Sammitch Food Cart and Trucks

I liked Sammitch, but had some concerns. I ordered the Gobbler with cheese. I was charged 50 cents for cheese and 50 cents to use my debit. No signs indicated either would be extra. The Gobbler was good, and tasted like thanksgiving in a burger, as advertised, but i asked for no tomato as I do not like raw Tomato. Well, they left the tomato on the burger. My concern is for people who have allergies to food. If you request to leave something off your order, they should inform you of they cannot accommodate your request.

I got the gone clubbin’ but on Dave’s killer bread and added more veggies to it. I didn’t get charged for any extras.
Two down sides are there is no seating and the food cart truck app said it was open at 11. We got there at 11:25 and they still needed 15 minutes to open.

Disapointing, small sandwich. Serviced on half a plate, no napkins.

Good food, on my last visit I had The BLAT and mushroom crunch along with a smoothie and it was delicious. Just make sure they are charging you correctly when you get a combo I was over charged but didn’t realize it untill I got home. I’m definitely trying the deep fried cookies next time.

Fried Oreos and Nutter Butters… Need I say more??? I was only looking for a sweet treat this time, but I’ll be back to try everything else they offer. Sandwiches look amazing! And priced right, too!

Oh yes yes yes. These are the coolest people — so nice and awesome and I love them. Their food is creative and delicious and fast. Trust me, if you don’t want to sit down, but want quality food, this is the spot! Oh and their fried Oreos are the shit :))

Passed this food truck on our way to the Amtrak station. We had just completed a 150 mile bike ride and needed some hot food for the road. I ordered the chicken burger sammitch and my friend the meatloaf sammitch (they had much cooler names that this) I recommend them both! The carrot fries were pretty awesome too. The price was a great value for the quality of the food!

Carrot fries, cheese sticks and the monthly special (a take on a philli cheese steak) were my poison today. Aside from the long wait, which I would’ve expected to be shorter than a sit-​down restaurant, the food was super tasty and even though only one guy was working, he pulled everything off really well.

I love Sammitch! Wide Variety of options & flavors for carnivores & vegans. Sweets too! Love that A LOt of their products (like the sauces) are fresh, homemade and local. Awesome food & great vibes.

Super yummy chicken sandwich but for $ 8 I was expecting a bigger sandwich, amazing bread, or just something to completely «wow» me. This did not do that. If it was half the price it would be amazing. I do understand they use great ingredients and offer vegan options but for me I would rather buy and make my own $ 8 sandwich.

Anywho, the food is delicious. Had the vegan burger (not so vegan with cheddar on top) and we all gorged on the carrot fries which are so freaking fantastic and a side order of fried mushrooms (which I seriously think only cost a buck). We had a good time.

I *desperately* wanted to love this place! I wanted to refer it to friends and make people go out of their way in a Where’s Waldo-​esque search for an amazing sammitch. This might be the bee’s knees for a frat kid or stoner in search of high-​fat «fud» but it’s just not my cup of tea.
The guy running the cart was super nice. Our first time at the cart, he was happy to show and tell all about the items they can deep-​fat fry, from Nutter Butters to bacon, to Oreos and carrot sticks. I can visualize my brother’s mouth starting to water, but it honestly just turned my stomach. Any idiot can drop something in a deep-​fat fryer (unfortunately, many do), that doesn’t automatically make it something I want to eat.
For $ 7.00 I was hoping for a biiiiiiiig, tasty sammitch. I declined the deep-​fried carrot sticks (would gladly have taken fresh carrot sticks!) that were included in the price of the sammitch but the cost was the same.
I’m allergic to garlic, which seemed pervasive in darn near everything, so I went for what seemed like a safe bet. The BLAT boasted: TONS of cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and a garlic-​lime-​cilantro-​avocado sauce. Sammitches are automatically served on Dave’s Killer Bread, which is an added bonus! I declined the sauce since I’m not fond of hives and went for it. What I received was two pieces of toast, one thin slice of cheddar, two slices of thin, dry bacon, two slices of thin, wilted tomato, and a handful of (what looked like) bagged lettuce. Have you ever had food SO bad you were pissed off? Yeah– that’s about where I was. The sammitch was dry, yet greasy– the cheese was plasticky and melded everything together. The tomato was limp, flavorless, and wilted (old?) and the lettuce was wilted and horribly bitter. Yuck! I half-​thought some plain mayo would have saved the sammitch (not offered as a condiment choice) but I think this was just beyond saving.
My daughter, Captain PickyPants, was excited to get a grilled cheese sandwich with bacon. This, too, was one slice of cheese, two slices of thin bacon, and just not very good. She said the bacon tasted peppery– I’m not sure if there was sauce on it or what was up with the flavor.
Neither of us ate more than half of our sandwiches. What a disappointment.
My husband, an avid fan of «Dude food» was stoked! He got the Orgasmich– a meatloaf/​baconloaf sloppy-​joe looking concoction reeking of garlic sandwiched between two pieces of toast. He gobbled it like the end of the world was nigh.
He also *loved* his deep-​fried Nutter Butter and Oreo.
I’m so sad– I love supporting local folks trying to make their way. This is a cool concept, they seem to have their fans– this is really just not for me.

Spotted the Sammitch truck just putting out the menus behind Oakshire Brewing. Started reading … and … WHAT? Dark chocolate covered bacon strips ?! I’m like «Are you crazy? –and then YES !-give that to me!» He laughed but I was just getting started. Next up was one of the most delicious gluten free sammies I’ve EVER had. No really. The BLAT with avocado lime cilantro spread. Off the chain!~ (to quote Paula Dean’s son). Carrot fries? Throw out your Yammies these babies are the newest zombie vegetable.

My lunch was UNDER 10 bucks. Beats the HELL outa any Vancouver BC food truck.

I really like the vegan bean burger, but honestly for like $ 7.00. I expect a lot more than a bean mixture sammitch’d (pun intended) between a couple flat breads. Granted, I did order from here like 3 times so I can’t quite complain entirely. it’s just good. The guy (or whoever substitutes in between) behind the cart, they’re all very nice and friendly folks.
It’s semi-​filling too (okay, it is filling) but for the size and what you get still, I think a lot of people can agree we all expect more from the price. I can’t say that for a $ 7.00 sandwich, the menu is anything to really truly rave about. At least add more to the meal or lower the price by $ 1.50 or something.
Til then, I’m more inclined to check out what other food carts Eugene has to offer.

My beloved Garbanzo Grill was closed today, so I stopped here to try the vegan bean-​in-​burger. I’ve been meaning to eat out less, but I walk by Sammitch every day on my way to class and curiosity finally killed the Korbi.
It also burned a hole in my wallet.
I paid $ 7.00 for a bean and veggie patty thrown between two slices of Dave’s Killer Bread. My sandwich-​burger-​thing was fresh and tasted fine – the flavors complimented each other – but it was nothing to squeal about. Perhaps the deep-​fried Oreos and Nutter Butters are more promising?
I would have been just as content paying $ 5 for a Subway sandwich and getting twice as much food. Or even better, waiting until Garbanzo Grill opens tomorrow and spending $ 7 on a huge, juicy vegan cheeseburger that actually tickles my taste buds. Even making my own PB&J would have been superior to this experience.
I could dwell on better alternatives but alack, I’ll sum it up as a lesson learned.
Suggestion for Sammitch: include fries with your vegan creation or lower the price to $ 6. Until then, this starving college student will eat elsewhere or remain fammitch.

This is based on the sandwiches I had at the Cart and a Cold One event on July 29, 2012.
First of all, the service was terrible. There was a long line and the woman at the counter was not even looking at the customers, just talking and giggling. A man in the back was drinking beer. I do understand this was a fundraising event held at a brewery, but I expect reasonable service. I had to wait over 15 minutes to get to the ordering counter. (There were 6 people ahead of me in line.) I ordered two Orgazmich (?) sandwiches which were said to have bacon, egg, and beef. BOTH of the sandwiches I received were VEGETARIAN. I was handed a cold, previously-​wrongly ordered item first, and I had to wait for the second one for another 5 minutes. I knew they were swamped; I didn’t ask them to remake mine. But I informed the lady at the counter that I got the wrong order. She said «I was just handing them out. OH WELL.»
The party sitting right next to us also got served the wrong sandwiches. But at least they got their fries. (I didn’t get any.)
Sauces/​condiments weren’t labeled clearly.
This was a terrible experience and I will not patronize this establishment.

This is a new food cart in Eugene serving the tastiest patty sandwiches and a few other items, using local ingredients, for a great price.
I had the red and green Stop and Go chicken burger. It has red and green peppers, onion and garlic mixed in with artichoke and spices. On a bun with lettuce, avocado and tomato, it’s a good size and not overcooked. Not overly spicy, it has a lot of flavors happening simultaneously. You won’t want to consumate this beautiful burger all at once. Nibble a little, then slow down, then go again, take your time, the resulting taste explosion is well worth the effort.
They have a home made vegan burger with corn kernels and beans that looked tasty. We love those organic burgers, delicious and wholesome, they smell good too. My friends were quite excited with the 50 – 50 bacon-​beef burger — the bacon is cooked in the patty. Let’s just say it is drippingly juicy, leaving a big wet spot.
If you can catch the cart for breakfast, and you are not vegetarian, you should treat yourself to the most orgasmicly heart-​stopping biscuits and gravy imaginable. The current working name for the dish is Sh*t on a Shingle, but that could change. For the opening, the biscuit was a very tasty seed bread. The gravy was filled with addictive spices and very spicy sausage, developed from the cart chef’s own mom’s recipe. After eating this one, you should definitely get back in bed for breakfast desert.
I think the address given is temporary, so follow them and update it when the cart finds a permanent spot. They don’t have their own website yet, so Facebook is the best way to find them now, and there are pretty detailed descriptions of the menu there too.
