty, but I don’t eat gluten, so I can’t talk about how they tasted. Nice people, just poor communication. Not sure if the picture menu(just point!) is intended for the comfort of the customer or the wait staff. Not worth a second trip at $ 75.

The best Chinese food I’ve had in this town so far. Nice atmosphere, but service can be slow when they’re busy.

Sorry, but I ate lunch there yesterday and it was very underwhelming. Maybe the problem was that I ordered the lunch special instead of something more inventive from the menu. Or that I asked to have tofu instead of meat or shrimp. Or maybe that I had a hard time communicating with the waiter. The high point was the delicious hot & sour soup. But the noodles were under-seasoned, with the tiniest amount of shredded carrots and onions. They were heavy with tasteless cabbage and sprouts. The dish was very wet, but not with oil(which at least would have added flavor). It must have been wokked with a lot of water and maybe some broth and/or soy sauce. I may give it another try, but I certainly would not go out of my way.

Lucky Noodle was replaced by this business, and I can’t say I’m sorry. LN just wasn’t that good, and this place is a definite step up. DLW and I checked it out for Saturday lunch. The layout is exactly the same as LN, and I think the furniture is as well. It’s pretty big for a downtown spot, about 100 seats, and nice enough that bringing guests or business clients would be fine. The waitstaff was working pretty hard even though the rush was over, and the manager checked with us twice to see how things were going. Flora tea was something I hadn’t encountered before, and at $ 9.99 per pot, it seemed pricey, but we’re all about new experiences, so we tried it. They drop a pod into the hot water pitcher just before serving, which gradually opens, revealing a flower inside and releasing the flowery aromatics. It took a few minutes to steep, but it was pretty tasty, and it’s great theater. We chose hot and sour soup, sweet and sour ribs, and dan dan noodles. The soup was more than enough for two to share, and it was bracingly hot. Noodles were cooked just right, and had a good hit of chili oil. Ribs were served cold, quite sweet, not quite sour, and very sticky. They were also surprisingly large and meaty. Although LN left its bar as well, they aren’t serving alcohol yet. Definitely it’s worth another trip or two to explore the menu and learn more about what’s good here.

If you haven’t been to Legend of Szechuan yet, do yourself a favor and check it out. The prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is bright and fun, and the staff are enthusiastic and attentive. Most of all, the chefs demonstrate a masterful understanding of spicyness — the heat in their dishes is both complex and balanced. The food was of a high-quality, with pleasing subtlety even on the types of dishes that are often very Americanized: the Kong-Pao Chicken, for example, was smokey-sweet and spicy in a way that felt more gourmet than one might expect from such a dish. Also, I don’t usually care for green beans, but the Chef’s Special Stir-Fried Green Beans were the best green beans I’ve ever had, and I will definitely order them again in the future.

I had lunch here yesterday, and while I was tempted by the reasonably-priced lunch specials, I simply needed to try some things from the regular menu. I adored the boiled dumplings in chili oil which came topped with a generous teaspoon of very pungent garlic. I was a little bit perplexed that I ordered what was billed as «clear seafood noodle soup(dried shrimp, scallop, mushroom, chicken, veg.)» but I received what appeared to be a beef and mushroom soup in a rich, milky broth with delicious and nicely-textured wheat noodles. Since they just opened, I won’t fault them for that, and I ate every bit of the very generous serving. No alcohol is available yet, so I drank a pot of regular hot tea. Flora tea is also available, and this is a very special item at $ 9.99/pot. I may decide to splurge on something like this some day when I have a tea afficionado visiting with me, but I would sincerely appreciate it if they offered beer and wine with dinner. Otherwise, I may decide to get takeout and have my beverage of choice at home. I can’t wait to come back and try more of their authentic Szechuan cuisine. The Chinese food options in this town just keep getting better!

So, typically before going to eat somewhere, I’m always checking Unilocal reviews. I noticed a while back that Lucky Noodle had closed and all I could think of was«new restaurant!» Well, I drove by last week and saw Legend of Szechuan in it’s place! Safe to say, I was excited. But because it was so new, there was no Unilocal yet. So I bravely went to go try it without knowing anything about it. The layout is exactly the same as LN. Even the same tables and chairs. We were seated quickly during lunch and the place actually had quite a few tables in it. We didn’t have just one server, it seemed as if everyone was helping us. They had a special lunch menu, their normal menu, and a picture menu. The picture menu is suuuper helpful if you don’t know Szechuan food very well! Which, I’ll admit, I don’t. We kept it simple during this visit, ordering the basics. We had stir fried noodles with beef, General Tso’s chicken, and pot stickers. My favorite were the pot stickers… they were so good I could have ordered another order! Our lunch special came with hot and sour soup and our total bill was only $ 21. Tons of food, awesome prices. This place would get 5 stars in my book if they would have utilized Lucky Noodle’s beautiful bar! They don’t serve any alcohol here and the bar is just being wasted. I thought that was quite sad. Other than that, I thought the whole place was great!
