Edzo’s is definitely one of my favorite places for food in Evanston. The burgers are always juicy and delicious. I always add a fried egg to my burger and it really just kicks it up a notch. The different varieties of fries are all so good. I’ve never had a bad fry at Edzo’s. I’ve had the loaded fries, truffle fries, and cheese fries but the truffle fries by far were the best. My all time favorite though is the Oreo milkshake. It is SO delicious and I cannot say enough good things about it. If you’re in Evanston, I would definitely recommend going to Edzo’s for some cheap and tasty food.

Throw back kind of greasy burger joint. Great flavors fresh fries when it’s 1 degree they could turn a heater on. Everyone inside kept their jackets on. Double burger came without the extras I ordered but they fixed it fast. Happened to others too, their system breaks down when busy. If you like a fresh greasy place this is it.

Let me preface by saying that I stopped here for my first time after having drinks at Bangers & Lace down the street. I ordered a Maxwell, Char Burger and Loaded Fries, yes Im on a diet. The only thing that I cared for was the Loaded Fries aka the Heart Stopper! Who else would put Sour Cream, Bacon Bits, and Cheese/Chives on top of Fried carbs? Delicious but pricey at $ 5.50! I didn’t care for the Maxwell or Char Burger. Maybe I should have ordered the Griddled Burger, Patty Melt and Char Dog. I prefer the Burger and Maxwell better at Portillos! This place is pretty overpriced. They have a pretty wide variety of selection when choosing which style of french fries you are craving at that time, but again the prices are pretty high compared to other places. They do have a nice shake selection but I wasnt able to try at this time. Shake and Beer dont mix for me! I would give this place another try, I see a Patty Melt, Char Dog, Loaded Fries and Strawberry Shake in my future. Save up because this meal probably will cost around $ 25! I should have went to Mustard’s Last Stand or a slice at Gigios Pizza!

Edzo’s was a great find & It’s located in downtown Evanston with plenty of parking around the area. I ordered the same style burger & fries the 3 times I’ve came. My boyfriend on the other hand is always adventurous. I get the 4 oz. griddled burger w/pepper jack cheese, bacon, lettuce, onion & tomato cooked medium well. The second time I came & ordered it the same way, they burnt it to crisps. The owner saw how unhappy I was & brought me a fresh new burger not burnt & medium well the way it was suppose to be. He apologized & said«anytime.» That’s great customer service! My boyfriend’s sheboygan brat was actually really good. He was a bit skeptical of ordering it since they’re mainly known for burgers but I was wow’d from a few bites. Juicy, tender, and just the right amount of toppings. I’ve tried the garlic fries & my fav, the truffle fries. The portions are fair but I could eat two orders in one sitting, they’re that good. Overall a bit pricey but flavor wise is worth it to me.

I do love this place. Whenever I go, it’s always busy, and, sometimes, the service can be inconsistent. That’s fine though. Everyone is nice. Hard to find a seat if you are eating there. The burgers are delicious, and the fries are tasty. I’m not so much a fan of their truffle fries. Sometimes, the fries come out a little on the dry side, but, most of the time, they are great. For the price, it’s a bit on the expensive side for a fast food place.

Came here for some famous burgers and fries and I gotta say… it comes through on half of that promise. Ordered a single charburger with everything, and pepperjack, as well as an order of loaded fries. The burger itself, it was made to order and it didn’t taste bad, but it was nothing phenomenal and was also a bit pricey given how large the burger actually was. I mean, a single 4 oz. patty with ketchup, onion, and cheese runs $ 5 – 6 after tax, which is steep considering I can get one twice as large at many other places, and for the same price. Nothing special on that front. The fries though… these fries were pretty great. A sizeable portion that was a little bit ambitious on my own to finish, but they were made crispy and hot, straight to order, and tossed so that the toppings were fairly evenly distributed across all the fries. Very generous with the cheese, bacon, scallions, and sour cream that I had on my fries, and very satisfied with the way they treat their potatoes. In conclusion, Edzo’s burger shop should really be renamed Edzo’s fry shop, because if I head there next that’s the only thing I’ll be ordering.

I called in an order for my coworkers and I, 6 people, all paying separately. I started the call stating this and immediately the man said«hold on», slammed the phone down, and started cussing in the background about the *f@#cking 6 separate orders”, leaving me to listen to his rant for a whole 2 minutes. When he came back I calmly told him he forgot to put me on hold before going on his rant then gave him my orders. I was very nice to him the whole time. When I got there, it was relatively busy for 12 pm, not slammed, but I walked up and started paying each order. There was a guy standing behind the rep collecting my payment who was on the phone. His name was Justin which I know because he was speaking very nastily to a person on the phone and to whom he also pulled the phone away from his mouth to cuss(in front of all the people in the store). I noticed the name on my receipts was Justin. When the rep mentioned that I should take a frequent buyers card I politely told him I wouldn’t be coming back and he asked why. When I said«You weren’t the one to take my order on the phone, were you?» he just slyly smirked and said«no». I responded«no, you weren’t, it was Justin, the same nasty man who was just talking on the phone». I then noticed Justin at the other end of the kitchen carefully watching me. Justin, I hope you caught the wink I threw you because I knew who you were. And you knew I knew.

I had given Edzo’s 4 stars(and not 5) on my previous review primarily because I thought it was a little expensive. After my most recent visit, I decided that their prices don’t matter because their food is so damn good! This time I went with the whole shabang: double griddle burger with all the fixings, crazy fry(chili, cheese and onions), and a pumpkin pie shake. SOMUCHFOOD. And I finished it all. You can definitely split the specialty fries, as they’re enormous. Everything tasted great! I was incredibly satisfied after my meal. Be prepared to wait during peak hours but Edzo’s is a must stop in Evanston for burger fanatics and friends alike!

Lots of great ideas poorly executed I stopped in before a doctor’s appointment and was expecting so much more than I received. I thought I’d get a fantastic burger, but frankly it was average. It wasn’t bad, it was average. For the above average price, I was expecting more. They have a fantastic idea for their flavored fries. They make them fresh and then toss them in a sauce of butter and whatever seasoning you choose from the menu. Two notables were truffle oil and garlic. I had the garlic fries. They were a bit too greasy, too soggy, and what made them inedible too salty. The first few bites were good, but inedible after that. If it were more reasonably priced, I would give it another star, it would be average… Again, great ideas, poorly executed. Oh…get this. They have a sign that won’t let you go for a refill from the soda machine! I of course ignored it. But how ridiculously stupid. I won’t ever be going back.

Back when I was at Northwestern and this burger shop opened it became a staple. Honestly there’s nothing special about their burgers, but their french fries and milkshakes are great(most of the time I just ordered fries and a shake and pass on the burger). It’s been a few years since I was a regular, but on my most recent visit this past weekend I ordered a Char Burger, small fries and a Nutella shake. Not much has changed since I was last here. There are a few more shake options on the menu, the burgers are still just okay, but the fries and shakes(which are huge) are still excellent.

Outstanding. My girlfriend and I go here any time we want a treat. Eddie(the owner) left MK downtown and wanted to take all of his culinary knowledge and put that into the science making the perfect burger and fries. He and his team nailed it. I typically have their garlic fries(which are also good to share with your significant other). However, we decided to try their special that day. Lobster fries. *Spectacular*! I’m still pining for more, but we’ll be back sooner rather than later. Lobster. Fries. Omg.

Perfect comfort food. I loved my straightforward burger and garlic butter fries. Extra buttery! My partner loved his burger and buffalo fries! Yum! And we got there before a line developed! Lucky us!

When you talk about creativity in putting together burgers, Edzo’s is the place to go. But on my last two trips, I was wondering if maybe quality has gone down. I got the Lollapalooza burger and five onion fries twice within a week. The fries were amazing with fried leeks, a french onion dip inspired creamy sauce drizzled on top. But the patty on the burger today was pretty smushed and dry(as was the last time) and definitely not juicy and it looked like burger was just slopped together without much care. And the bun was kind of stale and not soft. On my last visit, I sat near the front and there were so many flies. I wanted to take a fly swatter and get rid of them, but today I was relieved that they was noticeably less present. On the days that I’ve been there when the owner was present, I felt like the quality was much higher. Perhaps a fluke, but hopefully on my next visit, it’ll be a similar experience to the first time that I went.

Do you like greasy overcooked burgers that crunch when you bite into them? What about soggy BURNT garlic fries that will leave you with death breath for days? How about lobster fries that come with exactly one shred of lobster and a strand of hair? Watery milk shakes? Sticky chairs and a dirty floor? Yes, you say? Then step right in to this shit shack! Don’t forget to bring your wallet because this shit is gonna cost you! Two burgers, two fries, and two milk shakes will run you just north of $ 45, FORTYFIVEDOLLARS! P. S. Don’t let the double double animal style burger fool you, there ain’t nothing about that thing that will taste like In N Out.

I rarely go to Edzo’s simply because Evanston is so far away but I decided to venture up here by bike on my day off. That being sad I had a great experience here. I eneded up creating my own version of a surf and turf by combining a double cheese burger with some of their lobster fries. The lobster fries were fantastic. The dish is super rich but you get a certian amount of brightness by way of the lemon aoili. It aslo complements the lobster very well. It’s probably the best excuse ever to eat a dish as decadent as french fries covered in mayo toped with lobster and butter. As for the burger itself, it was fine. If you ask me if the burger is worth the journey from the city, I would have to say no. At the same time if you’re in the area, you would be remiss to not stop here.

This place popped up on the eater 38 and I fancy myself a burger lovin dude so naturally, I took a trip to Evanston. This place is right in the middle of downtown evanston so pretty convenient if you are a student of the nearby university. The menu is pretty simple when it comes to the burgers. You can get a single double or triple or go with the double size 8oz patty. They also have meat upgrades for $ 3 per burger, I’m a sucker for those and I’ll tell you it was worth it. Maybe it was placebo but the dry aged beef upgrade really brings out a beefy flavor I don’t get with most burgers. The burgers are cooked on the griddle so you get that nice char on all the edges as it hangs off the bun just a little bit. I definitely got my burger fix. They do have other things like the pb&j, some meats and hot dogs but I can only eat so much food. I was debating between the angry fries and the lobster fries, I opted for the slightly less ridiculous side order and went with the angry ones. Truth be told I was just a little angry with them. Advertised as spicy, they were just fries with some mildish giardinera and buffalo sauce that made them pretty soggy. But there are a ton of different fry choices that sounded pretty good if I’m ever back. Overall Edzos serves up a Damn good no frills burger. And the prices are really reasonable. Plus the tax is included on the menu board. That’s kinda cool.

Drove an hour just to come here. Got the 4oz griddle burger with pepper jack & a fried egg. Also the Lobster fries, and a Nutter Butter shake! Burger was terrible. For a restaurant called«Burger Shop» I was really disappointed… Very dry, brittle meat with no flavor. Lobster fries were good and I’m glad I tried them. Shake was good, but not the best I’ve had… I won’t be back, but I’m glad I satisfied my curiosity.

Edzo’s was good, but a little overrated by everyone on campus. The biggest problem was the price of everything. The Taylor Street fries were advertised to come with Italian beef gravy, and cost $ 5.50, but what I received were some mediocre, slightly soggy fries with a lot of peppers. The griddled 4 oz burgers are also pretty expensive, and they were good, but not anything super special. The burgers do not even come with cheese, but each topping is overpriced as well(adding cheese costs $ 1!). The milkshakes are $ 4.75 each, and they are what this place is known for, so if you do come here you should try one. The nutella flavor is pretty good.

I usually have a funny introductory paragraph, as a typical way to commence my review. Yet I don’t have one today. Yes, I’m just boring and like to be this way every once awhile. However, please read on as there’s some important information awaiting to be shared… Although this is supposed to be a burger place, their fries are really the highlight for this establishment. I don’t know if I would order another burger from here, but I will for sure order the truffle fries. The burgers have the basic constructions, with mustard, ketchup, onions, and pickles. As every other place, if you want some fancy add-ons(fried eggs, mushrooms, and other other pricer ingredients), you will pay extra for it($ 0.50 to $ 1.50). Just put things in perspective, a plain burger, with a single griddle patty, costs $ 4.75. Hubby’s options were much fewer than mine. Nevertheless, he was able to order the veggie burger. If you order this entrée, expect another ten(10) minutes for the wait, as the veggie burger needs a longer cooking time. Everything you order will be made-to-order. The menu at the register is the old-fashioned«Lego-block» menu(sorry, don’t know the technical name for such thing). If you have a menu-reading deficiency, like myself(thank you very much), then read the wall-menu on your way in toward the left. That menu is way more interactive. Like I have mentioned in the second paragraph, I will come back for the truffle fries and other kinds of fries. They even have lobster fries for the season! On the other hand, I don’t know I will try another burger since it was just average to me. Yes, the prices are slightly steep for a burger/gourmet fast food joint, but this is in the Northwestern University territory. As you all know, college students are the second richest group next to Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, dead or alive.
