Went back a couple months ago and was very disappointed. Not nearly as good an experience as the visit back late last year(see my review from Nov 11÷11÷15). Same phone order as before(a Basic Burger” with cheddar cheese and pepper bacon and a «Basic Burger» with cheddar cheese and grilled onions. Onion rings and fries were our sides), However, this time after my wife brought everything home, we discovered that my burger was missing the bacon. It also had onions on it, which we had specifically told them when ordering that I did not want. So, we called them and they offered to cook me a new burger. And my wife drove back down to pick it up. When she got there, she asked why the receipt showed the correct order, but what we’d received didn’t match. The manager told her that it was because the cook was upset about something personal and had been making a mistakes all night. Really??? Is that something you tell a customer? And so why didn’t you send him home then and get someone else in who was up to doing the job correctly, instead of allowing his personal issues to cause incorrect orders? Anyway, by the time they remade my burger(and threw in some complimentary fries for all the trouble), almost a full hour had passed. And by the time my wife got back home, her burger and fries(which were still sitting on the kitchen table in the take out box) had become cold and soggy.

Had the burger called The Works and wanted to lose my mind it was so good. The décor is way cool. It was open what seemed to be late and wasn’t packed to my surprise being that it was so good… well at least mine was. My lady her garlic fries weren’t all that so she ate my onion rings. The young lady working the counter was very fashionable, but not the nicest. It seemed like she wanted to go home and kick up her feet, which I understand but better customer service would have got all five stars.

Now on my 4th or so trip here… I can continue to say this place is FAB!!! The onion rings are killer! And you have to try the pesto burger with chicken. Also the fish and chips with home made potato chips!!! I have to say I am so happy the owner of 6th and E and Humboldt Soup Co. Has added SO much to the lunch scene in Eureka!!! Thank you for coming to our town and sharing your amazing talents!!!

I want the option of fresh chips with a burger. I don’t like that the fish is mandatory to get the chips. It’s strange that you offer chips, but only with fish. For 13.00 I’d be willing to pay a little more to substitute the fish with a burger. Please consider making the chips an option without the fish. I tried the fish, and it was a little gamey, with a weird sweetness that was unsettling. I love your burgers.

Was in town for the weekend and on a Saturday late afternoon it was getting hard to find a restaurant with an open table. Saw a sandwich board and popped in with the family. It’s a small restaurant that is a little on the divey side but I suspect it’s an improvement over what resided previously — you can tell there was some effort made to spruce it up and they are almost there but still missing pieces e.g. the floors shouldn’t be so dirty that my shoes stick to the floor with each step… that is pretty divey. I hadn’t realized when going in but this is apparently a burger bar. The menu is pretty light otherwise and we weren’t in the mood for burgers; and they didn’t really have much for the kids. We ended up ordering several things — one of which was pretty good, one so-so, and the other pretty meh. Waitress was very friendly and helpful. Eureka is an enigma to me — I don’t know that I’ve had a really good meal in the town(or a good meal). Lots of pretty blah restaurants and I’m not sure why. My wife met us at the restaurant and her response to me when arriving was«this neighborhood is kind of a(word for not nice place)».

Great food… creative ingredients and superbly prepared but not trying too hard enough to get weird. Service very friendly and accommodated our kids easily. Atmosphere industrial yet welcoming and with the simple hanging of drapes along ceiling made communication comfortable. Will come again!

I have eaten here a couple of times now and each time something new. Each item has been consistently good. Today I had the bbq salad.

This place has the best burgers! I ordered the«basic» burger, ANDOHMYLAWD, soo good! I mean, if this basic burger tasted so good, can you imagine how the other not-so-basic burgers must taste?! Also, the servers were super friendly, quick, and attentive! Great food and great people, ya can’t beat that!

Fantastic burgers. Not a fan of the deep fried fish(–n-chips) batter, but the meat itself was great. Stay away from this place on Tuesdays. It’s half-off burger day(with purchase of a drink) and I don’t like the competition for a great deal. Truly, probably the best gourmet burger in Eureka right now with quality ingredients. One thing… stay away from the Habanero paste on the burger or fries unless you /really/like that chile… I couldn’t taste anything else for two days. Can’t say I wasn’t warned but heed my warning!(/me knocks off a few«man-points»)

Absolute best burger within 60 miles. I had the Hood, double patty, pepper bacon… Wow. I finished it in about four minutes. We’ll be back, for sure. Ann and kids loved there’s as well. This is a find. Get over here and grab a patty.

Ok– this place is awesome! We were hoping for a good meal while we were passing through, and we definitely got one! First off, the atmosphere is perfect– great industrial accents accompanied by warm wood and lighting. A pleasant and inviting surprise. Our server was great and made recommendations to the order that we had based upon her personal preference. I ordered the BBQ mango chicken salad which was fresh and hearty and my friend ordered the basic burger which was not basic at all! I love how the menu is simple and the food is anything but!

What an amazing dining experience! The food: –ceviche tacos with black beans(12.99) 5/5*: absolutely delectable. They give you the option of ceviche or battered fish inside the tacos, but I would definitely get ceviche. Citrus seafood goodness with a slaw and beautifully made black beans inside what appears to be a whole grain tortilla. The only thing I would change is the tortilla to a more traditional corn tortilla. –bacon and Bleu burger with sweet and spicy fries($ 5.49 + $ 2 for the dressed fries) 5/5*: finally… A burger worth the calories in Eureka. One of my biggest complaints was not being able to find a decent burger. I had tried all of the local favorites, with no luck. But this… This burger has a soft bun, great quality meat cooked perfectly with the right condiments(pickles, lettuce, sauce). IT’S HALFOFFBURGERSEVERYTUESDAY… Override regularly priced at $ 11 – 12. –draft beer(6r, mad river, etc) was $ 5.75 for a draft pint, which is a little above average pricing for Humboldt standards, but definitely worth it to wash the delicious burger and fries down with. –chocolate cake: big ass slice of cake for $ 7. Worth. It. Waitress challenged us to finish it, and we sure did. The environment: I felt like I was back in San Francisco. Clean & modern with a tall ceiling and open kitchen, it’s definitely a welcome sight after eating at homey looking restaurants for the past few weeks. The service: Excellent. The waitress was knowledgeable and I can tell that our experience and happiness was important to her. We didn’t feel pressured or rushed, but knew that she was available if we needed something. Keep up the great work! Overall: all in all, a fantastic dining experience. I’ll be telling all of my friends about this place. I haven’t felt compelled to write a review on a looooong time, but this place has brought it out of me. Will definitely be going back to try the oyster BLT and the lamb burger /mushroom & swiss!

The hardest thing in burger business, simply put, getting medium rare right. Well, it evades this new establishment too. Went there with 3 people, I got the Hood. A big double burger that had very little to offer in terms of being above average. The fries were poor at best. I’m not going back anytime soon, if ever. If there’s one thing Humboldt has, it’s bar food, and this is just another place trying to make a living serving it, with nothing new to distinguish themselves. The service though was excellent! That’s the star, wait let me add another just for that, the service was kind and on top of it! Great job! Food wise, you’re still in Humboldt where mediocre is the standard.

A cool little Burger bar with lots of good options for burgers and several other food choices as well. The place is not very big so we sat at the counter, there are a few tables and chairs. This place has an open kitchen so you can see the staff and watch as your food is being prepared. There are several local and regional beers on tap and in the bottle, and they also have a short wine list, along with other drink options. The fresh baked buns for their burgers are great, and they make some of the best onion rings we’ve ever had and just plain awesome. My wife had the bacon blue cheese burger, it looked great and she said it was delicious. I went for the spicy habenero cheeseburger with pepper jack and it was smoking hot, not over the top burn your face off but you definitely know you’ve eaten it when your done! The burger was cooked perfectly, juicy and quite tasty loaded with flavor — a great spicy burger. Again, the fresh baked buns are great. There are a few dessert choices and we opted for the carrot cake which is ridiculously good, a huge slice of cake and definitely enough to share. Our server Meegan who was working the bar on our visit was fun, engaging, professional and kind — she made us feel welcomed and appreciated, checked on us enough to not feel bothered or neglected — more like having a great burger and beer with a friend, we had a solid lunch. Note: Tuesdays are 2 for 1 burger night, for dine in only. A great deal. This is a great addition to the Eureka downtown old town food scene and well worth a visit. 4 Stars 321

Came here for my husbands birthday after hearing from 3 different(trustworthy) people that the place was good. It didn’t disappoint! I had the bacon blue burger. The bun was super yummy and they use good quality bacon AND blue cheese. That’s one of my favorite burgers and it’s in the top of the ones I’ve had-better than Shamus. He had the works burger with added fried jalapeños and unloved it as well. I got the onion rings, he for the bacon cheddar fries and we split them. Both SUPER yummy. Great prices and loved the interior. Tables, stools, bar, the walls. It’s a cool spot. Overall they did a great job from the look and atmosphere all the way to the food. We will definitely be back. The staff was friendly and attentive… and I could see into the kitchen and it was clean… even better :)

6th& E Street Eatery finally opened on Thursday Serving dinner til 10 we walked in last night about 8pm to a fabulous singer/guitarist & a warm welcome from Megan behind the bar. The printed menus were very hard to read, but the concept was simple ~ tasty appetizers at a fair price Juicy burgers with house made buns, 3 choices of dinner salads, chicken dinner, steak dinner~ fish & chips($ 13.99). Megan was super friendly and let us know she was passionate about this place. Turns out, she has worked for the owner while she owned a restaurant in Redding.(Humboldt Soup Kitchen is the owner’s first place in Eureka). We were happy to have stopped in at it’s start. Welcome to the neighborhood, guys!
