My family of four went to Epic Burger for the first time a few weeks ago. My initial impressions were very favorable. I liked the clean, open space and design, and really appreciated the«build a burger» approach of picking bread, meat, cheese, condiments, etc. Everyone can get exactly what they want. We had one turkey burger, one chicken burger, and two beef burgers. The chicken and beef were devoured and enjoyed, but my turkey burger was excessively salty. Maybe this is because turkey is so bland and requires so much seasoning? I ate about half of it. Regardless, there are plenty of other combinations of meats that I’ll definitely go back to Epic again; everything else, including the service, was a very good experience.

This is a great place to grab a quick meal, wether you’re looking for something a little on the healthy side or just ready to indulge. The place is clean and bright and while there are plenty of tables does not feel cramped. They not only have their menu up on the wall but also in paper form which for someone like me who has a vision impairment is very helpful as it makes ordering much easier. Additionally the lady at the register is super friendly and does not rush you at all. Now on to the food. They have several different types of burgers. All beef, Turkey, and chicken, their shakes come in a skinny form as well as regular and they also have whole wheat buns as an option so you can be as healthy or unhealthy as you like. By the way their skinny peanut butter shake is awesome, you can actually taste the peanut butter. They not only have traditional toppings for their burgers but some creative ones too. I’ve never heard of horseradish cheese before but let me tell you it’s good! You can also get your burger topped with avocado, bacon or eggs along with the more traditional onions lettuce and tomato. The fries are thick and soft too which I prefer. Also on the tables along with ketchup they have spicy dijon mustard which was delicious on my fries and I have to say I like that they have that verses regular mustard it’s just another little thing that sets them apart. I believe they also have a simple salad, and along with shakes a verity of drinks so really pretty much everyone is covered. All in all it’s a nice option to the question of what’s for lunch.

Epic Burger lives up to its name! My fiancé and I were having major cravings for a filling, juicy burger and we are very happy we stopped at Epic Burger. I ordered a double beef(which is not 2x patties, just a larger patty) with a wheat bun, horseradish harvati, fried egg, lettuce, pickles and Epic Sauce. The plated burger and fries was a sight to behold! The bun was light, fresh and well toasted, providing a satisfying crunch near the edges. The meat was juicy, perfectly seasoned and was seared so nicely that its edges also had a satisfying crunch. Honestly the bun and burger alone would have been satisfying. Yet also piled on top was a well-cooked egg, havarti(whose horseradish flavors made random, welcome appearances), hearty pieces of fresh lettuce and delicious pickle strips. The Epic Sauce is tasty and a nice mix of condiments, much more than the typical ‘special sauce’. Together it was a true burger experience, bring on the napkins! The fries were a nice thickness with great flavor and texture. A great compliment but also delicious on their own(also kudos for having malt vinegar available). My only recommendation for my burger experience would be a more robust bun that could support the massive burger and toppings. The juicyness of my creation quickly overpowered the light wheat bun and had me holding a beautiful mess. Still, not enough to overpower the general Epicness. The joint in Evanston is in a prime, walkable location with ample seating. The staff was really helpful and amiable. I welcome Epic Burger’s advertising of a more ‘mindful’ burger and the specific experience they offer. The flavor/textures are definitely mindfully created but I pay close attention to those establishments that are also mindful of their impact and their supply chains. Can’t wait to return!

Came here for their dillo day discount — it’s interesting how they have mushroom as an option for the«protein» in the burger, but I still was reluctant to try haha. I ordered a classic beef burger with extra avocado and loved it! It is very oily though. Probably won’t come here again unless I really feel like having a huge burger.

Good, tasty burgers, fresh ingredients, and conveniently located. But, I think the staff needs to listen a little better during orders. I’ve gone a few times since this location opened and nearly every time, something is missing from my order which I asked for — one time, I said all toppings except onions. I get no toppings except cheese. Another time the Epic sauce was missing. Today they left off the bacon. Thankfully, I dined in and was able to get that rectified. I’m hoping they operate more smoothly as time goes on.

Service is friendly and fast. Burgers are pretty good. Burger size is decent, a little bigger than Shake Shack burgers for around the same price. But definitely not as big or fancy or yummy as Au Cheval’s. The way pricing works is kind of weird. There’s a base price for each burger of around $ 6. Eggs are $ 0.99 extra, which I think, though not preferred, is acceptable. What’s strange is that cheese are also $ 0.99 extra. I’ve never been to a place where I had to pay extra for cheese. The other toppings, such as lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles are all free. Since I came here for a special Dillo deal($ 4 for base burgers), I thought was pretty good. But I probably won’t come back for the normal prices.

Pretty good taate, but ridiculously overpriced. The base price for a burger is $ 6.29, and each topping you add will increase the amount you pay by a good deal. You will end up paying around $ 10 for a burger that is honestly not that filling. I only came here because they had a good deal for Dillo Day, and would probably not want to come back here to pay the full price. Service is good, and the tables are clean. I’ll give it that!

I love this place! Great food, awesome service! I’m on a strict diet right now and the dude behind the counter handed me his computer to check calories on the website! Full service! I got the chicken sandwich and it was so good… I wanted 2 but I can’t have 2! Lol Highly recommend!

The burger here is just slightly better than a Whopper in BK but cost you much more, 11bucks. The taste is OK, but frankly speaking, I’d rather buy 2 whoppers. You can customize you burger but sadly there isn’t many options and they are so common. The reason to do that is to make it not that cheap, I guess. I had to pay more for customizing a burger just with steak, tomato, cheese, bacon and avocado. Are y’all kidding? Most of them are so basic for a burger. It’s the same thing to order a cheeseburger with avocado. I’m not saying that it doesn’t taste good but definitely not worth the price. I start to miss my DMK, also 10 bucks around just for a burger but they made it so special, such as lamb burger with vege and housemade sauce, and there are over 10 options of burgers for totally different tastes. Back to Epic Burger, The staff are friendly and the environment is clean, that might be a merit. Food, 3⁄5 Price, 2⁄5 Environment, 4⁄5

Burgers and fries tastes awesome! One of the best burger places you can go to. But, it is a bit more expansive than other places. Since it costs more, you might think its healthy, as they proclaim to use humanely raised beefs. One tiny problem… is that they have Trans Fat. I wish they could get rid of Trans Fat and stop clogging up my arteries. Once they actually remove Trans Fat, I’ll give them a 5!

My daughter and I stopped in this afternoon as we were taking a stroll through Evanston and were very pleased with our decision to try a new place. We both had the double burgers, fries, and fountain drinks and were really glad we chose the doubles since the burgers are very thin. Don’t confuse that as meaning anything was wrong with the burgers because they were amazingly delish! We just were really glad to have the doubles so we had enough burger to enjoy with all the other great toppings we chose. I had the blue cheese and my daughter had the horse radish. We left feeling satisfied and stayed that way until bed time. The food was very fresh and extremely well-prepared. Our cashier was über cool with great eyes and long dreads. Very friendly and with great customer service talents! We will definitely be back!

Awesome burger joint. Glad it came to Evanston. I had the classic burger with an egg(recommend the egg!). Burger: Very Good. Ingredients were very fresh. I really like the grill onions. The cuts are quite big but I sorta liked it. Best part — is the toasted bottom bun. Most places«toast» their buns, but Epic Burger’s is very well done. It gives you this extra crisp for each bite. The patty is a good size that also has a solid sear on it. Milk Shake: Strawberry is very good. Very thick and tasty. Straw could be a bit larger so I don’t tire myself after the shake. I tried the peanut button and chocolate — good too! Service: The fried egg comes either runny or firm. I ordered runny but it came out firm(both me and my friend). The staff was did offer to take it back but her attitude was alright. The owner/manager came out and apologized and gave us a coupon as well. I generally don’t complain but felt a bit brave that day — i thought it was handled pretty well. I feel the owner/manager is very serious about doing well in Evanston and made the effort to do so. Will definitely come back!

Good burgers with an interesting concept of being organic and mindful. A little expensive but comparable to five guys in pricing.

Pretty good but pricey. Haven’t seen a fast burger joint offer grounded turkey patties but they do! Ordered one and thought it was good. The burger was hard for me to dissect though, ended making a mess. They have add ons like avocados, egg, etc. each for extra dollar(which really adds up) and some freebies. The space is very open and clean, but slightly cold.

New epic burger in Evanston. The closest one is in old orchard so I’m glad there is one in Evanston now. The food is very delicious without a question. But I loved the service more. They had gotten my order wrong and was more than happy to fix it, but I didn’t mind. I love that more and more places are opening up in Evanston!

Shiw: Shiw and Dou here, reviewing the newly opened Epic Burger here in Evanston! Dou: So I’m crazy about burgers, and I think this burger is definitely solid enough. While I feel like it’s probably not as good as the usual premium burger chains(Shake Shack, Five Guys, In-n-Out, etc.), I would probably say its at least the same league, but probably at the bottom Shiw: We ordered the Epic Burger with fries and an egg added in. I got the milkshake. The burger was pretty decent — the egg was a perfect addition, yolk was runny and very delicious. My only nit was that the bun seemed a bit too big — we both had a lot of leftover bun with no burger patty remaining at some point. Fries were ok — nothing really special about them. Same with the shake. Dou: Yeah I’d say that while Epic Burger quality-of-food-wise is probably below some of the other burger guys, its definitely higher in terms of value. So for the $ 9.99 combo the burger is probably bigger than what you’d get elsewhere. So while something like Five Guys does taste better(in my opinion, anyways) a meal at Five Guys can get to around $ 15 bucks if you get the fries and drink. Vile sorcery! Shiw: Lol I think that’s just called«math»…but yeah, probably three stars for the food, but four stars for the value. Dou: Thanks for reading!

The overall experience was ok. I went with a group of friends who wanted to check out this new place. The service was good — the staff made sure to explain about the menu and treated us great. Regarding the food we had mixed opinions — some of us liked the burgers but for some of us they were too oily. They put butter on the bun, which I hate because if the meat is good you don’t really need any additions, but they don’t tell you this. Luckily we had that information from a friend who knows this chain, and so we just asked them not to add any butter. Even without it, the burger was oily, but tasted pretty good. We also ordered milkshakes which were very challenging, as the straws were too thin and so it was really hard to drink. Epic — Please replace the straws! We will not suck it up!

Epic Burger just opened where lululemon used to be, right next to L.A. Fitness. It’s a nice, large location, with plenty of seating. This is the place to go if you want to eat a burger and still feel kind of healthy–«A More Mindful Burger». It’s a «build your own» burger kind of place. 1. You pick your meat– Epic Burger(beef) or Turkey burger(junior $ 5.29, classic $ 6.29, double $ 7.79), chicken sandwich($ 6.29) or portobello sandwich($ 6.29). These all have no antibiotics and are humanely raised. 2. Pick your bread– white or wheat(locally baked) or bunless(lettuce) 3. Add cheese for $.99– aged cheddar, premium blue, or horseradish havarti 4. Add extras: avocado($ 1.29), bacon($ 1.49), fried egg($.99) 5. Add free toppings: grilled onions, raw onions, lettuce, tomato, pickles, epic sauce 6. Add fries($ 2.49) or a simple side salad with balsamic vinaigrette($ 2.49) 7. Add drinks– premium and skinny shakes($ 3.99) — vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, peanut butter, malts, bottled($ 2.69), fountain($ 2.19) OR make it a combo with any classic burger or sandwich with fries or a side salad– fountain drink combo($ 9.99), Bottled drink combo($ 10.69), shake or malt combo($ 11.99) The burgers were pretty good. I got the epic burger with horseradish havarti. It’s a pretty decent price unless you want to add on extras, then it can really get expensive rather quickly. Quality is definitely better than other budget burger places, and you won’t feel gross afterwards. It’s not greasy, and tastes very fresh. Make sure you try the epic sauce! I wouldn’t really recommend the fries, they’re nothing special. Also, they don’t have sweet potato fries. The strawberry shake was okay, but didn’t really feel like it was very good value. Personally, I would just go for a burger and get the extra toppings instead of getting fries and a drink! Service was outstanding. They were friendly, helpful, and very courteous. Our waitress/cashier checked on us multiple times throughout our meal and we felt taken care of! If you are a Northwestern student, make sure you show your wildcard for 10% off. Definitely give this new burger joint a try!
