Macy’s

I went in here right before Christmas and had a great experience. I’ve always enjoyed this store, and my brother is quite a frequent customer. I buy quite a bit of housewares items and cologne from here. My brother buys a ton of clothes here and they are always helpful. He has to order some online and the customer service is wonderful. They really do go above and beyond to get us what we need.
I went upstairs in the housewares and around the Christmas decorations. I found some great coffee mugs and ornaments with initials on them. I asked for some help because I couldn’t find all of the mugs that I wanted. An employee (I forget his name, but he was amazing!) started to explain where there were others. He then decided it was just easier to take me and show me where they were. I sent him and my brother over and they came back with what I needed. I was looking through the ornaments, and couldn’t find one. The employee started looking with me, and stated he would look through every single one in the hopes that we could find the one I was looking for. He was incredibly sweet and helpful. I really appreciated the fact that he took the time to do something as mundane as looking through ornaments with me to find exactly what I needed. He could have easily just directed me to what I needed and walked away. Instead he took the time to really help. I wasn’t just a number or some annoying customer demanding his time and efforts. He went above and beyond what I expected.
This same employee was the one who cashed me out, and another employee, an older gentleman wrapped everything up for me and put it in a box, and was kind enough to give me several other spare gift boxes to use for packaging some other Christmas presents, that I didn’t even buy from Macy’s. He was also kind enough to go to two other stations nearby and find the right sizes I needed. Both employees were beyond helpful and I really appreciated it.
For being a national chain store, the customer service and standards for quality are definitely not lost here in this store the way it is in many. I have to appreciate that. They also are very good about returns and I’ve never had a problem with it.

Deals, Deals everywhere. I was visiting a friend in Eugene and Macy’s was having a clearance sale. There were racks of discounts everywhere —– it was fun but a bit overwhelming. Every time I turned around I got a little lost and thought I was in the new part of the store. I tried on a few items; one on clearance — the rest were regular price. Time was up and I went to purchase my items. The clerk was very aggressive. She did the obligatory «Do you have a Macy’s card» spiel. I turned down the offer, but she persisted. She even asked me or suggested that she wait and mail me my full priced coat I was buying. Like, what, wait until Wednesday when it’s on sale and then mail it to me. ?. Still, I said no. I like my merchandise and I like Macy’s, but I was very disappointed in the pushy sales clerk. She had a grey tooth — that’s all I really remember.

Went to Macys today around 4:30 pm. I was in young men’s department where there were 3 clerks standing around the counter. I asked them a question and didn’t get any help.

I’m addicted to the make up counters! Macy’s has been my go to make up stop for years! It’s simple baby! Wait for the gift with purchase time and it makes up for the price most of the time. Clinique face wash rocks, I got my boys to use it. I love my Lancôme ladies I take my dog Princess in to see them. I use their foundation and other make up. I can’t leave out the Mac counter! They rule! They are pretty fun as well, and they have rockin colors in lip shades or shadows. I also like that you can recycle 6 empty tubes of Mac for a tube of lipstick. I still need to hit up the Chanel counter.
As far as the clothes it’s hit or miss, I can some times find clothes here but I can say there is usually always a sales rack some where in the store which is cool so I do like that. So if you go at the right time and it’s not picked over its a nice score.

It’s said that everything in life is for sale at the right price…
At Macy’s, EVERYTHING is on sale. SALE is the activity du jour. This is beneficial to the consumer but waters down the Macy’s brand.

My parents sent me some Macy’s clothes last xmas that were totally not my style, but they left the tags on so I could exchange them. A few months after doing so I found my self over that way so I thought I’d maybe get something useful with my credit-​laden giftcard, like some socks or undershirts.
Something about my appearance was cause for the Loss Prevention Senior Citizen to blatantly follow me around staring at me while I browsed. For ten minutes this guy bird-​dogged me all around men’s apparel, making me feel EXTREMELY unwelcome. I left without spending any credit & gave away the giftcard so I wouldn’t have to go back. Why would I pay for the privilege to be glared at my some overpaid, underworked asshole?
I don’t know if it was because I was a good 20 years younger than any other shopper, because I was a college student with a backpack & a wallet chain, or because my facial hair means I’m the evil twin — and the treatment I got means I won’t ever be going back to find out! When your clientele dies off I hope you go out of business, Macy’s. Maybe they’ll put something awesome in your space like an ice skating rink or some water slides.

This is by far the nicest department store in Eugene. Of course this is one of the only department stores in Eugene. Selection is nice, the wife loves the makeup and perfume sections. Clothes are ok but very over priced. Home goods on the second floor is very nice, and they also have real non pressboard furniture.
This is also one of the few places in town where one would go to pick up the more finer things in life for the home.

Ask any woman over fifty who’s lived in Eugene her whole life about Macy’s, and she’ll get a little moist in the corners of her eyes.
Way back in the day, this department store opened up as Meier & Frank. A lady-​who-​lunches could head down there at eleven am to meet her friends. They had pretty much everything back then. You could drop off your fur for storage after a swanky night at the country club, get your hair done before lunch in the restaurant. Later, you and your girlfriends would explore the makeup counters, see what garments were new in the «Betters» department. These ladies could spend a long afternoon dropping cash in one store.
It was bought out by Macy’s several years ago. They’ve given everything a fresh coat of paint, installed nicer fixtures and drastically improved the restrooms. They also now sell some nicer stuff.
All in all, they have an excellent selection — clothes, shoes, furniture, cologne/​perfume, makeup, housewares, linens and jewelry.
I don’t actually shop here much because many extra discounts on sale items are only available if you put it on your Macy’s card. I don’t want another card and kind of resent being strong-​armed into charging things.
