I love this store! Huge selection of yarns and supplies, and the most helpful staff around. They make recommendations on patterns, offer tips on patterns, and are just all around wonderful! I love going here to get everything I need for my projects!

I had a heart-attack when I drove by and you were. gone! Lucy and Glenda are as good as it gets and I’m so happy you just moved and aren’t gone from my life. I can’t wait until I get some time to drop by. You guys are the best.

Love this store. My mother taught me to knit when I was a wee lad, and now thirty-five years later, I’ve picked it up again. I’m taking a class at Close Knit, and my partner and I buy our yarns here. The staff is very helpful, and we are amazed that every time we go in this store they have customers. The yarn selection is huge. The yarn can get a little pricey, but it’s a much higher quality yarn than the crap you would find at Michael’s or JoAnne Fabrics.

Great little store. I try to stop in whenever I’m in Evanston. The yarn selection is amazing for such a small shop, and there’s great variety. Plus — kudos for being crochet-friendly. I always appreciate that. The staff is friendly and helpful, and I’ve never yet managed to escape without at least one new purchase. :o)

I love this store and the owner. She’s the most amazing knitting/crochet instructor and I love the yarn selections. It’s a small boutique location. Everything you’d ever want in a knit shop… cozy!

If you’re a Sock-star, Closeknit is the place for you. If you’re an aspiring Sockstar, check it out. Closeknit has the best variety of sock yarns I’ve seen so far in North-Chicago LYS. Staff are knowledgeable good at suggesting substitute yarns and friendly, though at times I felt as though she was following me around the tiny store. Selection is great for socks and generally ok for other projects. If you like to browse on your own or by color, I’d suggest Arcadia, which incidentally isn’t as good for sock yarns. Closeknit is now located on Davis just east of Chicago Ave. This is also a tiny location.

As a new knitter, a trip to the yarn shop can be intimidating and exciting all at once. I was a bit overwhelmed in this cozy little nook because it had A LOT packed into it. I found a beautiful«twinkle» yarn in a plum shade, and the sales person helped me start my project!

I’ve been here twice, I try to stop by whenever I find myself up in Evanston. It’s a tiny little cozy place, where I find the softest, most luxurious yarns. I love to get yarn for making gifts here. The employees are very helpful, there is generally only one person working and they are nice despite having to help customers, ring up items and help those in the back room trying to learn a new technique. I love their honesty and help on figuring out how to do something, or how much yarn I’ll need, or helping me find a cheaper pattern. The yarn is on the pricey side, so I wouldn’t recommend making an afghan out of the yarn here, but it’s nicer then the name brand stuff you can pick up at joann’s.

I stopped by here on my way to CVS. Specifically, I was on the hunt for Mukluks(knit boots with leather soles that I love to wear to warm up for dance). Alas, they don’t have any, which figures cuz I can’t seem to find them anywhere except eBay. Aside from not carrying what I was hoping to find, the store is very cute, and I was immediately greeted and helped even though there were other customers in the store. It appears as though they have a cute little area in the back to get work done. They also have a nice selection of colorful yarns — I was very tempted to look around and purchase something, but considering I’ve been working on the same scarf since last fall, I don’t need to be buying new yarn quite yet. If and when I finish my scarf(or feel the need to knit myself some mukluks, which the employee jokingly suggested I could try), I’ll come here to purchase my yarn. And sidenote: if anyone knows anywhere in the area I can buy mukluks, please let me know.

This is a very cute store with a very helpful owner. Although there is a small selection of yarns. She had a wonderful collection of organic and cotton yarns for the summer. She has handspun yarns as well from locals. This store has a cozy atomosphere where you can sit down and figure out a project. It is a cute store.
