We went here because of the great drink prices. I had a dirty martini. It was delicious and the server was really, really awesome! She was friendly and helpful with the menu. I have a dairy allergy and she worked with me to make sure I had an entrée that would be excellent without dairy in it. First we had the Bruschetta. It came in a huge martini glass and it was beautiful and tasted even better. Because I couldn’t eat the bread she brought out tortilla chips. For my entrée I picked the ahi tuna salad. It was excellent — the veggies were all fresh and crisp and the ahi tuna was seared perfectly with the right amount of sauce. I think that it was even better than I thought because this was clearly a great bar for young people as it was very close to the Northwestern University campus and had different deals each night. We sat inside but they have a great outdoor patio, too!

Bar louie evanston the best ! I used to live in Evanston and always stopped by. There food here is by far the best out of all the other bar Louie’s in the area They have great specials on beer too. Plus if you go around happy hour between 4 and 7. The apps are cheaper and they have dollar beer night too Ryan the assistant manager always gives great service. Stop by you won’t regret it.

Live nearby in downtown Evanston and visit this location regularly(1 – 2 times per month at least). Food is good(including some great specials, like $ 1 burgers on Tuesdays), and a good beer selection, and the staff is great(honestly, one of the main reasons we keep coming)…very friendly, even on nights when the place is jam packed. We have a great time every time. Highly recommend.

This place is full of attitude, almost all bad. Our server seemed constantly busy, but never with us. When we did manage to get her attention she was curt and impatient, more than once her rush to move on to the next person forced us to call her back again to complete our order. The idea of asking if we wanted refills or, Heaven forbid, to order food, never seemed to cross her mind. My beer was flat and seemed watered down. I told the bartender. He disagreed, but gave me a different one, which was also flat. The restaurant’s location and environment are very nice and I have gone there a number of times over the years. It’s really a shame when people you know act otherwise and treat you as if you are an intrusion rather than a valued customer.

I’m a native of Evanston, but last night was my 1st time checking out this location. Could potentially be my last. There are better and bigger locations outside the neighborhood. This past Thurs and Friday they had a promo going for $ 2 martinis, beer specials and $ 1 burgers. Of course such promos are going to bring in more business than usual. That being said it was almost like they didn’t prepare for the crowds and the server we had was awful. I get it you’re swamped but her attitude sucked. If she didn’t want to deal with work and customers she prob should’ve called off. If anything she should’ve had her game face on to monopolize off the crowd. People in the service industry complain about wages and tips but many don’t put in the work or have the attitude that would warrant other hard working patrons to give them a tip which is really optional. Why should anyone feel compelled to give extra money for bad attitudes and service?! Moral of the story… promo or not I’m likely not to frequent this location because I refuse to deal with anyone’s sucky attitude or them taking their issues out on me and I’m a paying customer. You’re not doing me a favor by taking my money. I’m doing you a favor by giving the establishment business which in turn keeps you employed.

Been coming here for years with a group of friends. Good food. Good service. Great prices. Dollar burgers on Tuesday are incredible, as is half off appetizers between 4 and 7! Ordered a great quesadilla for $ 5!!! Pretty unbelievable. No, it’s not the best or most unique food ever, but pretty dang good especially for the price!

Throughout our many years visiting this Evanston location we’ve enjoyed consistently very good quality, creative bar food served quickly, both indoors and out. As of 02.15.2016 Henry is our star server: capable, professional, checks back regularly, good humoured and an all around pleasure. Daily food and drink specials. Check their website. Tuesday is dollar burger night and they’re often packed with students from nearby Northwestern University. ~Peter O. and S.

I am part of a bridal party and we happened to stop by Bar Louie in Evanston randomly after shopping at Avail & Company Bridal. There were six of us in the group and we were able to sit down, order, and be served fairly quickly. Negatives: The calamari appetizer was chewy and underwhelming. I was also not a huge fan of their«Louie’s Sangria». For being named after the restaurant, I expected it to wow me and be a delicious wine blend, but it left me wishing I had just ordered a glass of wine. Positives: I ordered the sesame encrusted ahi tuna and everything on the plate was delicious! I NEVER finish a plate, especially one this big, but if it hadn’t been for the rest of the group I probably would have considered licking my plate clean. I ordered mine medium-rare, but if(I mean when) I go back I’ll definitely order rare instead. My biggest problem is now that I’ve tried this delicious ahi tuna meal, I’ll never be able to go to a Bar Louie and order anything else. I guess there could be worse things…

$ 1.25 cold drafts on Wednesdays. But they’re only selected bottled ones, so you have to ask which ones. The waitress didn’t tell us our beers weren’t the $ 1.25 ones until after she brought them out… The strawberry lemonade sangria is really good. I couldn’t taste the alcohol at all. You get the sangrias in pitchers for $ 20. A single pitcher can serve up to 4 people. Overall, average.

It should be called Bar Lousy! Food and drinks are very overpriced and the food is mediocre at best! Went tonight because we wanted to sit outside but will not be returning!

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Drinks were horrid, and not well prepared. Service was nonexistent and, when we received an iota of attention, it was indifferent. Being that it was essentially empty on a Saturday, you would think service would be at least average. Very disappointing. Chips and dip… they took the dips straight out of Tostidos jars. Chips were stale. «Queso» was probably the best dip and that was definitely out of a jar. Guac had no effort put into it — you can taste when guac is made in-house. This was probably purchases from the nearby convenience store. For two drinks and chips, we were just robbed of $ 30. Super surprising, considering previous above average experiences.

Went for half priced apps tonight. Not all apps are avbl. Limited list but I had the chips and 3 dips and veggie flatbread. All were great! 20ozbeers were around 7 $. Overpriced.

This is a perfectly nice place to meet in perfectly nice Evanston, for a perfectly nice drink or some perfectly nice food. It’s not exceptional, but it doesn’t suck at all either. It’s open late and has an outdoor space. Glasses of wine are a generously poured by cheerful waitresses. If you find yourself in Evanston, latenight, check it out!

Was surprised to find that at 10pm on a monday night, this is one of the few places open that is still serving food in evanston — what what?! I felt the prices were on the high end for the most part and since it was late, opted for a veggie wrap. Was I overwhelmed by the food? No. Was I glad to have the food option? Yes. Thx for meeting my late night needs BL.

My boyfriend and I had their loaded tots and chicken quesadilla. The quesadilla was great, but the«loaded» tots were not loaded at all. It actually should have been called sprinkled tots. Drink menu has a large variety, we ordered a long island and blue moon. Nothing to complain about there. It was just the service that got to me… when we entered we weren’t greeted or hosted, so we found ourselves a table, and it took about 10 minutes before a waitress showed up, and she was also MIA most of the time. It took about 25 minutes for us to ask for a check even after we were done with our food.

My appetizer — the beer braised mussels — was horrendous. It was bathing in a salty, oily giardiniera sauce. Who cooks mussels with giardiniera? Once I realized I was drinking the butter oil sauce, I stopped. Ugh. I was very disappointed. Wouldn’t order again. Also… my waitress was MIA most of the time.
