I just had a Deluxe Burrito, my first one for years, it was wonderful. I had the mild sauce which is fine for me. I wish they had a food cart or restaurant. Pinto beans instead of refried beans but I didn’t notice any difference in taste.

I am from Portland and went with a friend to Eugene’s Saturday Market. We had a great time, but the highlight was Ritta’s Burritos. I don’t like a burrito that has so much spice all you taste is the heat. Ritta’s has to be one of, if not the best burrito I have ever eaten. Soooooo fresh, and just the right amount of spice. If you like more you can just add it yourself. I only wish they were in Portland.

Okay, I am really confused as to why people think these burritos are bland. You fist of all get the option of a white or whole wheat tortilla, the pinto beans are spiced perfectly and it is filled with tomato, onion, avocado, olives, lettace, cheese, salsa and sour cream. How can that be bland? She also runs a queso melt special every month. My favorite is the butternut squash quesadilla with cranberry salsa. She does it every year at the Eugene Holiday market which is held at the fair grounds. I love that this is a family business that truly cares about her product and being true to her customers.

Ritta’s Burrito’s is a friendly place. It’s too bad their burritos are nothing special. They’re big and fresh, but taste like something I could whip up in my own kitchen. With so many other food vendors at the Saturday Market, I’m thinking of trying other places before coming back.

Great people, great Eugene tradition, but unfortunately their burritos are ok. I sampled their deluxe burrito with medium spice. The burrito was made of pinto beans, lettuce, tomatoes, black olives, avocados, cheese, sour cream, and some salsa. All of their ingredients are fresh and their product is high quality but it lacks flavor. Medium spice had no heat. I am not one of those guys who gets in macho hotness contest, but I want my mouth to burn a little when I ask for medium spice. I suggest some hot sauce for anyone getting a burrito from Ritta’s, unfortunately it needs a little help. Updated: 12−22−14 I was wandering through the food court at the holiday market and just happened to notice that they use mild La Victoria salsa. That explains everything.

Ritta’s Burritos has been at Saturday Market since 1978 and has a very loyal and growing following. They did have a restaurant on Monroe for a short time, but have always been at Sat. Market. Not a traditional Mexican burrito(and never claimed to be), each burrito is lovingly crafted to Ritta’s high standards. Want the full deal, order the burrito with beans and meat and sour cream and spicy sauce(plus everything else). There are lots of other choices as well. And special drinks. The people are great and the food is great. Not spicy enough? Ask for more. Don’t want much spice, ask for less. You can get just what you want. Highly recommended and a Eugene tradition.

I feel bad. Everyone loves RItta’s but my luck has been terrible virtually each time I’ve had one of their signature burritos. I still remember when Rittas was stationary café in downtown Eugene on Monroe, but now most of the time they can be found at the Eugene Saturday Market in the food court area. On certain occasions, they also participate in the ASUO Semi-annual street fair. Ritta’s for the most part has been famous for creating a delectable burrito with quality ingredients and combinations. It’s a semi-alternative approach to the Mexican specialty, but call it gourmet or unique, people line up for these burritos like its gold. But for some reason as pretty as my first time burrito was super bland. So bland that I couldn’t believe I paid $ 8 for a burrito that I could have gotten for $ 5 at Burrito Boy. Alas, I knew something had to be wrong and I went for it again and again during countless visits to the Saturday Market and during ASUO Street Fairs, all turning out to be duds in my burrito book. Perhaps its just my poor palate but I’m willing to give them another try. The ladies behind the counter are always super nice, so to rank their burritos less than the highest standard(of which many in Eugene feel is deserved) is disappointing.
