Great food! Unique menu and personal atmosphere. We have eaten breakfast, lunch, and dinner here and can’t complain.

First time stopped by local business in Evanston for breakfast and it was delicious yogurt with fruits and granola. It was busy on Sunday morning but we were at the bar comfortable. Tea was very good too!

I come here for lunch or brunch 5 – 6 times a year. It’s close to my work, for lunches, but it’s gets pretty busy so we don’t come here tooo often, I usually opt for brunch on Sat or Sun, which can also get crowded, but usually not hard to get seated if it’s just 2 – 3 people. Definitely opt for their apricot pastry — it’s worth the extra 25 cents or whatever. I have gotten several different omelettes there — they have a good variety of ingredients, I’ve always loved them. I’ve also ordered a few different salads as well as their portabella burger which is heaven. Their pumpkin soup is amazing. Okay, pretty much everything is amazing. The staff are always friendly and funny. The seating can be a little tight, and sometimes you are pretty close to the people next to you and it’s hard to hear when conversing. But it’s a great place, with a fun artsy atmosphere. And their recent remodeling has made the place a bit more spacious. 5 stars!

The remodeled restaurant(now with a bar!) looks much better than the first incarnation. At the bar you can get cheap, decent mixed drinks, wine, and beer. As for the restaurant portion, in my experience, the food is usually okay and occasionally good. I have generally liked the dinner options(burgers, fish, etc) more than brunch ones(omelettes, pancakes, french toast, etc.). Service is usually good. Metered street parking is available in front of the restaurant, but those spots are rarely free, so you’re better off parking in a metered public parking lot located on Main St. between Sherman and Custer Ave., and then walking over.

Why do I keep coming back to this place? The service is just awful! Not even five tables seated around us and it takes a whole 10 minutes for someone to even come to our table so that we can order coffee. Our server was obviously busy making coffee drinks and the two other servers who were doing almost nothing, refused to even look at us. This happens every time I come here. Again, every time I come here I ask myself the same thing…“why did we come back here again?”

I adore Lucky Platter. I’ve had nothing but friendly, terrific service here. The décor is delightful. The food has personality. I’m a huge fan of the Tandoori Chicken sandwich and the Chicken Pot Pie. I do wish they’d have specials or rotate their menu a bit more. I’d love to try different things as often as I return(especially different soups!)… but I love my favorites so much that I guess I don’t mind.

Finally had a chance to come back for brunch, and it was as delicious as expected! I ordered the«classic» eggs Benedict — two poached eggs with hollandaise, served atop honey baked ham and toasted cornbread. That’s right, instead of a typical English muffin biscuit, the Lucky Platter serves their eggs Benedict with their house-made cornbread. Different, but YUM! We also tried the apricot cheese flaky that everyone raves about. It was rich and sweet and served warm and was the perfect ending to our meal. Be prepared for a wait, though. We showed up at 10:30 on a Sunday and the wait was 25 minutes for the two of us.(We opted to sit at the bar.)

Been going to Lucky Platter since moving to Evanston like 5 years ago. Everything I’ve had is terrific, from the BBQ salmon, to the stroganoff, to the chicken pot pie. Brunch is great too, esp their specialty French toast. The prices are reasonable. Good drink and desert selection. The service has always been good too, think some folks are just picky on here! My only complaint regarding the ownership transition which also comes up in reviews is the lack of specials. Under the previous owner, Eric Singer, they had a lot more specials, basically a special soup each month in winter, and always a special entrée or two and a desert. The last couple times I’ve been in there have been none or at least no one has told me or showed me that insert page. Love the mainstays but you chef has skills so display em!

Went there and grabbed a coffee,& got the huevos rancheros. It was good, decent portion and coffee was good also! Service was great also! I wish it came with more tortillas lol but it’s really not that big of a deal! I will be back.

Cute new bar alert! Yet another interior update since my last visit. Walk in, head straight back, and you’ll find a neon lit hipster bar in the back corner. The cool thing about this bar is the fact that its shelves are adored with Evanston’s local spirits and brews, including FEW and Sketchbook. Stopped in for a lunch meeting and ordered up the chicken pot pie and a side of sweet potato fries. The pie was super thick, loaded with chicken, and had a kick of spice that I just couldn’t seem to figure out. In fact there were so many flavors going on it was like a spice party in my mouth. The fries were super skinny and totally unexpected in a good way — not your typical soft and orange potato. The iced tea I had was fantastic. It was unsweetened and had a hint of something… almost a smoky flavor. My lunch experience overall was an infusion of flavors. Some I liked and others that might have been a bit too much. My dining partner ordered up a black bean burger. Though I didn’t try a bite, it was gorgeous and ginormous. Fun lighting and artwork hanging from the ceiling. Lots to scope out while dining. Friendly staff.

Can’t believe I’ve lived in Evanston for four years and have just found this place. The omlette and apricot flaky were absolutely scrumptious. The food was decently portioned, just enough. I loved the interior – it has a really fun and cozy vibe. Be prepared however to wait in line for brunch on the weekends! My friend waited for about 15 or so minutes to be seated. We got there around 10:30. It was pretty busy and crowded. Wish we could’ve gotten a table further away from the door.
